or a compromise somewhere in between the two styles (if that's even possible) :P

I think it's possible. You could even make Bassline Junkie more mainstream by just adding high-pitched synths (think like Domino, Call Me Maybe, We Found Love, etc.) over it so it appeals more to the older audience, and sounds better on the radio. The thing is, Bassline Junkie isn't made for the radio, it's made for clubs, where having the high frequency synths would be completely pointless, since you wouldn't be able to hear them at all in clubs where the bass frequencies are turned up really high.

I can't believe it's so high on iTunes. I think if his record label knew this would happen they would've held the song back more and tried to get it on Radio 1's playlist pre-release so it could debut in the top 10.

Thrift Shop doesn't appear on the iTunes website top 10 does it? if it did then it would be #1 now.

It would have had a "Gangnam Style top 10 effect" if it showed up there.

If not appearing in the iTunes top 10 homepage has no effect then there is no such thing as the top 10 effect. Look how quickly Gangnam Style went from #10 to #2 in the same day, before it got into the top 10 it was climbing quite slowly and it didn't have "Explicit" next to it so it was on the homepage for everyone to see hence why it went up so quickly that day. Thrift Shop would have been at #2 days ago if it showed up on the homepage.

3. It is not so easy to find, so I'm pretty sure it has no effect on any sales of these countries.

4. It doesn't show the explicit versions of songs, but the iTunes itself has it on front page. Why not downloading it and checking before asking? :D

Not sure how long this has been out but I expect it'll get a lot higher than this. Might go top 40 on iTunes (did 'She Will' do that?) It's been top 5 on US iTunes for about a week.

Really? I dont use iTunes so i thought that if it doesn't show on the top 10 website then it doesn't show at all on iTunes. Screenshot the iTunes homepage then please so that i can see it then i will know the true facts.

BTW if anyone has iTunes, would never check that site you showed, because he/she will go to the iTunes itself check for updates, new releases etc. So that chart has only influence on those people who don't have the application, but they will never buy on iTunes anything.
