Posted May 11, 201312 yr Kylie Minogue has 'Can't Get You Out of My Head', Britney Spears has '...Baby One More Time'/'Toxic', Celine Dion has 'My Heart Will Go On', but for Madonna, there isn't a straight forward response to what her signature song is. There's been many discussions on Buzzjack but the question has never been answered, so I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread here. For me there's 5 stand outs, with several more which I also consider iconic enough to be considered signatures songs too, just a little less so than my first 5 choices. 'Like a Virgin' and 'Vogue' are two which I hear people at my school giving reference to or singing along to and are big highlights in Madonna's musical career: 'Like a Virgin' was her worldwide breakthrough hit and 'Vogue' was one of the biggest club anthems and captured a major dance craze. Many times have I seen 'Like a Prayer' listed on "best number one" lists and was the first majorly controversial Madonna song - and is the biggest in some respects. 'Frozen' was the lead single and one of the most praised tracks from Madonna's most well-received album Ray of Light and the fact it sold just shy of 200k in its first week in the UK must account for something. Finally, 'Hung Up' has, I believe, the most worldwide chart success for a Madonna single, being number one in something like 40 countries and about 10 million copies sold. My Opinion Main Like a Virgin Like a Prayer Vogue Frozen Hung Up Other Holiday Material Girl Into the Groove Papa Don't Preach La Isla Bonita Ray of Light Music 4 Minutes I guess if I REALLY needed to decide just one, it would probably be 'Like a Prayer' - it had lots of chart success and had hype and controversy to go with it. If this thread grabs enough attention, I'll make a poll with say the most popular 5 choices which we can vote for Madonna's #1 signature hit.

May 11, 201312 yr Like a Prayer is her most signature hit, but Hung Up and particularly Vogue, Material Girl and Like a Virgin have had a greater cultural impact than most signature hits you could ever care to name by other artists. So those would be her five. After that, Holiday, Ray of Light, Into the Groove, Music and La Isla Bonita. I would contest Frozen, I don't think it's quite a part of popular culture in the way those ten songs are.

June 2, 201312 yr I immediately thought of Like a Prayer when I read the title. I don't just think it's her signature hit, but the best song she's ever released. Others: Like a Virgin Frozen Music Hung Up I wish Deeper and Deeper / Human Nature were among her signature hits. They should have been bigger.
