There was definately a cold and distant vibe watching those performances. I think there must have been some sort of row or argument backstage, because it's very out of character for the girls to look so pissed off.

FVanessa was having serious problems with her voice, that is the worst I have ever heard her condition to date, whatever that may be. She was seriously straining her voice to hit all the notes that she hasn't done for a very long time now. Something has changed overnight because from what I've seen on YouTube yesterdays show at Western Park was their typical show and Vanessa wasn't forcing out anything she didn't have to..

 

Today was a completely different situation, they all looked like they didn't want to be there. I hate to say it but they actually all looked really pissed off, whether it was with each other I don't know but watching it didn't feel right at all.

On the other hand the choreography was good, and the vocals (apart from poor Ness) were good too.

 

I have to disagree about Vanessas vocals there. Her voice for once didn't sound coarse and scratchy even though she was straining, it's quite evident that her voice has gotten significantly lower and settling more into a mezzo/alto range. It was hwoever clear and quite strong in sound (Ego, Issues *she tried lol* Notorious in paritcular, Higher was fantastic). Although in Ego for example, there happened to be some sort of backing track playing along slightly out of time and maybe that's what made her voice sound worse but when you actually listen her intonation and pitching as well as overall tone is a lot cleaner than it was during the Notorious promo. I think their in ears weren't working and I completely agree on the pissed off vibe. Especially Rochelle, you could tell she wasn't happy in particular. V Festival always has pathetic technical equipment for singing groups. Even in 2009 their performances were shockingly bad

After watching the Ego performance again especially towards the end it did look quite tense. Rochelle & Vanessa at what one side and Mollie,Frankie,Una at other with a large gap in the middle. The girls never really interacted with each other as much as they usually do and they better not having backing vocals for the arena tour, shocking.

 

However arguments do happen and are always expected to happen especially with 5 girls.

And to add on to my point about Vanessa's voice! She actually BELTED the majority of the Forever Is Over chorus :o! Which NEVER happens haha. I think people need to cut her some slack

All Fired Up has less promotion than Notorious, It's quite disappointing when you look at how much Higher & Missing You were promoted.

are the first two that come into my head, I am sure there is loads more that get missed out.

I just couldn't imagine the girls arguing. I know they can't be happy and friendly all the time, but I just genuinely could never in a million years imagine Mollie, Frankie or Una being angry.

 

Anyways, we could be looking into it far too much. Maybe they had a disagreement with someone from their label/their manager, or someone backstage at the festival, or were just exhausted or something?

I'm watching them right now on V being interviewed and stuff when they arrived and they seem completely normal and have their usual happy connected persona. Perhaps if something did happen it was JUST before they went on stage. I still think Rochelle is the one who had something to piss her off though.

Watching the I Need Dollar/ Buzzin' performance on C4, for the first verse, Rochelle is actualy a whole person gap away from the rest of the band. I am not sure why, when the others were all really close together...

I agree, it's very tiresome coming into threads like these where fans nit-pick things up from nowhere. I for one could not sense a tense atmosphere.

I'm sorry but she sounded terrible. She may have tried to belt out Forever Is Over but at what cost? Every time she tries to do something like that she gets worse at it every time. You can't deny that. Her lower ranges are fine, but everything in her head voice and beyond are just awful. She really has messed her voice up. She was straining her voice and cracking up. It's not meant to sound like that at all.

 

I'll cut her slack for trying yes, but in future she shouldn't. Afterall this is the reason why her voice has deteriated.

I think it's obvious that smoking etc has helped effect Vanessa's voice what is a shame... Her big note at Forever Is Over at V Festival was horrendous.
