Actually, the #97 entry for 'Best Of Bowie' is marked as a new entry and the one at #75 has 234 chart weeks so #75 probably is the 2002 album - just a question of what the hell the #97 one is? The artwork listed next to it is the artwork of the 2002 album.

Perhaps this is why the #75 was missing, this looks like a complete OCC cockup.

It does seem quite strange. When I saw it had 234 weeks previous it made me think that surely they would have something on their database title/artwork wise to not get them mixed up

You must have been reading my mind I was a bit suspicious over that #75 album, I'm just asking someone on Haven over it, hopefully he will come back to me.

Blue return to the album chart :o Thank god Hurts went top ten but I'm fully expecting it to undeservedly crash out of the top 40 next week :(

I hope Hurts don't crash out of the Top 40. It's an ace album with some really good tracks on it.

Re: #75 Album is David Bowie - Best Of Bowie 23 weeks in the chart and a re-entry to the chart, but no Cat No. so I'm still in the dark, I might be able to find the Cat No. on the MW chart pack later.

Its the number of weeks that got me now, have a feeling 234 is a typo from OCC

Two "milestones" for me to mention this week

Will.i.am 200 weeks top 75

Olly Murs 100 weeks top 50

Rather a mess with the albums this week, along with the whole David Bowie situation there's also the matter of the Sound City compilation and the OCC apparently changing their mind about Miloš Karadaglić's album which was listed as 'Latino Gold' last week but has now reverted to 'Latino' (I had a feeling that it was being counted as a deluxe version despite the new title last week; I have gone back and amended it to a re-entry instead of a new entry on last week's chart). :drama: Anyhow...

Dropping out:

Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto [from #4]

Notes:

[A] +10 as a member of Pussycat Dolls (includes one already counted in the 11 above, credited to 'A.R. Rahman and Pussycat Dolls feat. Nicole Scherzinger'); +1 as a member of Artists For Haiti

[B] +1 as a member of St. Lunatics (already counted in the 27 above, credited to 'Nelly and St. Lunatics')

[C] Charting due to use on Internet Explorer ad

[D] As a solo artist

[E] +2 as a member of Tin Machine

[F] Counts towards the artists albums chart by masquerading as a film cast / Dave Grohl album but is really a Various Artists compilation, as such there is no hit count as 'Various Artists' is a generic credit rather than an artist

[G] 99.9% certain this is an OCC error as it seems to be identical to the album of the same name at #75, in fact this was originally listed on the OCC website as having 233 weeks in the chart while the #75 album was completely missing but this has now been amended and #75 now has 234 weeks while #97 is marked as a new entry

:( at 'Mylo Xyloto' dropping out, from a relatively comfortable position as well!

Is this really the first time Example's The Evolution of Man has fallen out of the Top 100? :o Would have thought that considering how bad it's chart run was in the first few weeks, it would have fallen out, at least before the Graham Norton boost.

Yup, it actually held up really well until two weeks ago (apart from its original plummet):

13-38-52-65-67-62-58-64-67-64-64-62-53-56-62-83-x

Wow, that's quite an interesting chart run. :o I knew it had hung around the ~60 mark for a few weeks but had no idea it had been that long. I'm still lost with the closure of Chart Stats.

Spot the bizarre album re-entries this week :

Main abum chart :

#147 Rod Stewart - Merry Christmas Baby.

Budget album chart

#41 Various Artists - Rockin' Around The Xmas Tree

Yeah, I noticed Rod Stewart's album re-entering, it must be very discounted in price. Same with the compilation album, but since it was on the Budget Chart it probably only sold 10 copies. :P

Getting on for 1k, I'd estimate.

I did some research regarding the two David Bowie's best of.

In 1980, David Bowie apparently released 'The Best Of Bowie' which hit no 3

Maybe one of those entries was the 1980 best of (I would bet is the number 97 entry)

I thought this, but they have the same artwork and the same 'buy' link on the OCC website (and anyway it can't possibly be the 1980 album as they're both listed as EMI releases, the 1980 album was released on K-tel).

True

The OCC should just combine the two sales and make number 101 the number 100 entry. Anyone know who is at 101?
