Posted January 26, 201312 yr Jump ● (2006) ● 'Confessions of a Dance Floor' http://i49.tinypic.com/vqpqj5.jpg Background Originally planned as the third single from Madonna's tenth studio album 'Confessions of a Dance Floor', Jump was instead released as the fourth on the 31 October. This decision was made after Get Together was revealed as the US' third best selling digital song from the album at the time, with sales of 20,000 compared to Jump's 9,000. Written by Madonna, Joe Henry and Stuart Price and produced by the former two, Jump lyrically talks about self-empowerment in new relationships - a theme which was well received by music critics, along with it's comparisons to Keep It Together (one source noted it was like a sequel). Jump had very good chart success for a fourth single from an incredibly successful album, reaching the Top 10 in many countries such as Finland, Spain, Canada and UK as well as number one in Hungary and Italy. However, despite its Top 10 peak, Jump had a very short chart run in the UK with its sales only reaching just over 50k. Not only that but it missed the US Billboard Hot 100 (although reached the top spot on the US Hot Dance Club Play chart). Madonna has only performed Jump on one of her tours (The Confessions Tour), but has performed it in London night clubs as part of the promotional campaign for Confessions on a Dance Floor and has sampled it during her Into the Groove performance on the Sticky and Sweet Tour. Opinion I can very rarely find any fault in the Confessions album and this certainly doesn't differ to that. After a quick rank of the album, I'd place Jump as my fifth favourite (third favourite Confessions single). It has a simple beat and lyrics, but the outcome is perfect! I know a lot of people dislike the video as it's very minimal, but I quite like it (it was filmed during touring after all and is at least an improvement on Get Together's video). I love the tour performance: all the flips and acrobatics and jumping all over the stage is just fantastic! January 26, 201312 yr Good choice this week Liam, Jump is flawless as a song, great remixes too. The only bad thing I could say is the video was too rushed and I wish she did about more moving like the dancers during the perform clearly she can't do everything while singing but maybe a bit more intense then she did do on the show. Overall it was amazing though.
January 26, 201312 yr Author Yeah, a bit more of Madonna "doin' her thang" would be nice. :P I did noticed that there was a bit near the end where she joined in during the instrumental, but I agree that it would be nice for that to be longer.
January 27, 201312 yr The live video is amazing but I don't like the official music video! Was jump used in the nightclub gigs? I thought the set list was something like Hung up Get together I love New York Let it will be Everybody Edited January 27, 201312 yr by vibe

January 27, 201312 yr Author I went to the gig at the Astoria jump was not performed and I don't see it included in that video either it's just everybody? There's a bit at the end. Perhaps it was only selected gigs where she performed Jump.
January 27, 201312 yr Jump is TREMENDOUS. Easily in my Madge top 10. In retrospect it probably should've been the third single. It did as well as Get Together in most territories... if it had been blessed with a better video I'm sure it would've been a decent sized hit. That bassline is bloody INSANE and the lyrics are camp as hell. My sisters and me indeed.
