This Week: What would "Call Me Maybe"'s Carly Rae Jepsen do if she met the Queen of Pop? "IF I met Madonna, I would grovel and kiss her hand!", the Canadian singer told UK magazine Star.

January 23, 201312 yr Author Celine Dion: Interviewer: Madonna? I know that her father is your number one fan. Celine: Yes. Well, yes. We met at one of her shows. I’m a fan. When she came to Montreal, I was next to the stage. I think she’s had an extraordinary career and again, I’m watching Lourdes grow up, and she looks magnificent.I say: Well, it’s still amazing to have a career like that. She’s managed to do exactly what she wanted to do. She has charisma, she has nerve. You must be able to work and have discipline. You must be the right thing at the right time. And I think obviously, Madonna had everything she needed to suceed. 7 Hollywood Magazine
January 24, 201312 yr Author Prince In a wide-ranging interview in Billboard's latest issue, of which he graces the cover, Prince had some not-so kind words to say about his fellow performers. Talking about his contract with Warner Bros. Records - over which he was so upset at what he considered the company's botched promotion of his albums that he changed his name to a symbol for several years in protest - the 54-year-old music legend lashed out at the Material Girl, whom he blamed for taking up much of the label's focus at his expense. 'It was also about Madonna,' Prince told the magazine (via Zap2it) regarding his decision to churn out a series of albums to fulfill his contractual obligation so he could declare his independence. 'She was getting paid, but at the time we were selling more records and selling out concerts on multiple nights.' As it happened, Madonna also sought freedom from the heavy hand of the music giant when she exited Warner, which had distributed her Maverick Records label for 15 years, for a lucrative deal with Live Nation in 2007. But the Queen of Pop wasn't only one in Prince's bad books. The mercurial Minneapolis musician also took a shot at Maroon 5 for covering his classic hit 'Kiss.' While Prince himself said he has no problem covering other bands' tunes in his concerts and paying the requisite royalty for doing so, he questioned the point of recording another artist's track for actual release. 'Why do we need to hear another cover of a song someone else did? Art is about building a new foundation, not just laying something on top of what's already there,' he said. Ouch. No word what Maroon 5, or Madonna for that matter, has to say about all of this. From E! Online
February 6, 201312 yr Author Rita Ora Rita Ora is in awe of Madonna's exercise regime because she once tried Pilates and just fell over. The British singer is a massive fan of the American legend and is in awe of how well the 54-year-old looks after her body. Madonna is known for her love of exercise and dedication to a healthy diet and Rita thinks she could learn a lot from the star. 'I'd be mates with Madonna. She could heal me: I'd go to yoga with her so I feel like I'd get really healthy,' Rita mused to Stylist magazine. 'I tried Pilates once and it just didn’t work. I completely fell over; I don’t know how people do it. I’ve never met Madonna, but if I did, I’d be nervous and just stare in awe. I’d probably say nothing and she would be like, 'What is this weirdo doing?'' Belfast telegraph
February 19, 201312 yr Beyonce Beyoncé: 'There are not enough independent women like Madonna' Tuesday Feb 19 2013 By Lewis Corner Beyoncé has revealed that Madonna inspired her to take control of her own career. The singer ended her management relationship with her father back in 2010 before recording her last album 4 and admitted that the new arrangement required "a different level of commitment". "When I recorded 4, I decided it's okay. I'm going to be independent," Beyoncé told The Gentlewoman. "I just have memories of when there was no air conditioning in the new building and we didn't have an office, and it was like camping. It was like, 'If you want to be a part of this, you got to grind it out'. "It's a different level of commitment, because it comes from love and respect, and that's how I try to lead. "I think about Madonna and how she took all of the great things she achieved and started the label and developed other artists. But there are not enough of those women." The star went on to explain that she wants to become a mogul like her male music peers, as not enough women strive to achieve that. "Now I'm controlling my content, controlling my brand and archiving it for my daughter and making sure she has it and she respects it," she said. "You see Puffy and you see my husband and you see these male artists that become moguls, and the female artists might become legends, but there's not enough of us that become moguls. And I think there are many ways to get there." Beyoncé's new film documentary Life Is But A Dream premiered on HBO in the US on Saturday (February 16) and was met with mixed reviews from critics.
February 21, 201312 yr Author Paloma Faith has criticised stars like Madonna who charge fans high prices for gig tickets. "Because I'm a socialist, I think it's disgusting when Madonna and co set ticket prices at £300," she told The Mirror. "I don't believe in elitism.
February 22, 201312 yr Author He's spoke about it before but here's giving his view again.. Danny Aiello never wanted to work with Madonna Actor Danny Aiello was interviewed on the Jim & Kim Show and revelead that he never wanted to play Madonna's father role in her "Papa Don't Preach" music video back in 1986. "My daughter talked me into that," he said, "I didn't want to do it because, ya know, I don't do videos". He also explained he didn't accept the $450 for the shoot in exchange for his daughter, who was a huge fan, to be allowed on set to take pictures. Aiello's opinion on Madonna hasn't changed much since they met at the time her "True Blue" album was released, not to say he isn't brutally honest about what he thinks about the Material Girl. "She hasnt changed much, except I think she was a better singer when she was sorta brand new," he told Jim & Kim. But despite the criticism, the big screen actor still remembers her fondly. "She was very nice to me, I suppose it was a father/daughter relationship."
May 26, 201312 yr Author Taylor Swift looks up to Madonna In a recent interview with Billboard, Taylor Swift said she looks up to Madonna, who took home Top Touring Artist honors. When asked what she’s learned from the original Material Girl’s legacy, she answered… One element of Madonna’s career that really takes center stage is how many times she’s reinvented herself. It’s easier to stay in one look, one comfort zone, one musical style. It’s inspiring to see someone whose only predictable quality is being unpredictable.
September 29, 201311 yr Author Cher: I thought Madonna was a bitch Cher has revealed that she never hated Madonna but always thought she was a "bitch". The 'Believe' star said during an 'Ask Me Anything' on Reddit that she respects her fellow singer's work, perhaps with the exception of her most recent album MDNA. Asked if she hates Madonna, Cher replied: "Madge, no. Actually I don't. I never hated her, I just thought she was a bitch. Actually I quite respect her. "I think Madge might be one of the most amazing artists I've known. I don't like everything she does, for sure, but she is always riding the crest of the wave. "She always saw trends WAY before anyone else, and had great videos. So, besides saying 'WTF is MDNA', I'm fine with it." The pair have exchanged insults over the years, but Cher recently praised Madonna, saying that Lady Gaga's "got 'it', the way Madonna had 'it'".
September 29, 201311 yr How can Cher criticise MDNA when she releases something like 'Woman's World'? A Cher and Madonna collab needs to happen. Leotards galore.
September 29, 201311 yr Author One of Cher's latest promo pics for her new album is VERY MDNA inspired. I was trying to find it but I can't I will post it up when I find it.
September 29, 201311 yr It also "says she respects her fellow singer's work, perhaps with the exception of her most recent album MDNA". It's understandable but I just find it funny considering the generic-ness of 'Woman's World' (even though it's a fab song!).
September 29, 201311 yr Author Well she didn't know what is was bit, one of her pics is very similar to Madonna's. (Not that Madonna created everything).
September 29, 201311 yr It also "says she respects her fellow singer's work, perhaps with the exception of her most recent album MDNA". It's understandable but I just find it funny considering the generic-ness of 'Woman's World' (even though it's a fab song!). Pretty sure that is just whoever wrote this taking the "what even is mdna?" tweet and trying to twist what Cher was talking about
October 12, 201311 yr Author Patrick Leonard "She put me on the map, I’m grateful. I’m one of those people behind the curtain. If she hadn’t sung those songs, no one would have heard them. She’s made it possible for me to do what I’m doing now." The legendary Patrick Leonard, talking to Roger Friedman on showbiz411.com, discussing the process of his work with Madonna. Their process was simple - the article continues - he wrote the music, and brought it to Madonna. She would help supply lyrics and offer changes in the music to suit her. "She’d refine it,"Leonard says. "You give her a track, she sings the melody. She's very very talented." "One doesn't exist without the other. She always showed up and she was always completely involved. I miss her, actually." They haven't written together since 1997. Would he like to do it again? "Absolutely," Leonard says. "She writes a lot with deejays now."
