I assume they'd leapfrog the song. Music channels aren't usually prone to promoting political views.
Fandango :o where did that come from, it must be the nutty season, 2013 is the year of the novelty whatever next "How much is that doggie in the window"

Ooh wouldn't mind that. What a classic! Though I imagine if there ever was need for a dog themed novelty song it would be 'Who Let The Dogs Out'. :P

Do we think Ding Dong could potentially stay at the top all week? The funeral's not til next Wednesday so with all the publicity around the song I could imagine it staying popular til then.

I cannot believe the #1..

genuinely ashamed to be British today

Judy and Fandango need to get out asap so Iggy can get in

Omg. Fandango.

I love him he so crap its hilarious. His entrance is amazing though

It will be a surreal experience hearing Fandango's entrance music on the chart show on Sunday. I think the song will be around #25.

If Judy Garland will be # 1, that it will the be the best UK # 1 single in last 2 years (in period after Little Mix - Cannonball)

ISTM, as much as anything else, it balances out the media's Thatcher lovefest of the last few days. You also have to remember that, even at the height of her power, the Tories never had more than 45% of the popular vote - so that's 55% of voters that *didn't* like them/her...

It certainly wouldn't be the *worst*. :)

Hope Paramore 'Still into you' gets top 20. Deserves it. Good song - definitely a grower - and very commercial
So it would appear We The Kings will be missing out on the T40 yet again. Why was it so high in the UK anyway? I assumed it's success in the US was from a limited fanbase and a $0.29 pricing.

That's like saying a song doesn't deserve to be #1 if it sells 45% of the total sales that week because 55% of the public didn't buy it. People were given the choice and she was the most popular choice. I've just never understood that argument.

Way off topic, but - it's not like that at all. You can buy as many songs as you want, you can only vote for one political party. And, in fact, Vidcapper is not even arguing that Thatcher shouldn't have won, but only making the point that it doesn't necessarily mean she was popular with most people.

As, indeed, a song getting to number 1 doesn't mean that it's popular with most people...

Fair enough. Maybe I misunderstood. I thought he meant she wasn't as popular as the alternative. It's fine anyway.

Looks like 'Pour it Up' will miss the Top 40. What was the last Rihanna single to do so?

I think it's still a little bit early to say that but nonetheless her last and possibly only UK single to miss the top 40 was 'Hard'.

-x-

1 Judy Garland (Et Al.) - Ding-Dong! the Witch Is Dead 1.0000

2 Duke Dumont - Need U (100%) [feat. A*M*E] [Radio Edit] 0.8026

'Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead' now comfortably #1 even with Duke combined (his second version is on 0.0767), although his EP is still selling decently (#17 on the album chart) - I think it should quite easily get to #2 now and could still challenge for #1 if its lead grows more, I don't think Duke Dumont will be selling a HUGE amount this week.
