As generic and dated as this is, it's become stuck in my head after a few listens! It's quite infectiously catchy, but the long note somewhere near the end was dreadful!

see, why discredit opinions that are at odds with your own by suggesting people are on a bandwagon? nobody's suggesting you're an easily-pleased fan boy who would like any old song she'd fart out are they? if people don't like something they're going to say unless you believe this has become a site of "followers" and "leaders"?

 

i am not a massive chart music fan and hold general indifference to most chart music but there are occasional releases that really lower the bar and give 'pop' a bad name. pop music has come a long way over these past few years. experimentation with sound and image; you look at little mix, neon jungle or even emerging faces like little nikki. then you contrast it to the launch of this era. pixie/pixie's A&R have decided to take a christina demo, record it in identikit form (ad libs and all) which belongs sonically back in 2009, shoot a video with a greater likeness to an itv2 advert, her voice sounds painful in parts on the record and the whole package smacks of wanting to emulate a christina of bygone years and coming up massively short. it's such a lazy, trite package and it's ultimately insulting that her label think spending zero dollar and expecting the world to get on board. it's not cool.

 

where is the artist licence, integrity or vision? what is pixie lott supposed to stand for as an artist? she seems more at home talking about her model boyfriend in the cheap gossip mags as opposed to bringing anything of worth to the pop plate. i know she's not the only one (rita and jessie fit in the triad of bland, identikit major label fem-pop) but with this release she's really scraping the barrel lower than anyone to date.

All you're doing is creating an antagonistic fanbase culture which has hitherto not existed in threads within the pop and genre forums. The difference is that negative opinions can be accepted - comments saying " it looks like she's been savaged by a cheese grater " and " stick a fork in it" offers nothing to the discussion of the single /topic.

I'm hardly discrediting the opinions? I'm saying the majority off the comments provided to her on here are rather harsh (the majority of it has nothing to do with her singing). As I said she's an incredibly inoffensive singer. :lol:

She/her label could have bought a non-reject song (What Do You Take Me For is AMAZING, why not work with Rusko again?!) but they chose to cop out and make $$$ off some crap based on Pixie's name alone. Like Jake said, and I agree completely, it's treating fans and people like some stupid mob that would buy literally everything their label produces.

 

I always disliked her songs but that's because I never really knew what place she is supposed to occupy in the music industry and I never thought she could actually last for as long as she did. I still have no idea what kind of pop star she is supposed to be. And trying to mimick Xtina doesn't help the cause.

 

That's what annoys me the most about the song, the fact that she is just singing it EXACTLY like Christina probably did in the original song. Where's the originality and individuality? It's exactly what annoys me about Ghetto Baby and Little Things as they are both sung and produced in the exact same style as the original writers (Lana and Ed Sheeran).
