January 1, 201312 yr Author spooky that was I call a Snap situation with Florence, unfortunately just missed out with Woodkid, peaked at #4. Great top 10 though, apart from Carly and Ivan Gough Cheers Martin :D I will be catching up with other EOY charts. When I checked yours the other day you were up to the top 20. Wanted to post mine yesterday as I knew I wouldn't get the time today (visiting family later on then have other family visiting us tonight). Great to know that Woodkid and Florence did well for you too. Did Loreen make an appearance? :kink: 'Call Me Maybe' and 'In My Mind' are brilliant songs so :P
January 1, 201312 yr My comments and faves Hits, happy new year! 01. [250] Loreen - Euphoria Utter perfection so glad it's your #1 of the year! Don't wait for Tirren to post the video of something before listening next time, if 20 people are hyping something up on the forum then it's got to be at least a little bit good! :P 02. [250] Loreen - Euphoria Utter perfection so glad it's your #1 of the year! Don't wait for Tirren to post the video of something before listening next time, if 20 people are hyping something up on the forum then it's got to be at least a little bit good! :P  Honestly, when Loreen first went to #1 in your chart (and quite a few others) when I went to see the video on YouTube every clip was blocked. It seemed to go on for about 2 weeks so that's why I gave up trying. I still listen to 'Euphoria', as you may remember when it was released to iTunes we both bought the track that same day. :D Only I couldn't log into iTunes at first because I'd forgotten what my username was[/fail] 02. [225] Florence & The Machine - Spectrum (Calvin Harris Remix) I always loved the album version of this but the remix was something special too, odd that she decided to perform the album version on Xmas TOTP, nobody bought it after all  The Ceremonials era has been just as huge for her as Lungs all things considered, who'd have thought it :o I never got chance to watch any of the TOTP's over Christmas and New Years but I'd guessed if Florence was singing live, she might just prefer singing the original arrangement. I don't think Florence has ever performed the Calvin Harris remix live yet. What is interesting about both albums is that it was the final single that became the most successful single. 05. [207] PSY - Gangnam Style (강남스타일) I wonder when this will stop selling, 900k almost and still top three, its success is incredible! It wouldn't surprise me if 'Gangnam Style' ends up being the next 'Chasing Cars', 'Sweet Child O' Mine' and 'Lose Yourself' as one of those tracks that never seems to leave the iTunes top 200. It always benefits from the weekend effect and it's a firm fave with partygoers so it's going to continue getting played for a long time to come. 09. [156] Gabrielle Aplin - Please Don't Say You Love Me Wonder if this will prevent her being a one hit wonder, it's a lovely song The UK release schedule seems incredibly dry for the next few weeks that it's actually 11th Feb (the week this is officially released) when there seems to be any potentially big hits getting released. I can't imagine what's going to do well for the next 4 weeks as nothing stands out as a big hit in waiting. I believe Beyonce is releasing a new track on 11th January so maybe that will take off really well but without hearing it, I'm still firmly on the fence. Obviously I'd really like to see 'PDSYLM' become a hit in its own right. 11. [153] Prance Faris - Flares Really amazed and pleased that this did so well for you, one of MANY great dance tracks from 2012, difference being that the others were all hits, when is somebody going to see the potential in this song! :drama: I totally agree and perhaps we should just email Radio 1/Clubland and put "This song is amazing. Play it" and let them decide. Did anyone find out more information about Prance Faris? Who is/are they/he/she? :D 25. [124] Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen - Good Time A surprise #2 of the year for me, but it kept me smiling all summer! 'Good Time' had the same effect on me too when the video was released. Maybe that's what the turning point in me going from thinking "this isn't that good" to "actually, it's a really good pop song". The lyrics are so mundane but sometimes it's not all about the lyrics to make a feel good song. 29. [117] Still Corners - Fireflies So glad to see this here too  Weird how I seemed to like this more than you did. That's like me reading a personal chart to find SX 'Gold' has been their #1 for the last 4 weeks.

Yes, blame SVT, Sweden's version of the BBC, they scour Youtube to remove all of the Melodifestivalen entries until the final to make sure that nobody has an advantage of the Week 1 semi-finalists having had three weeks more hype/airplay than the Week 4 Semi-finalists. Songs from the first Semi final NEVER usually win, but Loreen was in the first semi-final so there was a long wait for Euphoria to be unblocked! 5. Looks like it will sail pass 1.5 million without too much bother :o Nu Barbie Girl? 9. Indeed, I'm sure something will come up out of nowhere soon enough! The first few months of the year are now often dominated by slow climbers to #1 with the summer/winter dominated by the heavily marketed debuts at #1's! 11. Maybe we should, but I've done that before and they never listen! I have absolutely no idea on the identity of Prance Faris sadly, all I know is that he/she/it is/are very talented! 29. It happens I guess, a couple of others seemed to like Fireflies more than I did too - Harve and Leww, it wasn't my first choice, that would have been Whigfield's 4Ever but I'm glad I sent it seeing as a few of you made a great discovery (and I do really like it of course!). As for Bassline, I don't hate it I just never saw what was so special about it!

Sweden really are the pioneers when it comes to some excellent pop music. Loreen becomes the second act to score an end of year #1 for me following 'With Every Heartbeat'. 5. There's a very good possibility of that happening. Hasn't 'Moves Like Jagger' sold around 1.5 million? It wouldn't surprise me if PSY outsold the likes of Maroon 5, Black Eyed Peas etc with their party tracks from the last few years. 9. It says a lot when the BBC Sound of 2013 poll results seem to be rather subtle this year. It's as if they have absolutely no faith in any of the contenders but have to announce the results but really they can't be arsed. After the rather limited success Michael Kiwanakula (?) had in 2012, they probably know they've lost their way in predicting the next big thing. 11. Who have you emailed previously? I just went to get the email address for Clubland and it just gives me All Around The World. I'm assuming their both the same? 29. Maybe we should be thankful that Tom Kay confirmed Whigfield before you, otherwise I might never have discovered Still Corners. :o I think Mark summed up what's so great about 'Bassline' in the commentary he posted in his EOY chart.
January 2, 201312 yr Did Loreen make an appearance? :kink: Loreen didn't make my YTD chart :( Jonjo and Ghosty over charted the track and its still heading in the wrong direction in his current personal chart  :drama: overkill much :heehee:

January 4, 201312 yr Oh yeah, I should've guessed Loreen would be number 1 :P It is a really good song of its type, its not even that cheesy for a Eurovision song and the production feels really fresh. I don't know how Sweden are gonna top that. Great top 10 for the most half, In My Mind was a great discovery even if it didn't quite make my list. I hope it can become a bit more recognised 2013, even if just due to the Flo Rida version (which I haven't heard yet, but I really hope he's done it justice).

January 5, 201312 yr :D Does that mean Loreen is your #1 of 2012? I've not checked yet but once it's completed, I shall comment on the chart. It's not my #1, but it is in my Top 10. :kink: You can see where it reached in my EOY chart if you click on the link in my signature! :D

I think Loreen charting weeks before Euvision then getting the boost post-Eurovision final really helped out 'Euphoria' overall. Otherwise had it not climbed back to no. 1 (a first in my chart in 9 years :o ) then 'Spectrum' may well have benefitted. The production on 'Euphoria' is incredible, even as an instrumental it sound really good. I remember when I first heard the instruemental, I thought it had been produced by Avicii. :D It does have that sound about it. I'll be impressed if Sweden can top that - any country for that matter. I'm unsure about 'In My Mind'. When I confirmed the track, it was available to download on iTunes. By the time the semi finals opened, it had mysteriously been removed. It's on iTunes now thanks to Swedish House Mafia's 'Until Now' but it's been made album only, same with any compilations where it's been tracklisted. Maybe it's because I'm more used to the original, but I really don't like Flo Rida's version. His singing over Georgie Kay's vocals really don't blend well at all. :(

Rita Ora - Hot Right Now 19. [131] Donkeyboy - City Boy 20. [130] Rihanna - Diamonds 22. [129] Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) 24. [125] Pink - Try 25. [124] Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen - Good Time 27. [122] Lana Del Rey - Summertime Sadness 28. [121] Laleh - Some Die Young 31. [116] Foxes - Youth An excellent BJSC winner! Part of me is hopeful it might become a hit in 2013 33. [113] Lana Del Rey - Blue Jeans 34. [112] Reverend & The Makers - Bassline 35. [112] Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin - Don't You Worry Child 36. [112] David Guetta feat. Sia - She Wolf (Falling To Pieces) 37. [111] Alex Clare - Too Close 38. [110] Lana Del Rey - Ride 39. [108] Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - Dance Again Pitbull ruins it, but this was quite a summer anthem for me! 40. [108] Cazzi Opeia - My Heart In 2 First chart I've seen this in! It's a really great track though! Excellent chart! :D 01. [250] Loreen - Euphoria Excellent to see it at the top of another EOY chart! It truly was the song of the year! :D What would you say has been more successful in your chart; 'Euphoria' or 'Je Ne Sais Quoi'? Both had massive runs in your chart with multiple weeks at #1. Only difference being Loreen was the outright winner. :D 15. [142] Studio Killers - Ode To The Bouncer This was a really great entry! I was pleased to see it progress further than the nominations process in TBO! Batidas really didn't have the same luck as in 2011 when I decided to give BJSC a go. Weird to think that my first ever entry ('Riverside') could become one of the most popular winners of all time. It'd be great to get another BJSC as successful - not even to win, maybe come 2nd or 3rd but have another defining entry. Well, I have Gotye as well and you can't argue with "biggest selling single of 2012". Now we know how Robot felt when 'Someone Like You' became 2011's biggest seller. 31. [116] Foxes - Youth An excellent BJSC winner! Part of me is hopeful it might become a hit in 2013 It's already around for a good year so I'd be plesantly surprised if 'Youth' suddenly took off and became a hit in its own right sometime in 2013. 39. [108] Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - Dance Again Pitbull ruins it, but this was quite a summer anthem for me! Pitbull's rapping is irrelevant, I agree. It worked with 'On The Floor' but perhaps it was just an attempt to recreate 'OTF' all over again. I reckon 'Dance Again' would've worked better without Pitbull. There is a rapless version I remember hearing complete with its own middle 8 that sounded really good. 40. [108] Cazzi Opeia - My Heart In 2 First chart I've seen this in! It's a really great track though! Didn't Tom Kay chart this? Shocking!!! :P 'My Heart In 2' got to #3 in my chart exactly a year ago so it did well to remain as one of my 40 biggest hits for 12 months. I can't help but think Cazzi looks like a man in drag though.
January 6, 201312 yr Hi Hits :D 01. [250] Loreen - Euphoria Stunning. I don't think a song could get much more perfect for me. 03. [218] Woodkid - Run Boy Run 04. [209] Lana Del Rey - Born To Die My favourite Lana song. I don't know why, as it's not much different to her other stuff, which I find awfully dull. But there's something about this. 05. [207] PSY - Gangnam Style (강남스타일) 06. [203] fun. feat. Janelle Monáe - We Are Young 07. [168] Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe 10. [154] Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl feat. [108] Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - Dance Again Someone else charted this in their top 40? It's amazing. Defintiely my favourite J Lo single!
January 6, 201312 yr 1. Ahh, I knew there was a reason why it was blocked but couldn't remember the exact reason. 1. Indeed, my only other Swedish EOY #1 was Agnes' Release Me in 2009 (even though it was my 2008 xmas #1, when she was a mere nobody!) 5. Coming up to that total I think! You may well be right, unless it starts to tail off drastically... 9. I'm surprised at Haim winning even though I like them, and FAR more than Michael Kiwanuka, who was fairly dull/another Aloe Blacc. 11. All Around The World and Hard2Beat/Dance Nation, I always get completely ignored! 29. Maybe so, for you, Harve and Leww anyway :P It diversified my 2012 entries a bit anyway, shame it didn't make the top ten though... Yeah I read that but I don't agree with it, it's another ten-a-penny club track for me, just from a more unexpected source!
