July 3, 201312 yr Author So despite two weeks at No1 Bingo Players are unlikely to finish in the top50 of the year. Yes - they're barely hanging on in the T200 now...
July 3, 201312 yr Yes - they're barely hanging on in the T200 now... I'm surprised they're even that high, both now and in the YTD. For a 2 week #1 it has felt like a bit of a flop. Same goes for Duke Dumont really although that didn't drop as quickly.
July 3, 201312 yr I recall getting criticised for suggesting that Bingo Players would probably finish at the bottom of the end of year top 75 when it first topped the charts, but that's exactly the way it's heading!
July 3, 201312 yr I can't remember what I predicted about it at the time but it's not exactly the sort of song that does THAT well these days, it was very lucky to get that second week at the top.
July 3, 201312 yr Bingo Players is kind of like what happened with Good Times by Roll Deep a few years ago, as in a good run at #1 but then not so much after that (except Good Times was really mainstream and radio-friendly, kind of strange it didn't sell more consistently). With regards to Bingo Players, the song could've sold more if it was given a commercial push earlier. It seems most of this forum aren't aware of how popular the instrumental version of the song was last year... Not to mention, the only major radio station that played the song was Radio 1. If Capital were playing the song, like they still are with other songs that came out around the same time, the song would still be selling. It's simple. Just because Capital and Heart aren't playing the song it doesn't mean it's bad/not deserving of #1.

July 4, 201312 yr Author I would've expected you to be happy about this. Doesn't it mean you can get more accurate figures now? Not really, as they only quoted 5 figures out of 40 for singles - and only one of those was more than 1k different from my estimate... :)
July 4, 201312 yr Just think of this Paul, the OCC are not stealing your thunder, they are playing catch up, for a may years now you have been doing YTD, they are now aware of forums like this, and are coming through with more information so they are not beaten to it. Also notice how from January this year, we have had accurate sales on the singles chart of the whole Top 10 week on week, so forums like this are doing their job, getting the OCC to give up more information. Well done Paul(vidcapper) for effectively forcing them into supplying more information as your YTD's are very accurate.
July 5, 201312 yr Yes, well done Vidcapper! And thanks again for all your hard work every day/week/year, I can't tell you how much I'd miss your threads if they stopped! I started becoming an avid Chartwatcher in about 1994 - I've no idea why, and I always thought I would've grown out of it but I never did! I always regret that these sort of week-by-week sales threads weren't available back then, but you would've had a much harder job back then as, as I remember from music week, hardly any sales were ever divulged except those of the number one - you were really lucky if even they gave sales for the number two single! I really hope OCC never find a way of shutting down these threads as they have done with others! Thanks again!

Thanks - I wish I could really take credit for it though. :) I'm surprised the OCC haven't tried to lean on me, though... :P Yes, well done Vidcapper! Thank you too. :) A lot of the credit must go to ChartsPlus though - without their comprehensive info, the YTD's would be very much harder to compile, ad be far less accurate.
