I was just thinking that 'Need U (100%)', 'Waiting All Night' and 'Get Lucky' are 3 absolute tunes and are all songs of the year for me, and it is very rare for such GOOD songs to be #1 in a row. I was just wondering if anyone can think of other examples of having 3 or more brilliant #1's in a row? It is certainly very rare these days.

1991

"Sadness (Part I)" - Enigma

"Innuendo" - Queen

"3 a.m. Eternal" - The KLF

There are lots of good chains but only one instance where three songs that I'd regard as 10/10 songs have topped the charts back to back and that was in 2006:

Nelly Furtado - Maneater

Shakira feat Wyclef Jean - Hips Don't Lie

Lilly Allen - Smile

Shakira featuring Wyclef Jean "Hips Don't Lie"

Beyoncé featuring Jay-Z "Déjà Vu"

Justin Timberlake "SexyBack"

Scissor Sisters "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'"

Razorlight "America"

My Chemical Romance "Welcome to the Black Parade"

Not a bad run of 6 #1s and quite different songs too!

The end of 2008 and beginning of 2009 was brilliant for #1s in my opinion! ^_^

Was there a song at #1 between "Mirrors" and "Need U (100%)" because if there weren't that would be a very good run of decent #1 singles. A run of UK #1 singles that I've charted exceeding 2 is very rare indeed.

All have gone Top 20 on my chart, with Daft Punk getting the highest (so far..) with a #9 hit.

Turns out the Saturdays got #1 between "Mirrors" and "Need U (100%)" - typical, a steaming TURD of a song in a run of actually quite decent #1 hits. URGH.

Anyway 1990 is good:

641 Sinead O'Connor Nothing Compares 2 U (4 weeks)

642 Beats International featuring Lindy Layton Dub Be Good To Me (4 weeks)

643 Snap The Power (2 weeks)

644 Madonna Vogue (4 weeks)

645 Adamski Killer (4 weeks)

646 Englandneworder World In Motion (2 weeks)

Oh yeah, I'm including "World In Motion". John Barnes rap - hell YES.

My record : only 3 good # 1 singles in row.

With the Gabrielle Aplin, Justice Collective and James Arthur dirges? The most derivative run of number ones at least.
