New single 'My God is the Sun' premiering on Zane Lowe's show tonight. Pumped.

Excited, Songs For The Deaf remains one of my favourite albums and the last two were largely excellent as well.

 

Dave Grohl and Nick Oliveri are back, Mark Lanegan is still there and guest appearances by Elton John and Jake Shears point to this being either album of the year or a complete mess.

SO GOOD.

Yep. Pretty much what you expect from QOTSA, amazing hook, fantastic drumming, bit of falsetto from Homme and some heavy guitars in the mix. Damn good!

I seem to be the only person in the world who is disappointed with this album. I just don't think it's a QOTSA album. A Josh Homme solo record for sure, just not The Queens (apart from My God)

My God is The Sun is superb (a personal chart #1) but the rest of the album is a real let-down so far yet every review so far seems to be looning over it, I just don't understand it.

Hmmm. I have listened to the album a few more times now and it is starting to make more sense.

It's a different kind of Queens album (obviously down to the experiences Josh Homme has had in the last 6 years.)

I don't think I have turned around on an album this much for ages. I have played it so much this last week.

I was the same as grebo at the start, just couldn't connect with it. But as with most of big albums this year, it took a few listens. I'm now head over heels for it. Fairweather Friends has become one of my favourite QOTSA tracks. The personel list on the album is insane, (' Trent Reznor – vocals (tracks 6 and 7), kick and snare (track 6)' from Wiki).
