Midweek Charts: Rudimental Home in on No.1

Source: MW

Rudimental's first album Home will debut at No 1 in the UK this Sunday as Daft Punk continue to rule the singles chart.

Housing their hits Feel The Love, Not Giving In and Waiting All Night, Rudimental's introductory Asylum/Atlantic set is currently outselling the rest of the top five artist album sellers combined, according to the Official Charts Company.

Daft Punk are commanding a similar, seemingly unassailable lead in the singles market with the Columbia-issued Get Lucky featuring Pharrell Williams having already sold more than 70,000 copies this week, twice as many as closest rival Waiting All Night on which Rudimental are joined by Ella Eyre.

Also looking to place a debut album instantly in the Top 10 is Bo Bruce, who was runner-up on the first series of BBC One's The Voice and whose Mercury set Before I Sleep presently shows up as a new entry at 6 on the midweeks. The series winner Leanne Mitchell has yet to have an album out.

Boy band Blue have their first studio album out this week since 2003's Guilty. Issued on their own Blueworld label it is new at 7 in the latest Sales Flashes, while their first three albums - All Rise, One Love and Guilty - all topped the chart.

Absent almost as long in terms of studio albums, rock veterans Deep Purple are back in the market via Ear Music/Edel with Now What, their first set of new material since 2005's Rapture Of The Deep and it is currently new at 11.

Around 100 sales ahead of Deep Purple, Nettwerk act Passenger, the project of Brighton artist Mike Rosenberg, experience a 273% sales lift with the album All The Little Lights to lift it 25-10. Its increased demands comes off the back of the growing popularity for the single Let Her Go, which climbs 11-4 on the singles midweeks with weekly sales rising 251%.

After last Sunday achieving a record-breaking 63 consecutive weeks in the Top 10, beating the 49-year record of The Beatles' Please Please Me for the longest uninterrupted Top 10 run, Virhgin act Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events has now managed to increase its sales week-on-week. A 7% improvement moves it 5-3 on the midweeks, while ahead of it Reprise/Warner Bros's Michael Buble drops to 2 having secured a second week at No 1 last weekend with To Be Loved.

RCA act Pink holds at 4 with The Truth About Love with sales up 16%, helped by tour dates in Birmingham and London this past week, while will.i.am's Interscope/Polydor album Willpower drops 3-5 with sales down 33%. Making an even bigger decline is Frank Turner's Xtra Mile/Polydor release Tape Deck Heart, which debuted at 2 last weekend but sinks to 16 in the midweeks.

Atlantic act Bruno Mars enjoys a 34% sales bounce with Unorthodox Jukebox, while Justin Timberlake's RCA album The 20/20 Experience eases 6-9 with sales down 1% in the week so far.

Outside the Top 10, new albums looking to enter in or around the Top 40 this Sunday will include releases from Fiction/Polydor's Seasick Steve, Cooking Vinyl's Pigeon Detectives, Lex-signed Neon Neon and Eagles with a Rhino compilation.

Besides Passenger's Let Her Go, two other tracks look like moving into the Top 10 of the singles chart this Sunday. They include Goo Goo Dolls' 1998 Warner Bros track Iris, which finally made the UK for the first time in 2011 after X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza covered it. Now it is subject to a similar revival, rising 39-7 in the midweeks after Britain's Got Talent hopeful Robbie Kennedy performed it on last Saturday's ITV1 show.

Also making a big leap into the midweek Top 10 is Parlophone act David Guetta whose Play Hard with Ne-Yo and Akon rises 21-8 with weekly sales up 611%.

Island/PMR's Disclosure are seeking out their second Top 10 single following White Noise with AlunaGeorge with You & Me featuring Eliza Doolittle new at 10 at this stage of the week.

Demand is contunuing to heavily increase for the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis track Can't Hold Us featuring Ray Dalton. Issued on the Macklemore label, it sees its sales increase 58% on the week to lift it 5-3.

Completing the singles Top 10 presently, Columbia act Calvin Harris's I Need Your Love featuring Ellie Goulding drps 4-5 and will.i.am's Interscope/Polydor single Thatpower with Justin Bieber is down 3-6.

Sunday Best single Rise & Fall by Michael Molloy and Alex Evans turns up as a new enry at 26 on the midweeks, while Relentless/RCA act Misha B's Here's To Everything (Oooh La La) is new at 31.

Midweek Charts update: Nettwerk heading for first ever Top 10 album

Source: MW

by Paul Williams

The Nettwerk label is heading for its first ever UK Top 10 album and biggest single since 2000 thanks to Brighton singer-songwriter Passenger.

The alias of Mike Rosenburg, the act has climbed 11-4 in the midweek singles chart with Let Her Go, while All the Lights has risen 25-10 on artist albums, according to the Official Charts Company.

The first and only time previously Nettwerk made the Top 10 of the singles chart was back in 2000 with the Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan hit Silence, which reached No 3. It has never made the albums Top 10, but that is likely to change on Sunday with Passenger. Sales of his album are up 178% on the week, while the single has lifted 161%.

The UK success of the single and album follows Let Her Go having already topped the sales charts in a number of countries, including Australia, Austria, Denmark, Germany and Sweden. The album has also been a big international hit, including peaking at 2 in Australia and 6 in Germany.

Ahead of Passenger in the singles market, Daft Punk have shifted another 100,000 copies of their Columbia debut Get Lucky featuring Pharrell Williams so far this week. It climbed to No 1 last Sunday on the back of 155,215 sales, while it is more than matching that figure this week with a further 112,229 copies sold with two days of trading still to go. That has pushed its cumulaive UK sales above 300,000 to put it on the verge of being among the Top 10 sellers of the year.

Asylum/Atlantic's Rudimental are storming to No 1 on albums this week with debut release Home having already sold nearly 50,000 copies, while Waiting All Night featuring Ella Eyre holds at 2 on singles. The Macklemore & Ryan Lewis single Can't Hold Us on the Macklemore label and featuring Ray Dalton is up 5-3 with weekly sales rising 38%.

Heading for its 64th consecutive week in the artist albums Top 10, Virgin act Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events climbs 5-3 in the week so far to sit directly below Reprise/Warner Bros act Michael Buble with To Be Loved (1-2), while Pink's RCA album The Truth About Love holds at 4 and will.i.am's Interscope/Polydor set Willpower drops 3-5. Brand new to the Top 10 at this point in the week are albums from Mercury's Bo Bruce (Before I Sleep) and Blue (Routelette) on their own Blueworld label.

I actually believe Rudimental could be the no1 album this week it's downloads will be Brillant could do 40k or so?!

Rudimental could knock Buble off but i would not rule out a third week for Buble. I think Blue will surprise and make the top 20 at a low but could show up in the top 10 albums as its holding well on downloads.

Daft Punk will very easily hold number 1 in the singles.

No1 single last week, and no1 album this week. They dont really know much about the charts though and any lead they have they may assume it will stay there but you never know could be miles ahead. Got the album myself and its brillant!!

Thanks to everyone who's bought Rise & Fall ...incredibly it's just outside the top 20 in the midweeks with no national radio play..respect!

Michael Molloy and Alex Evans - "Rise & Fall"

Can anyone explain why this track isn't getting national airplay when there's clearly a demand for it? I'm so confused. Rob Da Bank has released it on his label and still can't manage to pull any strings concerning having it played on Radio 1

Because Radio 1 wouldn't be seen dead playing a charity song that isn't "cool". It's such a sad and unjust situation. :( -_-

Because Radio 1 wouldn't be seen dead playing a charity song that isn't "cool". It's such a sad situation. :(

It's absolutely pathetic. I could see it sitting quite comfortably in the Top 40 had it been released by a signed and recognised artist. Jesus wept, if Grimmy or Zane Lowe had have given it the thumbs up, it'd easily be top 10. The song is spectacular regardless of whether it's a posthumous release by an unsigned artist.

Surely it's precisely *because* it's on Sunday Best that RdB can't be seen to pull any strings in its favour?

Totally missed the story of the Michael Molloy song whats it about?

Michael died in the coach that crashed whilst returning from Bestival to Liverpool, on the A3 in Surrey on Septemver 10th last year. Mike was an incredibly talented musician and recorded Rise and Fall and Hope You Know with his friend Alex Evans (vocals) a few months before he died. Rob Da Bank has been so good to the victims family and friends, releasing Michael's music on his Sunday Best label and organising a massive benefit night for us in Liverpool.

All this being said, regardless of the situation of the track (ie I didn't know Mike, lost a friend to the crash though and loads of friends injured) , I genuinely believe it is outstanding considering it was written and performed by an 18 year old, with Hope You Know being written when he was 13.
