I don't think the video helped. I mean when Mel B can do her self funded single on the actual desperate housewives set, I don't see why The Saturdays are doing theirs completely against a green screen.
I think we can all agree that the video was very poorly executed. I can see why some people are criticizing the production on the song itself. The song lacks energy and is missing that extra "oomph" that most of their singles deliver. Whether or not that's related to "production" is debatable. I think it is, as a fuller instrumental would've helped significantly.

Their one single I liked.

Flopped. Ruined their career.

Whoops!

:arrr:

I think that the lack of a chorus where they all sing also didn't work for me. this was no Call The Shots.

Not Giving Up, Disco Love, Lease My Love, Leave A Light On and of course Wildfire were all strong single material and yet they chose Gentleman. Bizzare. Although IIRC Disco Love didn't actually exist at this point.

I don't think it did! I can't remember who said it in one of those "Create your own singles discography" but releasing LFTW after What About Us might have been more useful.

The rap especially sounds like it was recorded in a karaoke booth.

I can see where they were coming from with this single, to a point - it's very quirky, pretty catchy, and given to them by American producers/writers (I think?). However I think it would have been best left as a crazy album track moment. As a single it was too much of a gamble, and just way too different to 'What About Us'. It was never going to capture the casual audience who enjoyed that song.

The video seriously let them down too. It's one of the most obvious "green screen" videos ever, it looked so tacky.

when What About Us went to number 1, everyone said their next single had to be different to give them their 'Biology moment' and that is what they tried to do. if they had came out with a song like 808 everyone wouldve called them predictable

Who cares what people called them as long as they'd had careers? I'd rather have a few people on the internet calling me boring than murder my career!

I actually do love this and the video as cringe as it is. Everything about the video is cringe and over the top. It's all part of the fun.

I certainly knew nothing of it!
I heard this like 2 years ago... Isn't this old news?

Yes, it is. Pretty sure it leaked during Summer 2013?

I quite like to listen to it everynow and then. The chorus is delivered with bit more 'sass/laid-back attitude' that was greatly needed in my opinion. On the other hand, I think our girls did better in the verses.

LMAO, I just checked, it was literally posted on the previous page...by myself, lmao.

Lol :kink: in my defence, I wasn't a member of Buzzjack then. And also, had no idea who Tinashe was (did anyone?)
