Totally agree, what an amazing track this is. :D 'The Girl And The Robot' did quite well in my chart at the time but this already looks set to become Röyksopp's biggest hit yet in my chart.

Who doesn't like a nice unexpected #1? :D Although it was top in the Bubbling Under chart last week. :P I do think this is sublime and such a fantastic track. A more than worthy contender for my Xmas no. 1 this year after Crystal Catles feat. Robert Smith 'Not In Love' was my Xmas #1 of 2010. :D Mind you, Charli XCX 'Nuclear Seasons' was my Xmas no. 1 last year and that's hardly a festive track either. :lol:

Oh definitely. James and Ella were by far my fave two of this years finalists. However, I was hoping neither would win as the eventual winners of X Factor over the years have ended up being overshadowed by acts who finish 2nd/3rd etc... I'm hoping that James can follow on from Little Mix and the UK can actually have two excellent back to back winners where both are successful. Here's how all X Factor winners singles have fared in my chart:

As I mentioned in reply to Mikey, Enrique is more like a guilty pleasure. The type of artist it's uncool to like but there's a slightly cheesey charm about his music that I find appealing. Maybe if he released "credible" urban sounding music I'd probably hate it. It's pure unashamed pop music. :lol:

I'm not sure, I think its the producing, I liked it when genres were its own genre if you know what I mean, because lately everything sounds the same, however there are a few songs now and then that will have a different sounding. Either that or I'm just used to hearing the beats I love and like, like Beyoncé's Love on Top reminded me of New Jack Swing. Don't know about Daley - Remember Me though, I just loved that song straight away.

Ahh, so you're a James fan too? :D James and Ella were the only reason to watch The X Factor after Carolynne got knocked out in the first week. Seems strange that one of the worst years for X Factor somehow miraculously produced a great winner. I still genuinely believe that James will do well in the long term. He knows what type of music he wants to release. Jahmene is likely to do a load of cover versons which really isn't what the UK music industry needs right now. Or ever. So I just see Jahmene doing a Marcus Collins and fade back into obscurity 12 months from now.

I'm still not fully sold of K-Pop but there's no denying 'Gangnam Style' is just one of the best novelty singles of all time. As for Ailee, I really like the song. It's pure and simple pop music - some K-Pop tracks are a bit clunky for me to really get into (like 'PonPonPon' or whatever it's called - that's the type of song that puts me off K-Pop or J-Pop - it all sounds the same to me!!! :lol: ).

Everyone loves a slice of musical cheese every so often. I guess the late UK release might explain why this never took off here. Especially when you consider how well 'I Like It' and 'Tonight (I'm Loving You)' did in comparison.

There's nothing wrong with Jessie J unless she's screeching her vocals. That's the time my ears cry out in pain. So much...pain!!! :cry: As mentioned already, I much prefer Daley's track with Gorillaz.

I understand what you mean but I think these genres mixes go round in cycles. Recently a lot of US rappers have been more influenced by Eurodance - particularly Pitbull whose music wouldn't have sounded out of place in the mid 90s. Artists are always influenced by what went before so I think it's difficult for artists to create a whole new sound or style without risking alienating their core fanbase.

 

I guess with Daley's track, it has a retro 90s RnB vibe about the track only made to sound more modern in a 2012 way.
