It's been confirmed to be a female artist, hasn't it? (So it won't be any of those :P)

I definitely agree there Ghosty, she was amazing! So sad she didn't get through :(

Look who has just created a brand new official website...

She looks like what Emma Bunton would look like in about 5 years time! :o

Also, Jessie haters TO THE LEFT A LITTLE PLEASE. If every other country can send their biggest popstars, I don't see how we can't (we won't). Pretty sure Jessie would get a hit out of the song as well as actually doing well with a contemporary pop song in the contest. But anyway, it won't happen. :(

If it's as epic as 'Total Eclipse of the Heart', I'm on board. Otherwise... MEH, AGAIN.
JOY. It was becoming painfully obvious though in the last week or so. I like her entry but yeah, another huge flop on the way for the UK. On the bright side (very much clutching at straws here), it's our third entrant in a row who's had a UK #1 at some point. And seeing as Cascada will be in the final too it will be the first time there have been two acts performing that have had UK #1's, at least for a long time and maybe ever? Apparently representing the UK at Eurovision is the destiny of anybody who has a UK smash with Total Eclipse Of The Heart...

TEAM CASCADA! At least a Brit can still win this

*records post-dubstep version of TEOTH*

I don't think this is that bad, and I think we have a chance to come in the top half if she performs the hell out of it. In a good way.

From BBC news:

The Welsh pop singer Bonnie Tyler has been confirmed as the UK representative for Eurovision 2013.

The 61-year-old, best known for her 1983 hit Total Eclipse of the Heart, said she was "honoured" to be asked.

"I promise to give this everything that I've got for the UK!" she said in a statement.

Tyler will be performing the song, Believe in Me, in front of 120 million viewers in Malmo, Sweden on 18 May at the 58th Eurovision Song Contest.

"I am truly honoured and delighted to be able to represent my country at Eurovision, and especially with such a fabulous song," said Tyler.

Tyler has promised she will "give this everything"

The UK entry was written by American songwriter Desmond Child and British songwriters Lauren Christy and Christopher Braide.

Child has worked with Tyler throughout her career and has also written hits for rock bands Kiss and Bon Jovi.

He also penned the Ricky Martin hits Livin' La Vida Loca and She Bangs.

"Bonnie Tyler is truly a global superstar with a fantastic voice," said Katie Taylor, BBC Controller, Entertainment and Events.

"We are delighted she will be flying the flag for the UK in Malmo."

Last year's entry, Love Will Set You Free by Engelbert Humperdinck, finished second from last with just 12 points.

Tyler's first hit single, Lost in France, reached the UK Top 10 in 1976.

She was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 1984, including best female pop vocal for Total Eclipse of the Heart.

'said she was "honoured" to be asked' - was Bonnie Tyler really the first artist that the BBC had in mind when searching for possibilities? I wonder how long this process will continue before we get a national final back, or at least somebody in charge who lives in 2013 and not a timewarp!

OH GOD NO

I mean I love me a bit of classic Bonnie but at least Engelbert could still SING and had a bit of star quality (even if he was, ultimately, also the wrong choice). I can't see this going anywhere but DEAD LAST. Of course the fact she's autotuned to remove any trace of roughness from her voice on the studio version only makes matters worse when you're presented with the FOLLOWING:

I found a better version, I think this sounds a lot better, not a fan of her voice though. It could grow on me.

If they were looking for acts like Bonnie to sing a power ballad, they could have chose Barbara Dickson or Elaine Paige.

Er, Mikey, I think the point was that's the official version with modified vocals - John was pointing out the IMPENDING DISASTER of her live vocals come Eurovision night.

In BETTER NEWS there's THIS:

GODDESS

That was the improved version *.* than only god can save the nation.

The songs not too bad, better than last year's but that can't be hard. Still see this being in the bottom 5/10. I did used to love Bonnie but she has lost some of her power to her vocals
Oh no. She'd better practice her vocals, but that's a bottom half finish for us. We won't be too near last given the strength of the year, but it's still not a great song.

Bonnie  Thumbs up!

But the song is average imo. Not too bad but not as powerful and great as her hits from the 80s (where she always will be remembered for). It's more like her 90s stuff... But because of this years lack of competition Bonnie will be my favorite!

Yeah, I've found my favorite! :cheer:
