110. COVER DRIVE - TWILIGHT (-50 POINTS)

AMOUNT OF -5's RECIEVED: 8

Although this act's name indicates another iTunes cover act, this is a moderately successful Bajan band, who managed to get one of the surprise OCC #1s of the year. The song is pleasant enough, and in my view there's been much worse number ones over the last few years. Twilight finished higher than TP as it recieved four "+5s" compared to TP's two.

Oops, sorry that was my mistake, I put the songs total in the -5 tally by accident, actually 9 people gave it a -5 that week.I wish 53 people would vote a week! The most last year was 24.

Ah, that makes more sense! It wouldn't surprise me if 53 people did give it -5s, but I would have expected it to have come last in the countdown.

Next up is Stooshe's debut which has finished here below their 2nd hit. The song is quirky and original and for me it was a good start to their chart history.

Agreed. It definitely caught my attention when I first heard it on the school bus. Loved all the random phrases/noises they just blurted out, kinda reminded me of a few girls at my school! :P

Former winner of the worst reshuffle song of the year (Baby), Justin Bieber does better this year with his two efforts this year, I don't mind this song as it sounds very much like a Justin Timberlake song and I like Justin Timberlake. Not winning anything for originality though. With very similar stats, Boyfriend finishes higher than LM as it recieved two "+5"s compared to LM's one.

Another song which I didn't know by name, but did recognise it upon listen. The song IMO is boring and forgettable.

I only like Neon Hitch's vocals on Ass Back Home, I can't stand Travie McCoy.

Boyfriend is a vast improvement on his earlier stuff (same goes to 'As Long As You Love Me' and 'Beauty and a Beat'), but instead of annoying, it's a bit boring.

The lowest of Conor Maynard's three entries on the list should come as no surprise as it's his weakest and least well-known, Having said that it's OK, and sounded OK on today's playback.

Big fat :( at this not getting at least T100, OK in it's voting stages I didn't give it a "+5" but it took a while to grow on me (like Louder did) and it's now one of my favourite number ones of the year. DJ Fresh is done on the list, Rita Ora's worst single finishes highest on the list :( again. HRN finishes higher than VG as it recieved eight "+4s" compared to VG's two.

Not a fan of this song and is definitely my least favourite OCC #2 of the year, "No Regrets" did better on last year's countdown (68th)

Edited by Leonardo

I quite liked Rockstar at the time, but now it's definitely my least favourite compared with No Regrets and Good Intentions.

EDIT: Haha, "No Regrets and Good Intentions" sounds like an album title! :P

At #103 is that One Direction song which sounds just like the all other ones. :) Only kidding, although One Thing, is probably their most generic single they've done, which is saying something. They've still one more song to appear.

Finishing above their boyband/Twitter rivals The Wanted's lowest of two efforts comes in at #102, the song is good although it is clearly riding on stylistically on "Glad You Came"'s coattails (last year's 96th). CTS finishes higher than OT as it recieved three "5"s compared to OT's one.

Just missing out on a T100 YE placing is Nigerian-born D'Banj with only T75 single "Oliver Twist", the song is fun for parties and is different. It's on my iPod and still gets the odd play when i'm in the mood.

Last year's OCC Christmas #1 managing to do better than this years on the countdown, by a fun coincidence it also finished 100th in the 2011 YE list. I'm not a huge fan of the song, but I think the song was more about the message than the music.

B.O.B an artist with three reshuffle #1s to his name (Nothin' On You, Airplanes & Price Tag) couldn't maintain this on his sole 2012 entry. I like the song and can see why it was used on adverts, it just has that kind of feel to it. SG finishes higher than WYA as it recieved one "+5" compared to WYA's none.

Up next is Bruno Mars' lead single from Unorthodox Jukebox, which had a bit of a topsy-turvy chart run on this chart, scoring positive and negative randomly. However the negatives outweighed the positives leading to this placing in the YE result. I liked the single, it had a Police-vibe about it which I liked and wasn't like the majority of singles on the chart.
