Many fans and critics believe wrong single choices was the downfall for MDNA. Lead single Give Me All Your Luvin' seemed too much of a desperate attempt to capture a young audience with the presence of Nicki Minaj and M.I.A and didn't represent the album, whilst Girl Gone Wild's lyrics were criticised and the song sounded similar to hits by Usher and Britney.

To celebrate one year since the worldwide release of MDNA, here you can choose the singles you'd have liked to have been released. Which songs do you think would have appealed to the public more? Which ones represented the album best? Which would have been seen as a progression in Madonna's discography rather than a regression?

Perhaps explain why you think the tracks that were released as single weren't successful, why they weren't right to be a single.

Please don't take the mick and select all or most tracks, about 3 or 4 songs would be perfectly suitable.

My Single Choices

For me, I would have started off with I'm Addicted. It's been deemed the best song on the album by many critics so chances are it will have been appreciated by the public and fans too. Unlike Give Me All Your Luvin', it's not 'silly' so radio may have been more keen on playing it and also sums up what MDNA is about: electronic-dance beats, partying and love of music.

Second would be Masterpiece. In the past, it's proved to be a good way of promoting albums by releasing an up-beat lead single followed by a ballad or a slower paced song as they are the "album sellers". This is my favourite from the album which seems to be the case with many others due to it's release as a promo single and debut in the UK Top 75 upon album release. Also with the release of W.E., it would make sense for this to be released as a single around the same time. I feel it shows Madonna is still a great singer and songwriter despite this album which celebrates partying and disco.

Gang Bang is unmistakably a highlight on the album! It's just oozing with attitude, anger, revenge and boldness. A video for this would be brilliant, although I doubt it will be picked up radio or TV due to the amount of controversy it would spark! That's why I'd choose it as a "promo single".

It would only be right for one of the vocal collaborations to be released and I Don't Give a would be the best choice for me. Nicki Minaj's part seems more relevant to the song than the rap in GMAYL and fits in with the rest of the song. It's also quite different to any of Madonna's previous material and Nicki's too.

01. I'm Addicted (January)

02. Masterpiece (March)

03. Gang Bang (promo) (June)

04. I Don't Give a (feat. Nicki Minaj) (August)

1. Masterpiece . Released when she was promoting the film when this was getting played on radio 2 a list. Should have been released the week she went on graham norton. Doesn't reflect the album however it's mature and could have been a hit which would have led to more radio support!

2. I'm addicted. Very current , catchy should have been the lead single that wasn't from her film. This is simply an album highlight and so Madonna , I don't feel she's trying to attract the youngsters with this track!

3. Gang bang / GGW double a side ! The video firstly would have been insane for hang bang and would have created a huge buzz! The remixes also could have been amazing! I don't think radio would have played it so they could have played GGW which lyrically fits lyrically with gang bang! I do say that GGW is one of my fav ever music videos from M though!!

GGW was released totally at the wrong time IMO it was rushed and after the flop or disappointment of GMAYL radio didn't support it!

4. Love spent - my fav track from the album, lyrically honest and it shows the album was not all about electronic dance beats! The radio stations that played masterpiece would definitely have playlists this too !!

GMAYl was a terrible single choice even when the song leaked it wasn't loved by anybody..... I expect the label paid Minaj so much money they really wanted to release it! It seems that this was the first time Madonna really failed in releasing the bet songs as singles! She usually gets this correct
