Artists airing their grievances to make tabloid news and sell another dozen (thousand) records while making themselves look stupid is sadly widespread. Ultimately, it’s just a lame way to sell (often bad) music by appealing to the kind of people who think it’s really fascinating when celebrities get angry. Well then eat your heart out, Perez readers, here’s the new pop feud of the week: Lana Del Rey “hates” Lady Gaga and thinks she “sucks.” That’s right, they used to be buddies but evidently Lizzy Grant (that’s Lana to you) was a bit dissatisfied with how Gaga just wasn’t keepin’ it real enough for her. A new Lana Del Rey track called “So Legit” apparently “leaked” onto the web yesterday (“Oops” Lana’s agent reportedly said while buying a new car for his new dog). The song is unambiguously at Gaga’s throat with some real biting lyrics. I’ll highlight a few of the best: You’re looking like a man, you’re talking like a baby / How the f*** is your song in a Coke commercial, crazy? Is this a dig at the idea of “selling out” by being in commercials? Because that’s not gonna work. Maybe Grant just thinks Gaga’s music isn’t good enough for advertising deals? Stefani, you suck, I know you’re selling twenty million / Wish they could have seen you when we booed you off in Williamsburg Ooh, sick burn, right? Again the exact meaning behind the digs here is a little confusing. Is she mad because Gaga is selling lots of records (supposedly) without the artistic chops to justify that success? Or is it just that selling millions of records is a sign of bein’ a total wack bitch? (Don’t forget, by the way, that Lana’s album sold about 3.5 million copies and was the number five best selling album of 2012, beating out Rod Stewart’s “Merry Christmas, Baby” by two positions and about a million in sales.) And you’d think Lana’s someone who’d sympathize with humble beginnings (with regards to “booed you off in Williamsburg”) considering that her first album failed to make a splash until much later, not to mention the reception of her TV debut on SNL. Oh, girl, I see you walking ‘round in your pearls / Thinking that you’re number one / You’re so funny, ‘cause honey, you’re not Pearls are a classic sign of being a lame-o, apparently. Then Lana just kind of goes off the deep end and starts talking about how the streets were more dangerous when she was a kid and punk rock is dead and whatever. The whole thing is just another unimaginative rehash of the classic “We used to be two cool indie chicks together; I stayed true to the scene but what about you, Gaga? You sold out and now you’re too busy being famous to be down to earth and legit, like me.” It’s the plot of a lot of bad movies (and the subplot of “This is the End” which was actually pretty funny). But I’ll give Lana massive benefit of the doubt here and say maybe she’s being “ironic” or something. Just listen to the song, though: The lines flounder awkwardly within the rhythm on the track, the lyrics are lazy and cheap, the echo drowns out any semblance of vocal talent, but here’s my real problem: The whole thing stinks of artificial drama spun up by Lana Del Rey’s PR/marketing people (maybe even in cahoots with Gaga’s?!) to bring back the spotlight to an artist whose fame has always been about the Lana Del Rey character rather than the music. It’s vapid, it’s weak, and it’ll probably hype up whatever crap-fest she’s got planned next. If Lana Del Rey wants the music cred she clearly thinks she deserves then she needs to stay out of the tabloids and get back in the studio. Of course, she’s probably in the studio right now recording a make-up track with Gaga. It’ll sell, too. Source All over the web and Twitter right now! :drama:
July 24, 201311 yr Talentless fish  Where did her last single chart? Actually, where did any of them chart? Edited July 24, 201311 yr by #Toby
July 24, 201311 yr Talentless fish  Where did her last single chart? Actually, where did any of them chart? 9, 9, 32, 96, 60, 32 and 23. I love both and I'm taking this whole thing with a pinch of salt.
July 25, 201311 yr The reason for this diss was because this track was written back in 2008 when her manager left her after he discovered Gaga and became focused on pushing her. Obviously this can only mean Lana is one bitter person.
July 25, 201311 yr GOD LOCK THIS BITCH UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY, ACTUALLY NO EVEN DEATH PENALTY IS TOO GOOD FOR HER!!1!! How dare anyone say anything not positive about Her Royal Highness Saviour, Inventor and Pioneer of Pop Music Stefani Angelina Germanotta :o :o :o (I love her but jeez the Internet gays should get over it, the song is 5 years old!)

That article in the first post is awful. You can just tell that they are automatically prejudiced against Lana or a Gaga fansite.
July 25, 201311 yr brb deleting all lana songs and flushing all lana cds bye lana I'm sure she is totally crushed at this sad news.

July 26, 201311 yr I personally believe that even though the song was written long ago, it shows what type of fake bitter person Lana is. Personally, I will not forgive her for this. I've lost my respect for her. Like Toby said, very bad career move, a lot of her fans are hardcore little monsters.

July 26, 201311 yr How overdramatic are you? I'm not, Lana is very disrespectful. How would you feel if someone wrote something like she did about you?
July 26, 201311 yr Author What saddens me is that Gaga almost never has anything bad to say about other artists or people in fact, she even goes as far as to compliment people like Taylor Swift :hithead: And yet she's the one constantly getting hate.
July 31, 201311 yr Well Lana has not lost many fans by the looks of how well Summertime Sadness' remix is doing. Which is a pity obviously.
