Truly fantastic episode. More drama than we've had in MONTHS. Almost unbearably tense during the confrontation in the Vic. Max's phone! Derek and the cigar! Jark dead on sofa!

It was really good but having Derek as the shagger showed jusT how slutty and disgusting Kat really is.

Would it have been somehow less slutty if it had been Jack or Max?

 

I think people need to get past the superficial "EW DEREK HOW DISGUSTING LOLZ" attitude.

 

No it wouldn't have but it would have shown Kat had SOME standards.

The episode wasn't as great for me as I missed it and had to watch it on iPlayer, but then someone went and spoiled it all over Facebook! :drama: But Derek at the end with the cigar was great, really shows what a nasty piece of work he is as he didn't care at all - not even when his brother was getting the blame!

 

What happened when Kat first started seeing him? Perhaps that could make it more understandable as to why it was Derek.

I didn't think that the cigar scene at the end was great at all. It looked quite scripted and predictable to me. It would have been even more exciting if Alfie attacked him or something like that to be honest!

Maybe, but the cigar scene didn't leave me feeling interested for the next episode. I thought that was it really and that I wouldn't bother me if I missed the next episode. But if Alfie attacked him, it would leave me hooked as to what would happen next! :D

You thought the cigar scene was "predictable"? You predicted that Derek would be named as the shagger and would instantly light a cigar, did you?

One of the best episodes for a long time can't wait for tomorrow, but I agree who on earth would want to shag Derek unless Kat was wearing a blindfold.

I LOVED that and I say that as somebody who has been rather unenthusiastic about this storyline. The whole episode was done so well and I was almost convinced that it was Max for a second even though I've thought it's Derek since Ray was eliminated. Bring on Christmas.

That scene ruined the whole reveal for me. It was a surprise that it was Derek, yes (I had genuinely thought it would be Max cheating because the writers generally seem to think you can never show Max cheating enough), but once they showed his cigar/expression it was just ridiculous. Totally unbelievable behaviour and a summary of everything hateful about Derek in five seconds. It's not that he's a c**t, it's that he's a parody of a c**t.

No, Lauren must stay, she is one of the best on the show.

All Lauren does is drink, loon over Joey, and mope about. If she's one of the best then the others might as well get written off.

 

I liked the swerve that they did at the end of tonights episode with Max and Derek.

I kind of knew it was him anyway, and its not like she had a choice out of the three brothers like some are suggesting when they say ewww Derek, why not Jack??! :lol:

And Jark, it wasn't that I expected it to happen, it was just a very predictable response. A response that was out of the blue would have been better than unrealistically lighting a cigar!

Totally agree......it was marvellous and had an atmosphere and an energy to it that was new for East Enders. The phones and the cigar were class. The only bit that I found was ill-fitting was that Max reacted exactly how he would have done if it had been him that was carrying on with Kat. I know that was to throw viewers off the scent but I knew while watching the confrontation that we would not be able to deduce anything from Max's reaction or behaviour because he is well versed in playing that part of the storyline.
