I used to be a big fan of Simple Minds in the 80's, in the early days they were sometimes compared to U2. They had 5 no. 1 albums between 84-92 and loads of hit singles, although only 1 no. 1. They were at their peak in 85/86 with the album Once upon a Time, which spawned the hit singles:Alive and Kicking,Sanctify Yourself, Ghostdancing and All the things she said. Album sales worldwide topped 30 million.

But I preferred their earlier stuff like Love song,Promised you a miracle,Glittering prize and Someone Somewhere(In Summertime).

Great live band. Any other fans? B)

I loved Simple Minds :cheer:

One of my favourite songs was The American. ^_^

I thought they were great in their early days, but from the mid-80s they became rather bland and uninspiring. Their 1980-81 period was by far the best, with the two years on either side quite good.

I'd agree with that to be honest. When they became this horrendous, Americanised "Stadium Pomp Rock" band is when I pretty much started to hate them.. Jim Kerr just became this insufferable, arrogant arseh0le...

And we've got Simple Minds to thank for the likes of Coldplay really.... <_<
