Daft Punk & Nile Rodgers brings disco heaven..

For all you young ones who think Pharell is the main guest on the new Daft Punk and may never have heard of Nile Rodgers google him and appreciate.

Daft Punk bandwagon starter:

1. Around The World

2. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

3. One More Time

4. Digital Love

5. Da Funk

6. Technologic

7. Aerodynamic

These are the only Daft Punk songs i've heard to date, i'll listen to the new one later.

Don, you are missing their most iconic track..

'Da Funk'

Also listen to 'Something About You' if you want your heart to melt.

Absolutely love 'Get Lucky'!

So infectious. I'm not a big fan of them either.

I put it at #5

Haha - sorry

OK add Robot ROck and Voyager to that list too ;-)

I hope Daft Punk are top 10 and Passenger top 40 on sunday! :yahoo:

I haven't heard those songs though, i only put songs that i've heard before on the list.

This year is turning out to be the most unpredictable year for the UK charts. What will next week bring i wonder? Lethal Bizzle at #1?

...oh, wow. When I scrolled down this page I assumed everyone was talking about the albums chart, then I saw them at #1!! :o

Then I had a listen and it's basically just a bland Pharrell Williams song. :( So disappointed, I was hoping for another One More Time or even Technologic. If this makes the official #1 it'll be another example of an act having their biggest hit with their worst song...

Pretty much agree with this. They have some amazing songs in their back-catalogue, but on first few listens this new one sounds very bland. Maybe/hopefully it's a grower.

"Robot Rock" sounds far better when mashed up with "Without Me". The only mashup I've heard that improves upon BOTH originals.

(I'm sure I've linked to this before)

"Get Lucky" is very good though. 2013 should at least deliver them a first #1 album, if not a #1 single.

The immediate success of the new Daft Punk song is amazing - to think, if they'd released on Sunday they could have been number 1 ahead of Rudimental!

I feel like I wouldn't find Daft Punk being suddenly #1 so surprising if I actually even knew they had a single out... They do seem to have massive hype right now. So glad to have them back though, they have so many great songs

They won't get the official #1 as Friday releases never do but they should be at least top 5 this week based on how quickly they got #1 and how big a lead they have already (Rudimental 0.72)! They MIGHT get #1 next week but these sort of releases always seem to disappoint in their first full week.

Passenger  to #28, really climbing rather fast! Could see this having a Gotye/PSY/Macklemore-esque rise to the top 3/#1.

Vampire Weekend  #86, hope they can get official top 100 next week. Same for Frank Turner's 'Recovery' to #91, quite surprised at how well that's doing, must be getting big support from R1.

Loving the OA/OS releases in 2013 seems only really pop acts are ignoring it as their life cycle depend on top 10 hits rather than quality musical output lol. Hope Vampire Weekend , Passenger and Frank Turner become big hits in the coming weeks!!
With all the surprise new releases this week/ big entries this week we should get a big clear out of some older songs come Sunday :)

Daft Punk was getting played on Capital FM last night!

I know! I almost collapsed due to enjoyment when I heard it.

Oh lord at Daft Punk. This feels completely out of nowhere. Probably because I don't really get them (based on listening to 'One More Time' and 'HBFS' and thinking.. 'this is it? this is what dance fans rave about all the time?' *gets executed for blasphemy*), but good on them for getting something now. I'll keep an open mind when I do listen to this new one.

WHAT

But Daft Punk are the best dance act EVER.
