I have been listening to channel Orange alongside this and the contrast is evident but I still cannot really formulate what I think about Blonde. This is all still too much to handle. I will post my review at least in a week. This shit ain't easy.

As for me, I love the interludes. Especially Facebook Story and Be Yourself. I class Solo Reprise as a standalone song~ but if it wasn't one, it would be my favorite.

I haven't bought the album yet but can someone tell me if there is something as good as 'Swim Good' in this album...that is my ultimate fave from 'Orange'!!

It's difficult to say, it really all depends on what you like Frank to do for you. In terms of being utterly fucking gorgeous 'Self Control' is up there with his finest moments of beauty.

bad news straight away.. Swim Good isn't from Channel Orange. :(

LOL never knew that...I always thought Orange was his debut :( I am such a flop fan.

Swim Good is from his mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra.

+ it's one of his absolute best, I agree

I'm not quite feeling this. :(

I like him but this is nowhere near Channel Orange for me, it's sort of all kinda pleasant but it could do with having a bit more variety for me.

As much as I stan for him and am so in love with his work I kind of agree there should have been one upbeat track on here along the lines of 'Lost' or 'Pyramids'. 'Nights' isn't quite enough unfortunately.

For anyone still living in the year 5000BC this has today hit Spotify.

Also reminded me to do my Frank Ocean discog rate!!!

for me, Nikes is up there with his best ones (Pyramids, Swim, Lost, Thinkin bout you, Black religion)

Nikes hasn't clicked with me yet as much as the other tracks have. Pink + White and Nights do good things to me though.

just realised that my main problem with Blonde is that it lacks hooks, choruses, melodies... it's a good album but it's too uncommercial for me

OC was a bit unorthodox but ultimately had some choruses and melodies (even Pyramids)... I miss some songs like Lost of Thinkin about You in the new album, it's really hard to appreciate when it's almost like an album of poems where the music seems to be less important than the words

Still loving:

Nikes

Ivy

Pink + White

Solo

Self Control

White Ferrari (slowly becoming my favourite)

Seigfried

Godspeed

Yeah I see what you mean tbh but then I still haven't given it much chance to sink in since I rarely play music these days unless I'm in the car but there is no physical CD yet (this sentence really needs a comma in it somewhere ). But I know that CO took a whole 6 months for me to fully appreciate how flawless it is. Not to say Blonde will do the same but Frank's music has never been instant and the lack of melodies makes this album even less so imo.

I've just been lay down in the shower, extremely hungover and having an emotional moment with 'Ivy'.

This album might not be of Channel Orange calibre but fucking hell it's not far off.

A grower of an album, very atmospheric so my kind of album, it's true this isn't one with melodies and hooks so this album isn't mainstream but despite that Blonde still went to No 1 in the UK which shows the loyalty of his fanbase. This is my album of the year so far.
