With Robbie Williams, One Direction, & Olly Murs, all doing the

Double Top, over 4 Weeks, what does it mean in context?

 

1) It is the fastest 3 Double Tops ever - by different Acts.

 

2) The Beatles did it 3 times, within 4 Weeks, in 1963:,

 

28/11/1963 (1) The Beatles - Please Please Me // She Loves You

05/12/1963 (1) The Beatles - With The Beatles // She Loves You

12/12/1963 (5) The Beatles - With The Beatles // I Want To Hold Your Hand

 

3) Olly Murs is the 4th Act to manage it in 2012. Gary Barlow &

The Commonwealth Band did it in June, with Sing.

 

4) 4 Double Tops in a Calendar Year is not that rare. It was done

5 times in 2011 - but, only by 3 Acts. Rihanna did it twice, as did

Adele, & Bruno Mars did it once.

 

5) It was previously done as many as 4 times - by different Acts - in 2008

- Duffy, Madonna, Coldplay, & Kings Of Leon.

 

Thanks for that Colin. I thought it would probably be the first time the double had been done by three different acts on four weeks but decided to play it safe by saying it might well be :lol:

 

I hadn't really thought about the number of different acts to do the double in a year. I would have assum ed that four wasn't particularly rare but it's good to see that confirmed.

It's odd that for most of the year it was looking like only Gary Barlow & The Commonwealth Band would have a double and all of a sudden within a month 2012 has become the most prolific year for acts doing the double since 2008 :P
