Me too! It's the only show so far I'm interested in for next season. I'm sure that'll change when the trailers go online, especially if Fox are wheeling out some cop shows.

If you look on your TV planner now you'll see episodes of old shows that no longer air, repeats of crime dramas like Bones on 5 USA and stuff like that. That's syndication in action. It's just the airing of repeats on a different network.

People talk about 88 episodes or "If it's renewed for a third season it'll get a four for Syndication reasons". If you take the typical US TV show, it airs 22 episodes a season. Over four seasons that gives you the 88 episode figure. It is estimated to be the minimum number for 'stripped syndication'. Which is airing an episode every night of the week from Monday-Friday. Anything under this and you end up repeating yourself too often. A lot of studios will sell a 4th season of a show very cheaply to the network to get enough episodes for syndication. This is because it's a goldmine. Studios make hundreds of millions selling shows into syndication each year. If a network owns the studio that makes the show, like Fox does with Bones, then the network benefits from the syndication revenue and factors it in when they decide if they are going to renew that show or not.

Hope that helps!

I'm about a decade late, but thanks a lot for this explanations, it makes sense now !

Only six episodes for Nikita, although it could return for future miniseries runs depending on how it does in the ratings.

Enough to wrap it up nicely but at the same time that would be the lower end of the rumoured 6-13 episodes. Who knows, if only it hadn't dipped again last week.

4.6 The Big Bang Theory

3.4 Two and a Half Men

3.2 Scandal! :o

2.9 Grey's Anatomy

2.8 American Idol

2.4 Person Of Interest

2.3 The Office

2.1 Glee

1.8 Elementary

1.3 Community

1.1 Hannibal

0.9 The Vampire Diaries

0.5 Beauty & The Beast

Scandal up 6 tenths from last week and 4 tenths above the previous high!! Good night for The Office too, less so Elementary.

Good GOD at Scandal!! That's sensational, was really hoping it would make it to a 3.0 for the finale, but that's incredible and 0.3 above Grey's too. Who would have thought at the start of the season that Scandal would end up as one of the biggest, if not the biggest, drama on ABC.

Scandal is a tremendous success story. To think, this time last year you were declaring that it should be axed Euphorique! LOL

Watch ABC f*** it up next year.

Well based on last years ratings, it should've been axed. No one expected this turn around for the show

Looks like ABC have found their new Grey's! Those would be enviable ratings for a 8 or 9pm show never mind 10pm!

It would be insane if Scandal could maintain 2.7s next year or even continue to grow. I think it's unlikely, but I certainly wouldn't bet against it either...

I can see it hovering around there at least. Would be very interesting to see what happens to it once it starts syndication.
I think it'll hold around 2.5+ if the story lines next season are anything as good as Defiance and Albatross have been this season. Having a full 22 episode order from the off should be quite good for it too I think (assuming it gets one, which seems pretty likely at this stage). Albatross felt a little hampered by the start but having a clear direction from the off can only be a positive.
They really need to keep it and greys in the same slot next year.
I'm glad they're giving it the natural ending. THEY ARE, AREN'T THEY? RIGHT? PLEASE SAY RIGHT.

Go On has been cancelled.

Southland cancelled by TNT.

Looking at the more recent episodes of HIMYM, if the mother is reveled in the season 8 finale, I can't help but think that season 9 will end up with either Ted or the Mother dying.

Finals

4.9 The Big Bang Theory

3.5 Two and a Half Men

3.1 Grey's Anatomy

2.9 American Idol

1.9 Elementary

1.3 Wipeout

1.0 The Vampire Diaries

Yay Elementary. But next week the two hour finale faces Idol, Grey's and The Office as well as Scandal (which held it's 3.2, putting that on my Summer watchlist)
