This is even cheaper than the Figure 8 video. It's like they wasted their entire budget making Anything Could Happen. I can see why they rushed to release this but the song deserved better.
Yeah I realise they needed to get one out quick but would it have been that hard for them to film an actual video? It's one thing not doing promo but no (proper) videos? That's annoying.
I'm basically contradicting myself here (I was all for them pushing on with the release), but this is ridiculous. It's good they haven't left it until May or something totally stupid but not even bothering to put together a proper video?! I know they're probably just trying to ride the momentum of the advert and the R1 playlisting but they could have at least just left the video.... Maybe this is temporary until they film a proper one? Doubt it though.

I think for an unplanned single that's taken off while she's busy doing a US tour, it's pretty decent. Yes, live videos are crap, but I think it was either this or nothing at all until about March so it'll do.

See the thing that I wonder is how exactly the advert took them by surprise. Aren't labels notified of these things in advance?

I'm sure they were aware of the advert, just I don't think they quite expected Explosions to do as well it has off the back of it.

Yeah, I expect they thought it'd go top 100 at best, it's taken them by surprise! I'm thinking they probably had a video for something else in the can but they've been forced to go for this.

That's true, I didn't think of that somehow. I'd say knowing that a minute of a song is going to be featured on a fairly longrunning ad is a good enough reason to think it worth trying as a single, but then I don't think anyone here thought 'Explosions' would be a hit anyway (I certainly didn't) so perhaps they were being cautious. In which case, well done Polydor (still mad about the video though).

I'm glad, but a bit disappointed that the far superior Figure 8 isn't having this success - but I do like Explosions, and this seems to be a really good era for Ellie, so good on her getting another hit!
I dont mind the video, I think the ACH video is a lot worse. Plus, dont videos take ages to film, edit? Unless we got something like your song.

ACH?! That's probably my FAVOURITE video from her, the imagery is fantastic, and looks like it's had a budget put towards it!

How so? The album hasn't even sold 200k in the UK, only 1 single's been a top 10 hit and save for a high debut, the album's freefalling on the Billboard charts.

They can always save the campaign with I Need Your Love.

They need to. Not only is it a nice (albeit cliched) song, but Calvin is HOT right now and that collab itself guarantees her radio interest.

I think they're waiting for a late spring/early summer release. Though I'd like to see My Blood as the next single, I think I Need Your Love is definitely happening, because Ellie is the most popular non-single feature on Calvin Harris' album.

'I Need Your Love' has a UK release date of April 22nd.

'Explosions' is a brilliant song, love it. I am still kind of bitter that 'Figure 8' didn't do well.

Didn't notice, thanks!
