There's something about Gentleman that screams single, though.

It's hard to explain.

It's the structure of the song, I think. It doesn't follow the basic pattern of "verses, chorus, verses, chorus, middle-8, chorus". It's like Notorious, All Fired Up, they all have that something special in their structure. Even What About Us does with that pre-pre-chorus and pre-chorus (or 1st chorus?) and the catchy "oh why are we waitin'" hook, plus the final part of the song. I don't know, it screams "original, not basic, release it as a single!" and Gentleman also does.

I hope we're getting more of that.

I would say Wildfire is as good as Gentleman. Both has flaws and qualities.

I have to DISAGREE

Well I agree that Gentleman does scream single, but it seems like the 'Work' of this Era. Wildfire most likely would have fared better as a singel tbh.

So does everyone now hates Gentleman all over sudden?
I don't - it's a great, quirky little pop track. It's a shame some people suddenly turn on something and dislike it because it's not a success or whatever - it's silly. It was the same with WAU beforehand - a lot of people were against it (myself included) but after the #1 everyone suddenly jumped on the bandwagon and attached themselves to the track, saying they loved it and it was their best single etc - I'm still not mad on it but at the same time can see its appeal.

This is what annoys the hell out of it too

But I didn't post it because I wasn't sure if everyone who dislikes it disliked it before or they just got more vocal

I still love Gentleman and always will, after Higher, Issues and WAU this is their best track to date for me

I keep changing my mind about the song. Whenever I'm not listening to it I always think of it as terrible and cringey yet when I do end up playing it on my iPod I end up turning the volume right up and jamming to it. It's just a bit too messy and unpolished for me and I think if it had better production and more power in the chorus (and a MUCH better video) I'd like it alot more.
