I'm predicting One Direction will drop to #3 by midday and #4 by this evening (possibly further). It will be interesting to see whether their performance can 'save' them. I think destined for another #3 hit with this; but I hope they get #2 or #4 just for something different in their discography!

Rumour has it Emeli is singing Clown on the BRITs tonight. Could she do an Adele and hit #1?
Is the Explosions advert still being shown? I'm trying to work out if the sudden iTunes rise is still due to the advert, the reduced price or the fact that she is getting radio play (or a combination of all 3)

Combination of all three i would say - blist on radio 1!

Skyfall top 30 before the brits - could go top 20 if it does well tonight and the dvd only on sale this week!!

Yeah, the advert is on all the time

I hope Mariah does well with this - first song by her for years that I've actually liked (Don't Forget About Us was the last one)

Does anyone else think Macklemore could 'do a Gotye'? i.e. he'll have one week at #1, another front-loaded song knocks him off for 1 week and then he returns for multiple weeks? Looking at the release schedule nothing is looking to knock him off until Icona Pop/The Saturdays week (and they'll only do well if they get big airplay).

But the difference is that he'll/they'll likely have a (multiple) pretty successful hit(s) after.

I think so! What's funny is how I Could Be The One debuted at #1 on the same week that Hot Right Now went to #1 in 2012, Macklemore is definitely this year's Gotye  Of course there is the possibility of the BRITS having an effect on the #1 single, or Baauer climbing to #1.

One of today's papers suggest Muse will open the Brits with Supremacy and Emeli Sande will close with Clown. Both could do well afterwards.
Yay at Muse opening but Emeli closing is surely going to be a bit of a non-event? It's hardly "Someone Like You". (I know that didn't close the show by the way)
People will just turn off when ms boring and overexposed comes on to close the show

They can't end with Clown, they normally end with something fun or happy. Taylor Swift would be a good choice to close the show! Look at the past two years: they ended with Cee Lo Green/Paloma Faith and Blur - hardly a piano ballad ending.

I believe that 1D will top the chart after the Brits, all of the performances will end up top 20!

Yeah said this when Thrift Shop was charging up the chart but its not quite selling as much as Gotye was, you never know though!!

It may not be selling as much, but it's having too similar a chart run!

Speaking of people calling Emeli overexposed, I read this article yesterday about her opinion on that subject matter: http://www.gigwise.com/news/79662/emeli-sa...-is-overexposed

She has a fair point tbf.

She does, after all being a self-publicist and an attention seeker is part of the job description for a pop star and she's far from the worst. It's just that her management can't seem to decide whether they want her to be a ubiquitous pop star or a likeable songstress, and for the latter she probably is overexposed.

Yeah but the 15-20k less sales may mean that its chart run gets ruined by held back releases. Same with Avicii it sold 94k this time last week whereas Hot Right Now sold 127k - less popular songs this year!
