LIVE REVIEW: Robbie Williams - Wembley StadiumWe will ALWAYS let Robbie entertain us!

http://i43.tinypic.com/2i8gjub.jpg

Robbie Williams, here in May, is playing four nights at Wembley Stadium (WENN)

Robbie Williams is undoubtedly the ultimate British pop star so it’s no surprise that he has managed to sell out Wembley Stadium, not once, but FOUR times.

Having over 90,000 people in one place to see someone who has stood the test of time in the pop world proves the Robster will always have what it takes to wow an audience. The show opened with the classic ‘Let Me Entertain You’ as Robbie Williams descended over the crowd via a zip wire.

From the word go there was bags of energy and a huge amount of pyrotechnics, it did make us wonder how far it would go and if it could get better and obviously, it did! The running theme of the staging was Robbie himself. Never one to shy away from how fabulous he is as a huge gold face was the backdrop of the entire show.

There was also a silver head that released balloons along with one that blasted out fire. From the word go it was exciting and he was always trying to get as close to the crowd as possible, he wants to connect with his fans. It’s clear Robbie is a father now as when he brought a young lady onto the stage with him to sing ‘Everything Changes’ (sadly the only Take That song in the set) and ‘Strong,’ he was very aware of her and how terrified she was.

He was also wearing a neon pink necklace that read ‘Teddy’ as an adorable tribute to his daughter. His showbiz pal and support act Olly Murs made an appearance for ‘Kids’ and you can tell they are from the same breed of superstar.

Cheeky, fun and born performers the boys gyrated and flirted with the crowd all the way through the song. Robbie has a way of making many of his songs anthemic with a big crowd, ballad types like ‘Come Undone’ and ‘Feel’ provoke an emotional sing a long whereas upbeat, fun songs such as ‘Candy’ and ‘Rock DJ’ just make the audience dance and shout like nutters!

The surprise of the show? The welcomed return of the controversial ‘Rudebox.’ Not one of his best and most acceptable songs from over the years but seeing Robbie rap just echoes the idea that he is the ultimate showman who can make anything work.

As cheesy as it sounds, hearing ‘Angels’ in a stadium full of people is a really unique experience. He wanted everyone to think of someone they may be missing or someone who isn’t with them any longer so there was emotion in the air.

Everyone with arms around their loved ones singing their hearts out to one of Britain’s most loved ballads really was a special moment.

As a music fan it’s hard to fault Robbie Williams in anyway. He may not have hugely strong vocals but he’s good at what he does and takes charge of the whole show. He is an asset to British pop music and his ability to put on a phenomenal show should never be underestimated. Everything changes but Robbie Williams and we will always let him entertain us!

Why did they build that stadium alongside that football pitch rather than over it? Did they get the plans wrong? People watching the football won't see a thing for the stadium walls :( People on the Official Site will be complaining about restricted views....

;)

I'm going to see Robbie in a 4 days and I have like 10% of excitement. :( Almost everything I saw from this tour I don't like... I hate those shipped songs, dammit, sing a song properly. Sexed Up, which could be such a nice surprise is turned into a joke, Better Man is singed all over the place, just not as it's supposed to be... Not to mention stupid songs he sings. Everything he wears looks ridiculous, except on the part when he sings Feel and the end. Also, I can't believe you're stick to one clothes combination for the whole tour. The main problem is that his concert now looks like a Take That concert and to be honest, I never really listened to them to want to see them live. Maybe I'd be okay with this whole situation if I'm 16. No, I'd be happy with it in that case...

Oh, and I hate that I seem ungrateful, since I had to do a lot of things to make possible to even attend that concert. Bright side of the whole story - at the end, I actually WILL fulfill my teenage dream which I had for more than 10 years, so that must count, right?

AW Poor Nada, you will have a lovely time if you allow yourself to

The Robbie that is not the same Robbie that was there twenty years ago & i do not expect him to be , he is nearly forty for one thing so tearing around the stage must be more difficult .I know what you mean about the songs but I am sure you will enjoy it anyway , he is still a massive performer , one the the best, who else can interact with an audience the way he does right through his shows, I thought the time just flew by in Wembley & that is always a good sign, I left wanting more ' , His voice I thought sounded great , how it will be by the end of the tour is another thing but I think he is pacing himself, I definitely would go to see him again . I would have liked a different set list for the tour , something like he did for the arenas last year but maybe there is a reason they picked those songs, I hate that in Sin Sin, always did , I was not keen on the props, I do not know why he decided to use them , he does not need them & that is a compliment to the guy as far as I am concerned .

Have a good time Nada

:cheer:

Thanks for truing to make me feel better. :D And I will try my best to not over-think, so that I can enjoy properly... Maybe if I would be close enough it could all be better!  I have standing tickets and there's no fan pit, so I should practice running...

Ask Jups..... she didn't get excited about seeing Robbie until half an hour before he came on stage  but really enjoyed the concert.

I'm sure you will too Nada, Robbie is a brilliant entertainer, keep an open mind. Oh and stop watching youtube clips etc, don't want to spoil it for yourself.

Let's hope that's the way it's going to be for me also. :D

Oh, but I actually just watched videos from first concert of the tour and yesterday I accidentally run on that acoustic mix on tumblr, so I watched it. Shouldn't do that.

But, also, he as an artist need to make sure every performance is different in a greatest way possible. You can't make the same joke every night. You can't act the same every night. I don't mind the fact that I know balloons are coming up while he is singing Not Like The Others, but I do mind that he is the same every night. Maybe I got that impression because I really don't listen to pop music anymore and those artist I follow are actually that interesting live, but I also think Robbie used to be like that.

I think you are overthinking it Nada, Robbie will be different when he tours the next album Nada because that kind of music is totally different, for now the shows are what they are but I still think he is the best out there . He might make the same joke every night but he has a different audience every night unless you are like us where we follow what he is doing on his website etc, the only way that you can really make it exciting & new is by not following him on the www & I ean that in the nicest possible way if you follow what I mean, that way it's all fresh & new.

Awwww Nada. You have lost your Robbie love :(

I actually agree with much of what you say though. Robbie is more of a 'performer' these days. Less of a 'rock/pop singer'. And I too lament this transformation. But I still really enjoyed the concert. You never know, maybe you will as well. If not, it's something to tick off your 'To do' list and you need never see his gold lame jacket again. Ever. :P

Oh and you should have done what I did. Avoided all tour videos and all tour reports. Then you wouldn't have had a clue what the jokes were going to be....

London (IANS) Singer-songwriter Robbie Williams reveals he takes as long as five hours to get ready for a show as he prepares himself both mentally and physically before he steps on the stage.

The Candy hitmaker, who is currently on his ‘Take the Crown Stadium’ Tour, also feels he’s ‘not that beautiful’. That is why he takes a lot of time preparing himself before performing.

‘I have a massage, that’s an hour and a half. Then I have a shower, shave, make-up. In the flesh I’m not that beautiful, so we need make-up,’ femalefirst.co.uk quoted Williams as saying.

‘Then I’ll have my hair done, then stretching, it’s a five- hour thing,’ he said.

(much like myself then... <_< )

Nah, I still love him, at least the latest album. Loved O2 concert also, just now something is missing... I didn't watch that many videos, just a few... And you're right about 'to do' list... Also, about that jacket, it's the most lame thing ever.

Oh and for that five hours, hair had to be better, that's for sure.

'Fee' will always sell out stadiums. AND these last tickets will make more 'fee' for the black market as well.

I can imagine quite a few singers/ acts who could call their next album 'Fee' ! :teresa:

I will see Robbie on 31 July, so I will have to wait until then to join this conversation. I really hopes he does some 'singing' though.

BTW does anyone remember the estimated time when Robbie shows up? I'll be there much earlier and I hope I won't drop dead under the sun <_< .
