   -_-

I must agree. I listened to the album the other day again and I just find it simply astonishing that such a bland album could sell so much. I think TT are nice lads and work very hard but the music is just so samey. I mean each song is a ballad and a more depressing one than the last at that :( I mean to think some people thought IC was bland when it came out. It is like the most exciting album in excistance when compared to this

But bland sells in the UK does'nt it?? If they had've released a load of upbeat pop songs like their brilliant older material I doubt it would've sold over 400k this week -_-

The UK doesn't like bland.

Take that has been sold off the back of a good single (Patience) and a high feel good factor profile on the TV.

Robbie flopped because of a single that takes an awful lot of listening to until you get it. Remember how you didn't like it yourself at first Scotty! Then realise that few people heard it more then once of twice. If people listened to it a dozen times or so, it would of been a different story, but they didn't so they turned away. Poor choice of lead single by the Robbie promoters IMHO.

Yes, I do agree about the singles, but that was'nt the only reason. Robbie has'nt promoted the album whatsoever nor have the record company. TT along with other big acts have adds on the TV all the time - but EMI just expect the album to walk off the shelvs without any effort <_<

I disagree about bland selling in the UK. It does when you think about it. I mean some of the biggest selling albums in recent years have all been made up of nothing but slow ballads, such as James Blunt and Dido. The reason these sell alot is due to people seeing it as a 'safe' buy if you ask me. It won't offend anyone really. Jupiter said a while back that someone as vercitile as David Bowie would'nt last five minutes in todays market and I agree. :(

Scotty

I agree with you - Robbie's album is completely different to everything else out there -. With so many ballads being played constantly on the Radio people have been brainwashed into that way of thinking & cannot relate to anything else.

If Robbie's next album is different again, that is great for those of us who are diverse in their music but for the ' Waltz around the room set ' - forget it - they want that constant music that puts you to sleep.

I do like an odd ballad but not 24 Hrs a day drilled into my brain.

Robbie is way ahead of his time - I hope he has the courage to stick with it - he does not have to do it for the money anymore - so do it for yourself Robbie.

Bought Rudebox yesterday and love it,great album.Instantly liked it on first listen.People who haven't bought it are missing out on a good album.Have the TT album and like that too. :o

Glad to see you like it. It has to be one of the most underrated albums of the year :(

It's only underrated because hardly anyone has bought it. Because they are all diddys. :(

Glad that you like it Chris..its brilliant isn't it and seems to get better on every listen.

Try and talk your friends into buying it...if Robbie won't promote it...we sure as hell will :yahoo:

Good on Ya - Great Album

Tell all your pals - that's what I have done

Looks like its gonna be at No 8 in UK charts this week according to Sunday People

Jupiter9

Yes - That is what is siad in The People Newspapers & it was also at No 8 in Woolworths Digital downloads - so I dont know - just hoping

Now that would be good news.

Must be people buying it with their Christmas money.

Maybe someone else on this site can confirm as I am not too familiar with the workings of the Charts - however I would have expected it to climb the charts over Xmas - some other Albums released around the same time seem to have climbed back up the charts again - if Rudebox did not move upwards Xmas week we might as well write off the album which would be a great pity as people dont realise what a good album it is. So go on you undecided people out there - Buy it - It's great.

another British press lie

Rudebox is No.36

I have given up hoping, I never thought that Robbie would only have less than half a million UK fans. I don't hold with these other fans that claim they love Robbie but didn't buy the album.

I guess they are not like me, if I don't like something Robbie does and there have been some, I have always given his music a fair chance. Most of what Robbie does always grows with the listener, after ten years they would surely know that also, everything Robbie does is utterly professional.

Oh well, onto the next project. I want to forget this one :(

I dont blame you but anyway I am glad that he made this album & will continue to love it - I should have known that the Press would get it wrong again.

apparently The People newspaper got the No.8 position from the Woolworths chart and download where it is No.8. Well, that is something. :)

You know I wonder how many people copied it when it was leaked on the internet and how many people copied it when it was put up on the Official. I ask you fancy putting the whole song on there. The site is not secure.

We must not forget though that Rudebox went to No.1 in eleven countries and I do think this album will constantly sell in small numbers for a long time. Don't ask me why I think that but I do.

Alot of young lads I know love the album and they have been passing the ONE original about and unfortunately, a ton of them have bl**dy copied it. :o I keep telling them to go and buy it, but no, the youngsters want it for free.

Rudebox may not be a big seller in the Robbie scope of things but it has caused interest with a ton of people that did not like what he did before.

So from that point of view, I have to take a positive from it.
