Hi. I've been compiling my personal chart for several weeks now on another forum, and since I've been posting on Buzzjack for a while, I thought I'd start posting it here as well. So, yeah, I say it's week 1, but it's only week 1 on here. Now, I've got it all sorted out to the beginning of this year as regards to chart runs, and some tracks that were big favourites of mine late last year, I've sorted out (guessed) chart runs for them as well. Also, there are several old tracks and album tracks here.

 

Anyway, I'm just experimenting with the layout here, and apologies if I went overboard with it:

 

In this chart, Gorillaz are finally toppled by themselves, with the track that should have been a single off Plastic Beach.I got the albums recently, and :wub:. Elsewhere, I've discovered that Like Toy Soldiers is the new (yeh, I know, a bit late) Stan, and Happy Now continues to grow on me, while Gorillaz' first single completes the top 5.

This week, after 4 weeks of ruling my charts, Gorillaz fall, to be replaced, by, of all people, Kesha. I have complained about Kesha in the past, for making party songs that sound all the same, most recently for getting number 1, while my Wombats had to settle for number 35 in the same week :(. Yes, a little bit unrealistic, but I do remember complaining about that.

However, Blow has changed my mind. Epic song. Take That also move up to 2, Avril's older offering My Happy Ending moves up to 4 and Adele completes the top 5 with Set Fire To The Rain. The final new entry to the top 10 this week is LMFAO. Now that is how you do a party song.

Lower down, in anticipation of them impacting the charts (hopefully), Hush Hush and Alligator Sky move within spitting distance of the top 10, followed by the ending track on Rihanna's A Girl Like Me.

Nicole and Kanye's current hits see a slight revival in my chart, while the highest of this week's new entries, Cee-Lo Green's Bright Lights Bigger City scrapes in behind them.

A similar situation happens a few places down with Broken Record and On The Floor, followed by a reentry. Brandon Flower's Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts impacted the chart slightly back in March. Now it secures a new peak.

Two more new entries follow soon after, yet another album track from the cutie that is Alexis Jordan, and Natalis Kills' Mirrors.

Britney debuts on my chart with Till The World Ends at 36, and at 43, Basshunter's lead single from last year, Saturday enters.

The final two entries are from Nicki Minaj and The Hoosiers, towards the bottom, while at the bottom end of the chart, Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves) continues to be by far the longest running track in the chart.

Chart commentary:

Heading up a massive 15 new entries this week, the boyband Twenty Twenty jumps straight to the top of the chart with their single Love To Life, narrowly beating off Adele in the process. While last week's number 1, Ke$ha, drops to a safe 3, the other two new entries to the top 5 in the form of LMFAO and Chris Brown are predominantly party, dance singles (and as such are helped in the chart by my friends playing them at school a lot). Jessie J with Nobody's Perfect lands at 7, while after I finally pulled Nero out of the background noise, I discovered I loved it a lot more than their previous attempt Me & You, which, had I a hate chart, would have been at #1 for a long while.

Back to the chart, and the next new entries are from Wretch 32 and New Boyz, followed by a reentry and a new entry to the top 20: All Of The Lights and On The Floor.

5 new tracks enter between 20 and 30, Blue's Eurovision entry, Beyonce's Run The World, SOS by Take That, and behind them, Tinie continues to be Simply Unstoppable (Invincible and Wonderman were in my chart for ages, and I'm sure the other 4 would have been at some point, but I can't be bothered to backdate). Finally, Yasmin just gets to the top 30 with Finish Line.

After one listen last night, Dev's Bass Down Low jumps in at 33, and Pitbull enters at 40. The final three new entries come from In The Air by Chipmunk at 50, Judas by Lady Gaga limping in at 47, and Techno Fan by the all-conquering Wombats at 44. The two Wombats singles still in the chart both see a climb as well; it's album release week.

Not all of the movements are positive, however, Eminem's Like Toy Soldiers and Gorillaz' On Melancholy Hill (the latter of which hung around the top 20 for ages) both see a staggering fall of 22 places, and many others see falls of 10-16 places. Of the tracks leaving the chart, they include a 4 week number 1, Rocketeer, and On A Mission, which had racked up 14 weeks in the chart.

Chart Commentary:

While a slightly subdued number of 10 entries this week, it still makes a large difference to the chart, as many of the previous week's new entries move up in the chart. If this chart had 'sales', they'd be increased on almost everything this week, as I still feel as positive about a lot of the songs I'm dropping a large amount of places. On top, Noah And The Whale's Tonight's The Kind Of Night rockets up straight to the top.. Shout For England-style, due to being the latest addition to this chart. Its Frisky: Blue, gains a very respectable peak nonetheless :wub:, followed by Adele and the climbers Nero and Wretch 32. Below them, Alligator Sky, finally added to UK iTunes, enters the top 10, followed by a new entry that is Avril's next single and my highlight from Goodbye Lullaby, Smile, and behind them, Twenty Twenty drops from 1 to 8. At 12, Backseat moves closer to the top 10, followed by Nova from the Sound Of Arrows. At the bottom of the top 20, On The Floor and SOS move up, and The Lazy Song debuts at 20 (mainly due to it's video, but also because I like the song now :P). 4 new singles in a row from 23-26, headed by the only thing I'm likely to chart from Glee besides DSB, Bottoms Up (another song boosted due to it's video, but also Nicki/Roman's guest spot), a solo effort from Skylar Grey, who has already gained both a #2 and a #1 from the chart in early 2011, and finally, Selena Gomez with Who Says. Techno Fan begins to rise as well, already doing better than Anti-D? Can it equal the success of Tokyo and JITF though?

At 31, Stylo reenters the chart, followed by a song that I attribute it's success here to the various retro looks on BJ. I looked up Survivor, and after a couple of listens, I was in love.

 

Judas DOES climb a bit this week, followed by a belated entry from Snoop Dogg.. I'm imagining Sweat to be my Down On Me a little. Jump Into The Fog falls out of the top 40 for the first time, and McFly have a small reentry with That's The Truth.

 

In other news, Tokyo finally leaves the chart... again. Will it return? I guess I'll find out.

Chart Commentary:

 

As it is Eurovision week, we have 3 new entries reflecting that. The highest of these is Azerbaijan's entry Running Scared, at 11, followed by Sweden's Popular at 16, along with Hungary's What About My Dreams scraping in at 46. Can't have too much of a takeover, can we? :P . Blue also climb to #1, knocking off Noah and The Whale, but only just. Elsewhere, with the premiering of their music videos, my two babes Alexis Jordan and Rihanna rise to 3 and 5 respectively. :heart: Right now, they can expect to be in the top 10 for a while. The highest new entry comes from Wiz Khalifa's Roll Up at 9, with Backseat scraping itself a top 10 placing at the bottom end.

Almost the whole of 11-20 are new or 2 week tracks, along with Running Scared and Popular, there are two new entries; one Example, a brilliant new single, and the other a re-discovery. It seems there's going to be one every week at this rate. Haven't been able to stop listening to O-Zone this week. Well.. less so than the 13 tracks above it, but..

Bottoms Up and The Lazy Song also see small climbs, as do Loser Like Me and Techno Fan on the other side of the top 20. Speaking of the 20, Love To Life is down to 20 in its third week. <_ blow is almost as bad. david guetta and wynter gordon form the last of this weeks new entries at finish line saved from chop by its release week gains a peak. do judas sweat while jump into fog changes direction yet again it refuses to leave chart.>

The biggest faller this week comes from, who almost fall right out of the top 40. 41 - 50 is mainly made of fallers, but regular charter My Interpretation reenters to begin its 3rd chart run.

Chart Commentary:

With a new number 1 this week, Alexis claims her second number 1 atop my chart, the first being Happiness in December 2010. Running Scared, the winning track at Eurovision, moves up to 2, with Rihanna close behind the duo. Blue and Noah do however keep the ratio of females to males in my top 5 fairly even (assuming that Blue and Noah are counted as 1 each :P). Eric Saade and David Guetta also move up to claim places in the top 10.

The highest new entry comes from Hurts, who have had hits in my chart before with Sunday (peak #45), Wonderful Life (#7 in 2011), and Stay (peak unknown, #66 in 2011, as a faller. I backdate well, don't I :P). Illuminated outmatches at least Stay and Sunday in that regard then. Talking about Example for a second, his two tracks in the top 50 are both coincidentally the non-movers this week. Their appeal doesn't go away quick.

At #17, Gaga finally breaches the top 20 in my recorded chart. I say recorded, because Just Dance, Paparazzi and Telephone (the latter, through a reentry in early 2011, has at least #38) have all likely made it in the past. Unlike Born This Way, which peaked at #51, the peak which in all honestly says I should have charted it, when I backdated my top 100 this week, which explains why I'm talking so much. If that makes sense. Judas obviously peaked at #32, and is falling now. The Edge of Glory is a fine track, and it deserves its place in my top 20 though.

A re-entry at #22, and it's the soundgasm that is Gorillaz' Empire Ants. It earlier charted off 'cherrypicking', and now it starts it's proper chart run.

Nicole with her third consecutive top 30 hit on my chart is at 26, and a 4th Eurovision track, with Denmark's A Friend In London and New Tomorrow.

Chase N Status finally reach my top 50 officially. Now I like End Credits and Let You Go, and it took me a while, but I finally got Blind Faith (I admit I went through a period where I hated it, but I like it a lot now), Time finally gets onto my chart at 31.

A few spaces down, LMFAO is saved from freefall by being deposed at number 1, and Yasmin continues to act like a yo-yo, until we get to a new entry. Zoe Badwi, who I think is a new artist, enters with her dance-pop track Free Fallin'.

At 39, Give Me Everything reenters. It really is a tune that I shamefully just ignored. Survivor sees a small climb, due to it being exam week. I recall thinking of it as I walked out of a successful exam. :D. Don't Hold Your Breath and JITF are still hanging around, somehow, plus 4 more things to talk about. Firstly, at 43, Inna has a new entry with Sun Is Up. Not a patch on Amazing, but it's going in my chart. Mika reenters with his other regular track, I See You. This is due to me singing along emotionally to it. Beautiful song.

Judas is unfortunately the biggest faller this week, and last, at 50, enters my final Eurovision track. I think. Slovakia's entry which criminally didn't make it through the semis. The better pair of twins in this year's Eurovision.

Chart Commentary:

Finally, someone manages to hold onto the top spot for more than a week. That someone is naturally Alexis :wub:. I think I've been a little too brash with assigning #1s recently (see Blow and Love To Life). Rihanna finally gets close to the top spot, but will she ever score a #1 with CKB? Noah manages to show itself to be the best of my recent string of #1s, and the remainder of the top 5 is made up of a new entry from Take That, Love Love, giving them a 3rd top 5 this year after Kidz and Happy Now, and The Sound Of Arrows moving up to 5.

I have got Killer Love this week. An immediate hit for me is the title track, which along with a reentry of Poison, gives Nicole the title of most tracks in the top 50 this week, taking the crown from Gorillaz after who knows how many weeks. The final change in the top 10 comes from Mr Saxobeat entering high up, and Roll Up clinging on to the edge of the top 10.

What seems to be weekly now for me (and it isn't intentional, I swear, is entering a retro track, normally somewhere in the top 20). This week, following up O-Zone a couple of weeks ago, is Live Your Life. I'm not Rihanna obsessed. Really.

I'm Into You enters at #18. Really getting this one now. Worthy followup to On The Floor.

A pair of new entries at 30-31. The first, the Wombats, to replace the dearly departed Jump Into The Fog, with Our Perfect Disease, and the second, giving Clare Macguire her first entry into my top 50, the Shield and the Sword.

A side note, with Right There and DHYB beside each other at 26 and 27, and Techno Fan and OPD at 29 and 30: Dragostea din tei, you stand out there at 28.

One track not free falling is Zoe Badwi, which stays steady at 35. This was a hit in Australia, I would very much like it to be a hit in the UK. Hopefully.

And then, aside from a reentry for Dev, with Bass Down Low, that's about it for my chart. A relatively quiet week, I feel, aside from two former #1s dropping out.

I must really hate my past number 1s. That's 5 gone in the last 2 weeks. Looks like Blue'll be joining that list soon, but that's just my Eurovision tracks falling sharply.

At the top, we have an unchanged top 5, while Changed The Way You Kiss Me moves into that top 10. The highest new entry is Save The World (I'm just a sucker for anything with that sort of title), a very good dance track. I'm Into You of course enters the top 10, outpeaking On The Floor, which somehow gains itself another week

in the top 50.

In the 11-20 range, Gaga gains a new peak as the Edge leaps back to Glory. Smile gets saved partly because the upcoming release has reminded me to listen to it again (I think it's the right choice of single). Free Fallin' begins its rising as well. And yes, I'm going to give Pitbull the top 20 he deserves, finally.

Now, on to the majority of the new entries. I've gone a bit retro this week, several of my favourite tracks this week being older ones. The first one is Final Goodbye from A Girl Like Me (I find it impossible to not enter a RiRi track now and again. Man Down should be here soon, but I can't make any promises). I Need A Dollar is notably not so retro, but I've been listening to it a lot - It also seems to be the track that Radio 1 are playing whenever I switch it on. Like Hello, Me & You and Higher were earlier this year. This is not always a good thing.

Go Your Own Way is the most retro this week. Glee reminded me of its existence, and I started listening to the original a lot. Not the Glee version.

I've been exploring early Eminem recently, and I just got the Marshall Mathers LP. The Way I Am does stand out (Stan and Real Slim Shady aside) so it earns a place on here.

Bulletproof is an example of a track I've known for a while, but only recently, for some reason, I've began to like it a lot.

And then: What A Feeling and Notorious have rather low debuts, but I think they may well climb soon. In general, I love Kelly Rowland, so I'm sure WAF will climb. Can't wait to see her on X-Factor.

And Alexis secures another week at the top. However, it's getting challenged from Kelly Rowland and Alex Gaudino, who rocket up the chart. Example also moves up, closer and closer.

Hearing that the album had leaked (thanks to gooddelta) I listened to Dreams Don't Turn To Dust (I'm holding in the rest until All Things Bright and Beautiful is actually released), and it's a brilliant track. Somewhat of a merger of To The Sky and The Bird And The Worm. Lovely.

Bounce is another wonderful dance track. Really lovely. And my friends IRL really like it too (as they do Example).

Gaga does get into the top 10. It was a struggle, but she's done it. Best track she's ever released.

Business as usual in the rest of the chart, with two new entries from Foster The People and Mann, plus a reentry for LMFAO. Also of note is Bulletproof, which does move up the chart. I listened to it more this week.

Alexis is not my number one. Replacing her are Alex & Kelly, with What A Feeling. Bounce also moves up to 2. Other movement in the top 10: Zoe Badwi gets to 6, Tinchy and Dappy have a new entry with Spaceship, and the Saturdays push into the top 10 at 9 .

3 new entries at 18-20, Paramore, with their Transformers 3 song Monster, a retro entry from Shakira, and Nicola Roberts secures a high slot with Beat of My Drum. A song that I could easily find annoying, is actually rather good.

Coldplay enter at 23, and Katy B with her cheesy Easy Please Me at 28.

Rihanna reenters with Man Down, the first entry being from way back in February from when I got the album. As a single now, it moves in my chart, and marks the 6th major entry from Loud (Rihanna having a lot of other songs since my chart began, one being Breakin' Dishes further down), the others being the high peaking Only Girl, the relatively short-lived What's My Name and S&M, the medium-success of Fading and the great success of California King Bed.

Superbass and Arctic Monkeys enter at the bottom of the chart, while it can be noted, with the fallouts, that for the first time since October, there are no Wombats songs in my chart.

In other news, Paramore have a big rise, The Edge Of Glory gets back in the top 10 by virtue of being liked by the Shuffle, Dev finally cracks the top 20,

Ed Sheeran is a popular song with my friends, and I like it too, so it gets a top 20, while Superbass backs up the top 20.

Two more entries in the form of a free MP3 off of last.fm (Is good, though), and Bad Meets Evil. The last new is Enrique and Usher, followed closely by the best thing JLS have ever done (This was also liked by my shuffle).

 

I heard Backseat in a Swiss McDs. This was genuinely amazing, considering the usual culprits were abound with Give Me Everything, The Lazy Song and other older tunes. I do also recall hearing I Hate This Part by the Pussycat Dolls from a phone behind me, which also surprised me. Anyway, Backseat has a rise, and Owl City tracks see a bit of stability for reasons which will become clear when we get to the album chart.

 

Shakira (and other retros) are falling fast and hard. I like them in my chart, don't get me wrong, but I tend to be less forgiving on them when deciding ones to fall far, and entering them in the chart, and in general. (Entering a retro track into the top 10 would have normally got them the #1 had they been a newer track)

Beyonce is of particular note. Set to rise from her decent entry position this week, she leads the 11 new entries and 3 reentries.

Happiness, Tokyo and another Alexis track How Do You Like Me Now are the reentries, (followed by gasps of surprise, y'all)

As for retro tracks, I have two. Fix You - Coldplay for topical reasons, and Real Girl - Mutya Buena because it's a great song.

Commentary: Monster holds on for a second week, and Superbass climbs to 2, as a bit of BJSC shows itself in my chart, not least gooddelta's marvellous winning entry Chart Music. A great discovery, I've become a little obsessed with it.

A double Louder further down, last month's winner Charice and DJ Fresh both enter high. I hope to find even more gems when I enter (which I plan to in August)

Loick Essien also enters high. I'm looking forward to the top of the charts on Sunday.

I've always loved Cascada, and so, a little belatedly, San Francisco arrives in my chart, followed closely by M.A.G.I.C from the wonderful Sound Of Arrows

and Soundgirl.

End Of Time is one of the highlights on 4, so it leaps in at 33, and the Foo Fighters land at 37 with Walk.

Emeli Sande and Chase & Status make up the final two new entries.

Chart Commentary:

Well, Beyonce goes up to number 1, with Chart Music hard on her heels. Ed Sheeran moves up, and Loick Essien jumps into the top 10, as do both Louders.

First new entry comes from Melanie C with Rock Me, and the second from Sean Paul with Alexis Jordan :cheer:. I can take or leave Sean Paul, but Alexis's vocals here are brilliant. This is set to rocket next week.

Then it's Jason Derulo, which has grown on me after I originally dismissed it as generic...

Anyway, I've marked retro entries that have not charted before with a RT, and there are a few this week. Violet Hill and Breakeven are a result of checking a few tracks for Record Of The Decade, as is Delta Goodrem's Believe Again, well known round here as our Delta expert's favourite choice. :P

When I'm Gone and Propane Nightmares also enter, but I shall not mention what inspired me to check this out, lest I start a war in the chart forum, *kind of unsubtle hint*

Chart Commentary:

Leapfrogging from 25 to 1, Got 2 Luv U gives Alexis her 3rd chart topper on my chart. Her bits are absolutely glorious. http://forum.canterlot.net/images/emotes/mlp-robviously.png

Chart Music holds on at 2, while Beyonce slips to 3. Ed Sheeran continues to hold at 4, and Loick Essien inches into the top 5.

Further down the top 10, Owl City gets his 3rd top 10 from All Things Bright and Beautiful with Deer In The Headlights, and Eminem has the highest new entry of the week with Spacebound.

It is a rather quiet week for new entries, with the only other two being I Wanna Go by Britney Spears at 25, and Chris Brown's Next 2 U at 39, and the most significant movement aside from Sealexis being Beyonce's End Of Time, and Hitz and Glad You Came rising up the ranks.

 

Set Fire To The Rain and Don't Hold Your Breath, two of the longest running tracks in the chart, see significant rises because of this. DHYB, you may have noticed, only spent 3 weeks in the top 20, so the fact that it's on the way to becoming one of my favourite tracks this year...

Commentary: In a week with no other contenders for #1, Chart Music easily snatches the top away from Sean and Alexis. :wub: (for both) The top 10 remains much the same otherwise, aside from Eminem and Loick Essien moving up, causing Ed Sheeran to finally drop down to 6. Oh, and Britney vaulting into the rear end of the top 10.

The highest new entry comes from Six-D. Similar to Love To Life a while back, it's a rather trashy piece of pop-rock that I nevertheless quite like. It's my one weakness. :arrr:

Chart Commentary:

 

Loick Essien moves up to #1, being my guilty pleasure #1, really. That somehow links in with my subtitle. A little bit.

With the same top 5, and almost the same top 10, the most interesting thing about my chart this week is the BJSC invasion. I have just registered to take part in XXXVII as Séyetana, and my 5 favourite songs from the final enter at positions 12, 17, 24, 29 and 33. More may appear in the upcoming weeks. We'll have to see.

The only two new entries otherwise are Let Me Go by Maverick Sabre at 20 and Til I'm Gone by Tinie and Wiz at 30. Plus a re-entry for Heaven at 34. Aside from BJSC it's been a boring week. I've been pre-occupied with the rate other things in life.

Commentary: I don't often debut songs at #1. They have to be really instant and awesome for me to do that. As such, Titanium storms in to snatch a #1. It also made me listen to Tom Lehrer again.

 

 

Songs with element names tend to be very good (see also Evanescence - Lithium, and 3 Doors Down - Krypton(ite)).

 

In non-chemistry related subjects, along with Torchwood, Flójtavík, Kluminican Republic, Batidas and FSR Rontvia, who had their latest BJSC entries enter last week, they are joined by the entries of FYR Vojvodina-On-The-World, Unovia and Hendinia this week, or Monarchy, Oh My!, and Neon Hitch, going by the artists. It was a very strong contest. Really strong.

Sort of related, but I'm now dithering over my debut entry. I've found a few more. Listening and deciding will be required, I do want to come in with something I love and strong.

 

The other two entries are Nicole Scherzinger with Wet and The Saturdays with All Fired Up. As in, the catchy pop that I was going to enter sooner-or-later anyway. This is the BJ-side of my taste speaking. :P
