This song is so inspirational to me, I've gone through a few bad experiences recently and this song has helped me to get through those experiences. ^_^ It bemuses me how such a brilliant song was looking unlikely to reach the Top 20 at one point and yet it still deserved Top 5 at least. Oh well. I wanted to give this song a higher place in my chart, but 57 other songs form this year genuinely overshadowed this splendid song. :lol: :(

An Awesome Wave is my second favourite album from 2012, so it's a honour for this song to be proclaimed as the best song from the album in my opinion. Anyway, I think that my favourite moment regarding the song this year was when I had the opportunity to be one of Queen Nicki's subjects and watch her for a night. I was addicted to the song for the next two weeks and it even peaked at #1 in my personal chart. I wouldn't listen to this song out of choice these days because it got killed by overplay, but it still deserves to be in this countdown because of the good memories I have of the song.

This reminds me of driving to school when it was promoted in April 2012 and it went into the Top 40 after it was sung live before the Olympics opening ceremony in August.. I didn't like the song at first when I listened to it through the Unapologetic album, but after it was performed on the X Factor, I quickly changed my mind. A heartbreaking and confused love ballad, Stay eventually became a Christmas #1 for me and proved that she is still my favourite artist ever, even after the massive disappointment of Diamonds.
