Posted April 29, 201312 yr Love Profusion ● (2003) ● 'American Life' http://i42.tinypic.com/a8i81.jpg To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Madonna's ninth studio album American Life, Song of the Week brings you the four official singles from that era... Background Album track number four and single number four, 'Love Profusion' was written and produced by both Madonna and Mirwais Ahmadzaï and continues the American culture views - speaking about the confusion of it all - but was much more subtle and was also dedicated to then husband, Guy Ritchie. It received much better reviews than 'American Life' and 'Hollywood', being praised for its "layers of dance beats and acoustic guitar", although some thought that "it isn't terribly different from the strings 'n' things orchestration of "Easy Ride" or her modified Southern rock of "Nothing Fails." Chart-wise, 'Love Profusion' was successful in few countries - reaching #1 in Spain and the Top 5 in Canada and Italy - but was a very minor hit elsewhere and missed out on Billboard 100. In the UK, 'Love Profusion' followed the underwhelming sales of previous two singles with 41,000 copies as of August 2008, making it Madonna's lowest selling single (in terms of Top 40 singles, it is now second to bottom, ahead of 2008's 'Miles Away' which peaked at #39). Madonna has never performed 'Love Profusion' on tour, but the Headcleanr Mix was initially included on the Re-invention Tour. This version also appeared on Madonna's Remixed & Revisited album. Opinion Another one of my favourites on the album, although I often forget about it which I suspect is the same for most people. I love that "fluffy" pop sound and the video makes it feel "lighter" and summery. Speaking of which, I quite like the video despite how simple it is - I actually quite like her dress too which I think has had some negative opinions on. It's a shame it has never been performed live as I'm sure Madonna's vocals would impress again. April 29, 201312 yr I do like it, far from her best though. I bought the single but that was mainly for a remix of 'Nobody Knows Me'.
April 30, 201312 yr It probably not really remembered by everyone because its never really been promoted at all. Madonna was too focused on her kids books than the American Life album. It's a shame because its agood song.
April 30, 201312 yr SOUND THE VILE ALARM Truly one of the most abominable songs by any of my favourite artists, not just Madonna. A disgusting, saccharine TURD which fortunately proved very easy to flush from the charts.
April 30, 201312 yr I really like the video for this single, i didnt even known it had been released at the time, was in HMV and saw it on sale!!!!
