Ugh, over a month to wait. A Radio 2 artist is imminent, what decade should we be hoping that they were most relevant, the 70s, 80s?

Oh dear! When's the deadline, must be like the 19th or something?
They're probably thinking something like that: 'oh well we're going to make an awful decision either way so let's leave it to last minute when we cannot possibly change our mind'.

The Rolling Stones are a typical Radio 2 artist right?

It doesn't have to be a typical Radio 2 artist, that's just where the announcement is being made - Radio 1 would never announce anything to do with Eurovision. Although it does increase the likelihood.

I'm more concerned about having a month to wait. :drama:

Yeah, Radio 2 broadcasts the Eurovision final with Ken Bruce commentating so it could easily be somebody amazing - it just makes sense to announce it on that radio show if they aren't doing a TV performance. I'm thinking it's more likely to be somebody woeful though.
Just read that the deadline for ESC entries is the 18th, so the BBC are leaving it until the last possible day! :o Apparently it was stressed that it was a soloist and I guess there is still a chance the artist will be announced before the 18th?
If the deadline is the 18th...surely the announcement is withdrawal? It figures. Last minute reveal and someone from the beeb to state reasons.

We AREN'T withdrawing, not only would they be fined for withdrawing this late but they may as well have just said that now.
It's Terry Wogan feat. Jade Ewen doing a British "Mirakel" isn't it? :kink: **wet dreams**

Given that we pay for a significant amount of the running of the contest and that figure is so low that the 7-8m viewers this contest pulls in yearly makes it a bargain for them.

For less than the price of a week of Eastenders the BBC gets two big nights for BBC3 (by BBC3 standards) and then an easy win on prime time saturday night. We perform poorly purely because the BBC won't invest in the contest anymore (If you insist on assembling shite for a national final we're going to send shite) and see it simply as a cheap and easy saturday night ratings win. They have more to gain by half arsing an entry that withdrawing.

We will never withdraw as a nation. The business case for keeping it on the air is overwhelming.

BBC Eurovision has been active again on Twitter over the last few minutes:

As Graham Norton mentioned over the weekend, the first airplay of the UK entry will be on Radio 2 in mid-March...
We'll let you know when and how the announcement will be made about our UK act over the coming weeks.

Sounds like we'll get a separate artist announcement before the first play of the entry on the 18th! :cheer:

The Diana rumours strengthened further today after we found out that she will soon be filming a music video and also had a meeting today. :D

Diana has now denied doing Eurovision by tweeting "I don't know why I'm getting Eurovision tweets through? I'm defiantly not doing it lol too busy and excited doing my own album!"

That's the strongest rumour so far gone, so it could be anyone again! At least we aren't far away from new Diana music! :kink:

Leanne Mitchell has also "denied" it on twitter but in a more 'lol no I'm not doing that x' way that comes across as pretending not to know anything about it.
Of course people may be forced to say they're not doing it to 'keep the secret' for a bit longer! If people are tweeting rumours and they don't respond, then we know it could be them. But if they tweet they are not, then the secret is kept for longer! :D

Defiantly not means she's defying not doing it, ie. doing it. Either that, or she just can't spell (which is more likely) :kink:
