June 18, 201312 yr Author 61: "I Know Who I Am" (5.143) From 'For Colored Girls' OST Highest rate: 7 (Jonjo, Envoirment & Adam92) Lowest rate: -1 (Leonardo) 60: (5.579) From 'Spirit' Highest rate: 8 (THEO. & Leonardo) Lowest rate: 1 (SceneofSIXCrimes) 59: "Favourite Scar" (6.029) From 'Glassheart' Highest rate: 9 (Envoirment) Lowest rate: 1 (Karma) 58: (6.050) B-Side to "Forgive Me Highest rate: 8 (Jonjo) Lowest rate: 3 (THEO.) 57: (6.472) From 'Echo' Highest rate: 10 (SceneofSIXCrimes) Lowest rate: 3 (J▼hnkm) 56: (6.553) UK #185 From 'Spirit' Highest rate: 9 (Jonjo & JosephVickers) Lowest rate: -1 (*Tim) Kicking off the results is "I Know Who I Am", a fairly pedestrian (by Leona's standards) song taken from the soundtrack of the film For Colored Girls. Following it is two songs from Leona's first album, Spirit, both of which aren't deserving of placing so low. "Favourite Scar" is the lowest-placing song from Leona's latest album, and again is undeserving of finishing last from that album. "Don't Let Me Down" is the first representative of Echo. Co-written by and featuring backing vocals from Justin Timberlake, I'd expect it to place higher, but alas it isn't to be. Edited June 18, 201312 yr by THEO.
June 18, 201312 yr Nothing overly good lost there and especially glad to see the pretty awful Don't Let Me Down nice and low.
June 18, 201312 yr Author 55: (6.579) UK #98 From 'Spirit: The Deluxe Edition' Highest rate: 10 (Liam) Lowest rate: 3 (J▼hnkm) 54: (6.600) From 'Echo' (iTunes bonus track) Highest rate: 8 (J▼hnkm & Envoirment) Lowest rate: 5 (*Tim) 53: (6.727) IRE #39, UK #46 B-Side to "Bleeding Love" Highest rate: 8 (Mikeyjosh, Envoirment & Liam) Lowest rate: 5 (SceneofSIXCrimes & THEO.) 52: "Fingerprint" (6.824) From 'Glassheart' Highest rate: 10 (Jonjo, Adam92 & LeonaK) Lowest rate: -1 (*Tim) 51: (6.844) From 'Hurt: The EP' Highest rate: 9 (Mikeyjosh, Liam, THEO. & Karma) Lowest rate: 0 (Griff) Opening up the next section is "Misses Glass", a track added to the UK deluxe edition of Spirit, which marked a new mid-tempo style of Leona (also seen in "Forgive Me" from the same re-release; more on that later). It's not exactly remarkable, but it's a nice little number, and I'd like to hear more of Leona in this style. "Fly Here Now" was an iTunes-only pre-order track on Echo, and I can't say I know much else about it. Ask Johnkm! "Forgiveness" was the B-side to Leona's first post-X Factor single, and managed to chart at #46 on the single's release, causing debates into UK download chart rules (more on that with "Better in Time" and "Footprints in the Sand"). "Fingerprint" is another nice enough song from Leona's latest album, which has been performed multiple times on charity telethons and the like. "Iris" was one of three covers on Leona's 2011 Christmas release, Hurt: The EP, and it's by far my favourite cover of the song (which has been covered thousands of times before and since the release of this, so it was perhaps an unnecessary choice, despite me appreciating it). June 18, 201312 yr Shame Fly Here Now couldn't make it a bit higher, but it's pretty non-essential as much as I like it.
June 18, 201312 yr It's criminal that 'Don't Let Me Down' is so low. Bar 'Happy', it is the highlight of Echo.
June 19, 201312 yr Those are the 2 WORST songs on an otherwise amazing album. Just no. 'I Got You' is the dud on the album.
June 19, 201312 yr Granted, it is towards the bottom end of my ranking but it's actually got a strong melody and hook, which is more than can be said for those 2.
June 19, 201312 yr Author 50: "Shake You Up" (6.889) From 'Glassheart' Highest rate: 10 (Envoirment, Adam92 & THEO.) Lowest rate: 2 (Leonardo) 49: "Stop The Clocks" (7.088) From 'Glassheart' Highest rate: 9 (LeonaK & *Tim) Lowest rate: 5 (J▼hnkm & SceneofSIXCrimes) 48: (7.105) UK #180 From 'Spirit' Highest rate: 10 (Doug) Lowest rate: 4 (Silver Rocket & SceneofSIXCrimes) 47: (7.182) B-Side to "Better In Time" / "Footprints In The Sand" Highest rate: 10 (Envoirment) Lowest rate: 4 (SceneofSIXCrimes) 46: "When It Hurts" (7.206) From 'Glassheart' Highest rate: 10 (J▼hnkm & Karma) Lowest rate: 2 (SceneofSIXCrimes) At #50 is one of my personal highlights from Glassheart, the 90s-inspired uptempo pop song, "Shake You Up". Sonically, it's very different to anything Leona has released before (bar maybe "Outta My Head") so I'm disappointed to see it place so low here. "Stop the Clocks" is another Glassheart track, this time midtempo and breezy in sound, although it's incredibly similar to "I Got You", which isn't exactly Buzzjack's favourite Leona single. "When It Hurts" is yet another song from Leona's third album at #46 and it was one of two songs produced by Naughty Boy for the album. At #48 we flash all the way back to 2007, with another breezy R&B mid-tempo in "The Best You Never Had". "You Bring Me Down" was the B-side to Leona's only ever double A-side single and that's at #47. Edited June 19, 201312 yr by THEO.
June 19, 201312 yr Author 45: (7.214) With Biagio Antonacci Highest rate: 9 (Envoirment) Lowest rate: 6 (Jonjo & THEO.) 44: (7.250) From 'Sex And The City 2' OST Highest rate: 8 (Jonjo, JosephVickers, Adam92, LeonaK & Liam) Lowest rate: 6 (SceneofSIXCrimes, THEO. & Karma) 43: (7.289) UK #156 From 'Spirit' Highest rate: 10 (Karma & Leonardo) Lowest rate: 5 (Silver Rocket, Mikeyjosh, THEO. & *Tim) 42: (7.346) From 'Echo' Highest rate: 10 (J▼hnkm & Karma) Lowest rate: 5 (Mikeyjosh & Leonardo) =40: "Heartbeat" (7.375) B-Side to "I Got You" Highest rate: 9 (Jonjo, JosephVickers & Liam) Lowest rate: 5 (Leonardo) =40: (7.375) Hidden track from 'Echo' Highest rate: 11 (Mike Sugafan) Lowest rate: 4 (Silver Rocket) At #45 is a song in which Leona features, the rocky number "Inaspettata", which I assume means 'unexpected', and it was fairly unexpected to hear Leona in this style after I expected a classical number. I can't say it's a song I go back to. "Love Is Your Color" is a nice little song recorded by Leona and American Idol loser/Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, the latter of whom starred in the film Sex And The City 2 I think? I've not seen it. "Here I Am" is another Spirit-by-numbers song, whilst I know nothing about "You Don't Care". "Heartbeat" is actually very decent for a B-side (the best of Leona's 5), and that draws here with the rather nice "Stone Hearts & Hand Grenades", which was hidden at the end of Echo. June 19, 201312 yr 44: (7.250) With Jennifer Lopez From 'Sex And The City 2' OST Highest rate: 8 (Jonjo, JosephVickers, Adam92, LeonaK & Liam) Lowest rate: 6 (SceneofSIXCrimes, THEO. & Karma) I love JLO but she wish! I do not care for any of those songs though Edited June 19, 201312 yr by *Tim
June 20, 201312 yr Granted, it is towards the bottom end of my ranking but it's actually got a strong melody and hook, which is more than can be said for those 2. A strong melody and hook might make a good single, but it doesn't necessarily make a good song. 'Happy' has to be her best vocal performance in terms of emotion and authenticity while 'Don't Let Me Down' is also a truly great vocal with great lyrics. 'I Got You' is just a MOR Max Martin track. :P Poor 'Shake You Up' and 'Inaspettata'. :(
June 20, 201312 yr Author 39: (7.553) From 'Echo' Highest rate: 10 (Lukuzz, J▼hnkm & Mike Sugafan) Lowest rate: 4 (Leonardo) 38: (7.605) US #66, CAN #83 & UK #160 From 'Spirit' Highest rate: 10 (J▼hnkm & JosephVickers) Lowest rate: 4 (Silver Rocket) 37: (7.632) UK #173 From 'Spirit' Highest rate: 10 (Lukuzz, JosephVickers, Adam92 & Karma) Lowest rate: 5 (Silver Rocket & Leonardo) 36: "Love Letter" (7.639) From 'Echo' Highest rate: 10 (Doug & JosephVickers) Lowest rate: 4 (Silver Rocket) Sandwiching two tracks from Spirit are two tracks from Echo; the rather bland "Brave" and the nice country-inspired mid-tempo "Love Letter", the latter of which is one of my highlights from the album. At #38 is the first official (North America-only) single, "I Will Be", which despite seeming to have quite a bit of dollar pumped into the video (starring Chace Crawford), it limped into the Billboard Hot 11 at #66. "Homeless" is the other Spirit track to appear here, and it actually quite a bit different to the rest of its parent album. I'm still not overtly keen on it though, so its place here is deserving.
