It's boring as f***. Sometimes it feels like she can sell literally anything. The similar styled stuff she had on Rated R was far more interesting than this.

Rihanna used to be fantastic. SOS, Unbrella etc. But since OG, she's released generic song after song, month after month and people keep lapping it up! It's got to end shortly, surely? <_<

One Direction - 100%

Bruno - 98.8%

Little Mix - 93.7%

Looks like DNA will have to settle for #3. :(

One Direction - 100% + 16% = 116 %. They have a 2nd version currently at No 24.

I know but I was just doing the top versions.

I don't know. I get what you mean though. Especially We Found Love and Where Have You Been. The latter not so much though, since it just came and went really. And her not generic songs I love, but they don't tend to be really massive in the charts. Although I'd honestly prefer her to stop with the generic songs, even if it means everything she releases charts at #15 or something tbh.

No number 1 for sure? Where the hell do u live? So who's gonna be number one?!? LOL.

I don't know. A lot of people on here were saying One Direction were over just a few weeks ago, because one of their songs charted at #3. Whilst I don't think they're quite "over", I'm not sure about a #1 album. If there's no competition this week, they could do it.

Where the hell is the video effect for Diamonds?! :( :snif:

Thought she'd already had the initial boost - got as high as #5 late last week, enabling her to overtake Misha B and Rita Ora officially. Same thing happened with PSY, who was over here promoting. I get where you're coming from though, but I'm positive she'll return to the top 10 in the next couple of weeks; what with the album release and an ever-possible X-Factor performance.

It's dropped from #4 to #11 since the video started being played on music channels. I think the fact music channels were playing a video whilst she made the real video it's lessened the impact of the video effect?

in this current album climate, they'd be lucky to shift 60k....

Never underestimate their physical sales! Teeny girls will be dying just to get that A5 yearbook

The whole 'album every November' thing need to stop  Loud still had more in it, but TTT was just shoved in quickly, and now the same with whatever she's releasing now (although i guess TTT didn't really have much left tbh).

I really liked Talk That Talk, but there were loads of hip hop songs like Cockiness, Roc Me Out, Talk That Talk, Birthday Cake, etc. on that album, so that will put some people off. Some people probably wanted an album full of We Found Love's, but, let's face it, Rihanna's record label ultimately just want money from her, and an album of We Found Loves is not the way to do that.

I did really like Loud aswell though. Raining Men, What's My Name?, Love the Way You Lie Part II, Man Down. Just magic.

Okay I said this last time and they dropped out almost immediately but now The Lumineers are back in the top 10 they surely must be there to stay at least until the end of the week now! They're  to #9 (Adele  to #10, she'll need to do a lot of overtaking to survive the 4 new entries next week).

It wasn't so much that, it's that the majority sounded like rushed knock-offs or demos that had no effort or thought put into them.

Man Down was my favourite on Loud  She's released an album every November for the past 4 years :drama: That's dedication!

I agree. I'm all for her doing Hip-Hop and non-generic club bangers (Rehab?), but TTT was so messy to listen to.

Diamonds has done amazingly for a song basically thrown out there with no build up ect. It has already sold over 315k and Rihanna hasn't even started promo yet. Don't forget it was released the same week as One Directions 1st single off their new album and they are already on to single number 2.

I don't think it matters that much with Rihanna tbh. She has very little to do with the actual making of the songs. She basically gets given the songs and records the vocals on them. So the fact that she's never taking a break is practically irrelevent in that respect. Rihanna may never take a break, but Dr. Luke, Alex Da Kid, Stargate, Calvin Harris, etc. could've spent months working on those songs for all we know. All she has to do really is record the vocals, then get back to being a pop star, so a 12 month break between albums isn't necessary for her imo, but it probably is for pop stars like Lady Gaga and Ne-Yo who actually write their own songs, since it's partly up to themselves to come up with a good album.

That said, some of the songs on the album, like Farewell and Roc Me Out did seem like re-makes of some of her previous songs.

Yes, I loved Rehab.

Yeah, it's done fine I guess. I was thinking it'd be a Russian Roulette-sized hit tbh. I think some of the other pop stars out there at the moment wouldn't be able to sell 300,000+ of a ballad. But I think it'll sell nowhere near as much as Only Girl or We Found Love. Maybe about 500,000 altogether.

i think she totally messed up during the 'Talk that Talk' era.... besides 'We Found Love' which was an amazing dance pop single which smashed the charts everywhere, 'You da one' was a pointless release and didn't set the charts alight anywhere especially since 'We found love' was already a huge hit so it was a let down...

'Roc me out' or 'Talk that talk' (but with promotion and a video featuring Jay-Z) would've been more suitable for a 2nd single...

'Where have you been' was a natural choice for a single since it's the 2nd catchiest on the album after 'We found love' but should've been the 3rd single not the 5th....'Birthday cake' Was OK but she didn't do a video a la Adele and decided to leak a remix edit with Chris Brown which wasn't released.... so she did mess up her album campaign... the 'Cockiness' US performance was pointless and also the remix.....

My favourite ever Rihanna song!

Ride is looking to enter top 30 at least, but hopefully it can keep climbing throughout the week. I hope the album gets a huge boost back into the top 5/3 on the album charts too!

I think WHYB was one of the least catchy on the album. I hardly listen to it anymore. But I think singles like:

1. We Found Love

2. Talk That Talk (starting promotion in December or January so not to get overshadowed, and so they could promote the song before Jay-Z's baby got born)

3. Where Have You Been

4. Birthday Cake remix

would've been best for the album. Kind of a similar strategy to Loud. I think if the Birthday Cake was properly released, it could've been quite big. It almost went top 20 in the US without being sent to pop radio, with no music video, and without the actual full song being released! So I think it surely could've been a top 10 hit at minimum.

Well the Guetta dance track is the 2nd single, so hopefully she gets that out around mid Dec. I think it is good for her to show diversity, she doesn't wanna become a one trick pony cus people will get bored of it. Diamonds came out the blue and was a different sound, I think it got what she wanted, interest in the album. Had she released the Guetta dance track 1st it would have been well ok yeah another dance track 1st release off the album.

I'm not sure how well this album and the subsequent singles will perform this era. This album is definitely her most 'urban' one with only Right Now and Diamods basically made for pop radio. Even Jump is quite Urban. I'm hoping the UK will embrace it though.
