I don't want to wait until next October for Series 8. April 2014 sounds better.

Moffat prefers the episodes to air in the dark, cold autumn/winter nights so that there really is a chilling atmosphere. I suppose fans will be eager for more after the 50th, but at the same time, after writing something so big, Moffat will be wanting a break (even though he's diving straight into the Christmas 2013 episode).

I have just had a thought...

Given the recent information that has come to light about The Name of the Doctor, aka

Clara entering the Doctor's tomb in the TARDIS to try and save him, but failing - and thus as a result, she dies time and time again

.

WHAT IF...

Now, we have seen in the trailer for The Name of the Doctor that the TARDIS 'explodes' in some way, or opens up like we have never seen it do so before. What if this TARDIS exploding relates back to the previous TARDIS explosion in The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang? The cracks in time were obviously caused by the TARDIS exploding in series 5. Now, Rory was absorbed by a crack in time in Cold Blood - and from then onwards died, and died, and died, and died. Even on his name badge in The Eleventh Hour, it stated that it was issued in 1996, when he would only have been a few years old. What if Clara and Rory are connected in one way, that they both entered a splinter in time, and as a result both kept dying and dying?

Moffat should stop thinking about the episodes' ~atmosphere~ and focus on writing proper plots again.

Well, River looks like she's having the time of her life.
BBC America have revealed four more images from the episode. They're rather spoilery, though! Three of Clara, and one of a long lost planet.

Special cover of the Radio Times this week:

Will be buying that to add to the collection. ^_^

I just hope the BBC put it back at a full 13 episode season over consecutive weeks. I'm bored of this split season thing already.

There is a new BBC1 13 part drama series set for the autumn to fill the Merlin gap later this year, Atlantis, I should imagine Dr Who will neither have 2 short runs or a cut down on episodes, unless Atlantis gets shelved after 1 series. But I have to agree with you I do prefer a full 13 episode season, if Matt Smith wants to try other things, I should imagine it be stripped back to 6 to 8 episodes I don't think he will commit to 13 episodes.

Well rumours at the moment seem to be suggesting that Jenna-Louise Coleman is signed for the full Series 8 run, whilst Matt will only appear in a few of the episodes. That seems to suggest that it will probably follow the same pattern as Series 6, or Series 7, having one half air in Spring or Autumn, with a gap until Autumn or the Christmas Special, and then resuming in Autumn or Easter.

Its a bit of a mess really, they should do 1 hour episodes with 6 or 8 episodes run per season, that gives more time for Matt Smith to do other things. I guess we know more after the Xmas special. I can see Steven Moffat leaving after Season 8.

Well, all of the cast are on a three-month break just now. Matt Smith is filming 'How to Catch a Monster', while Jenna-Louise Coleman has been offered many scripts, but has said she hasn't fallen in love with any of them yet. I agree with you, though - the episodes should not always be constrained to 45 minutes, an hour or even 65 minutes would be more appropriate to allow story and character development.

I don't think Moffat will leave after series 8, though - I think we could still be seeing him as head writer by series 10 (if the show gets that far).

Oh poor River, she looks like she's been forced to return against her will :(

Ha! It really does look as though she's walked in, had her photo taken and walked out again, all in 5 minutes.

Bought the issue of The Radio Times, so it's now in with all the other covers!

I kind of get the feeling this could be the last time we see River. The way she's dressed, posed and the way she speaks in the trailer - combined with

her grave

appearing in the preview at the end of last week's episode makes me think we'll see River, but perhaps as a

memory/hologram/ghost type thing.

(might be a bit over the top with the spoiler tags there, as it's all speculation, but thought I'd be careful)

It has been confirmed that the version of River that we meet in The Name of the Doctor is

post-Library, so she is dead

. But I think this could possibly be

the moment that both her and the Doctor's timelines cross, where they both meet in order. River meets her death, whilst the Doctor discovers her gravestone.

I do HOPE this isn't the last we see of her, I'm infinitely more excited to have her back now that she's had a little break.
I personally think Series 3 had a lot of great episodes: Gridlock, 42, Blink and the final 3 episodes were really good, despite the reset at the end (which doesn't look as bad anymore compared to some of the latest Series 7 episodes). I really really like Martha too, even if I'm alone on that.

You're not alone, Martha was a good character, unrequited love and all that, I can empathise.....

I was (very) grown-up when series 1 started, and I have loved the whole 7 series throughout, though it peaked for me in series 4 after getting better each season up to then, and there's been a gentle decline since then each season. I'd need to rewatch S7 to re-assess it properly though...

More promotional images from the episode (EEK! Really excited for this now! :D):

I'm starting to think this is gonna be a really emotional episode (in terms of Clara, Vastra/Strax/Jenny, River, etc).

Oh dear that dinner table scene makes me think

Vastra/Jenny/Strax DIE, though it could just be within one of the many different timelines and stuff and for EFFECT
