I'm a bit bored of all these novelty/charity/one off songs shooting up the charts and then plummeting the next week. As if PJ and Duncan wasn't enough we now have TWO Margaret Thatcher songs about to be in the top 10. :(

I came to say the same thing! It's quite odd to see, and I hope it's not going to become more common somehow. Not that anything else that's overly interesting is happening now, but I don't like going away for a bit to return and see lolsongs slaying like nobody's business (feat. Chris Brown).

 9. Notsensibles - I'm in Love With Margaret Thatcher

 26. PSY - Gentleman

 58. British Collective - Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead

Looks like Notsensibles will definitely make the top 40 this weekend. I wonder whether it'll be played on the chart show.

LOL, Notsensibles Top 10 on the iTunes chart, not remotely funny anymore :( I feel like plugging The Beat track "Stand Up Margaret"
Sorry but what on earth is the Mandela sanitary towel about?!

It is the team logo for Red Drips, which is the team that I am part of in the Buzzjack Teams competition.

I think they probably will play I'm In Love With Margaret Thatcher. The reason they gave for not playing Ding Dong was that it was distasteful and obviously this isn't :P It is a bit 'one rule for one, one for another' though, I don't see why they don't just play Ding Dong anyway because it's not as if they endorse the campaign. Seeing as Ding Dong and I'm In Love With Margaret Thatcher will be two of the week's biggest selling singles they should be played, as far as I'm concerned, political or not.

I'm not sure whether I agree with the sentiment on novelty songs, I suppose it depends on the song. On the whole, I like a chart surprise but if it's a song I can't stand (for example Let's Get Ready To Rhumble) then I'm quick to take the side of a predictable non-#1 :P

How much will Judy Garland have to sell/get to on iTunes to make up the 12k gap?it would have to be 50% for a good number of hours would it not?
I honestly never, ever thought I would see the day that MARGARET THATCHER of all people was slaying the iTunes chart.

On another note - wonder if fall out boy will play the new single The Phoenix on Alan Carr tonight and Buble is on Graham Norton.

Anyone know who's on Wossy tomorrow?

1. Judy Garland (Et Al.) - Ding-Dong! the Witch Is Dead - 1.0000

2. Duke Dumont - Need U (100%) [feat. A*M*E] [Radio Edit] - 0.6289 (Second version at 62 has 0.0587)

9. Notsensibles - I'm in Love With Margaret Thatcher - 0.3215

I never thought Maggie Thatcher would have such a huge effect on the singles chart, the British public are all mad.

It's definitely going to be an INTERESTING chart show this week. I hope that they treat this song the same way as 'Ding-Dong!' (or change their mind about 'Ding-Dong!') but I imagine they'll probably play this one in full. They have less time to prepare what they're going to do with this one anyway :P Bet they're hoping it misses the top 40 so they can ignore it entirely, although I think it will have done enough to scrape in come midnight tomorrow.

Adele is  to #101 with 'One And Only', has this been used somewhere? It's close to being her highest track now, 'Skyfall' has taken quite a hit from all the 59p tracks and is down to #89.

It was used on Emmerdale earlier. :)

Well that performance on Alan Carr didn't do much for FOB. 'My Songs...' currently at #77.

I fear for Fandango's place in the top 40 on Sunday now thanks to that 2nd Margaret Thatcher song, it was #37 on the Friday update so hopefully it will at least stay there.

Notsensibles - I'm in Love With Margaret Thatcher  #6

Imagine if this song and Ding Dong! are the top 2 on iTunes by 6pm on Sunday

I don't think it will chart top 40 unfortunately, it will probz be around #60 on iTunes tomorrow. Gutted, it would have been fantastic to hear it on the chart show.

so is the notsensibles song favourable to thatcher, the singer said it was meant to be a parady but it was written in 1979 when she was just elected and before all of her controversy, so next week i assume it will be ding dong vs i live thatcher
