Posted February 2, 201312 yr Sky Fits Heaven ● (1998) ● 'Ray of Light' http://i46.tinypic.com/2ib2j5v.jpg Background Sky Fits Heaven appears as the 7th song on Madonna's 7th studio album 'Ray of Light' and was written and produced by Madonna and Patrick Leonard (responsible for previous Madonna hits such as Live to Tell, La Isla Bonita, Like a Prayer and Frozen) with William Orbit helping on the production. The song captured the two main aspects of her life at the time: her spiritual studies and her daughter Lourdes. Sky Fits Heaven later appeared as the B-side to the third single Drowned World/Substitute for Love and was popular enough to chart on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs, peaking at #41. Opinion This holds a place in my Top 5 for Ray of Light, which is probably my second favourite Madonna album: so calm and relaxing, the minds of Madonna, Leonard and Orbit have just created a masterpiece and I would recommend this album to any new fan or anyone who begs to differ Madonna's brilliant writing and singing talents. Sky Fits Heaven's chorus is so stunning, as is the dreamy "travelling, travelling". I'll have to check out the Drowned World Tour on YouTube as I found the Sky Fits Heaven/Mer Girl clip really creative. I don't really like Mer Girl when listening to the album but I think it went well mashed up with Sky Fits Heaven. February 2, 201312 yr I love this song it's def single worthy an the performance on the tour was outstanding! She certainly wrote her best lyrical songs with leonard
February 2, 201312 yr Author She's recently re-collaborated with William Orbit for MDNA, so perhaps a reunion with Patrick Leonard isn't out of the question. A quick look on Wikipedia, this is the full list of songs he's worked with Madonna on: Writing and producing Live to Tell, La Isla Bonita, Where's the Party, White Heat, Love Makes the World Go Round, Who's That Girl, The Look of Love, Like a Prayer, Cherish, Till Death Do Us Part, Promise to Try, Pray for Spanish Eyes, Act of Contrition, Dear Jessie, Oh Father, Supernatural, Hanky Panky, Cry Baby, He's a Man, Now I'm Following You, Something to Remember, I'll Remember, Frozen, Nothing Really Matters, Has to Be, Sky Fits Heaven, Skin Producing only To Have and Not to Hold, The Power of Good-Bye, I'm Going Bananas, Open Your Heart
February 2, 201312 yr There's Rumours that she will work with Patrick again for a soundtrack song this year but don't get your hopes up for either.
February 2, 201312 yr Author That would be nice as Madonna's soundtrack songs are especially good lyrically.
February 2, 201312 yr Author What about Hanky Panky & Die Another Day ;) ?. Hmm, well apart from them! :P Great songs, but I don't think they are known as lyrical masterpieces! :P
February 2, 201312 yr No, I was just kidding highlighting them lol. Actually I really love Hanky Panky.
February 3, 201312 yr They're silly but I love the lyrics of DAD! As for Sky Fits Heaven, total masterpiece obviously.
