Jonjo, unless I've misinterpreted, did you call 'Bag It Up' a cover? It's an original! Also, 'Scream' wasn't the lead single from her second album - 'It's Raining Men' was.

Sorry to be picky. :kink: On the whole, good results so far! No major casualties. 'All I Need To Know' is hella underrated though. :( Fairly surprised 'Lift Me Up' is that high - it's generally her most hated single amongst the hardcore Spice/Geri fans.

NO WAY IS 'Bag It Up' an ORIGINAL? :\ Whaaaaaaaaat! Why does it sound so familiar then? Did she sample anything for it? Also, as you can tell, I don't really give two craps about a lot of GH's stuff. So I don't particularly care if 'Scream...' is the 2nd single, 3rd single, 8th single... it just shouldn't have been made and released in the first place :kink:

Surely that post permits either a warning or suspension :o

I didn't vote as I only really care about Emma's stuff. It's a shame that Crickets... is so low. It's such a bizarre song to cover and release . Maybe for the win!
How did this time beat understand ?

So kick starting the top 20 we have one of Geri Halliwell most recent singles and the last of her singles to make the UK's official top 10 at #4 (SOMEHOW!). Completely baffling. I'm surprised to see it's so well liked on here. Even with an average score of just above "6", it's made the top 20 and is Buzzjack's 3rd favourite Geri Halliwell song. At number 19 is the wonderful 'First Day of My Life' by Melanie C. Such a beautiful and meaningful song. Surprised but pleased to see it managed to get top 20 on here though, despite failing to reach the UK top 75. It was the third and final single from her third studio album, 'Beautiful Intentions' following the second single 'Better Alone'. And continuing into the top 20 is the 2nd of 9 Melanie C entries. The gloriously uplifting, joyous and fantastic, 'On The Horizon'. It "only" managed to reach #14 and spend just a poor 2 weeks inside the top 40, but gathered a decent 7 weeks inside the top 75 after all things considered. It really should have done better! It received my "11" and I stand by that score. Fantastic! Very pleased at it finishing at #18.

At number 17 we have the first of a surprising, THREE entries by Mrs. Beckham. 'Not Such An Innocent Girl' was the first, stand alone, solo single from Victoria Beckham. It went straight into our charts at number 6! The success of Viccy's singles are actually pretty surprising. Looking at her chart runs, she's the only Spice Girl to have a 100% top 10 streak (even if it is only 4 singles)! Next up is Emma Bunton's lead single, from her second studio album of the same name. #it went on to be a pretty decent sized hit, peaking at number 5 and managing 9 weeks in the top 75. It's nice enough I guess, but completely average in the grand scheme of things.

I'm glad to see you appreciate Lift Me Up as much as I do, I love it. Remember being addicted to the video whenever it popped on MTV. I dont like Bag It Up and god knows why it reached #1...

Take My Breath Away so low? WTF? Its a beautiful ballad.

This Groove was a nice change of sound for Vicky, smooth R&B track. I definitely prefer it over Let Your Head Go which while I liked, is a bit bland, but the video saves it for sure, you cant go wrong with Vicky making fun of herself

Tell Me was such a banging R&B tune, I knew it wouldn't be well liked here but for me its the highlight of her career, and she's actually had quite a decent run of singles.

Melanie C I find overall a tad overrated. She's had a few killer singles during her Northern Star era, but the rest for me are for the most part quite MEH.

In the top 15 we have 3 separate Spice Girls, at #15 is Victoria Beckham's first solo venture away from the group. 'Out Of Your Mind' was a MASSIVE #2 hit for her in the UK. It was ahead of it's time by about 4 or 5 years! Who'd have thought? It's probably the song that inspired Liberty X's debut single, 'Thinking It Over'. UK Garage was a "thing" at some point in the UK charts and the chart run for this song shows how big that music was at the time. The equivalent we have nowadays is the "dubstep" genre. A great debut effort for "Sticky Vicky". Emma Bunton's first solo venture also makes an appearance, one place higher. In the UK charts it was battling it out with former Spice Girl and friend, Geri Halliwell's 'Lift Me Up'. Despite being the bookies favourite (iirc) and being hyped a lot more than Geri's single, Emma Bunton couldn't quite get there. Rightfully so too. Such a non-event of a song, imo. The production is a bit dull and doesn't really go anywhere, despite it obviously trying to. At number 13 and the final Melanie B single in this countdown, the lucious and "feel good", 'Feels So Good'. Such a smooth, uptempo late 90's early 00's R&B number! 'Feels So Good' became a third consecutive, top 5 hit for Mel. Despite peaking lower than the previous two, it wouldn't surprise me if this eventually became her biggest hit. It's definitely her most remembered hit.

So just missing the top 10 we have two Melanie C, pop-rock anthems. Finishing at #12 is Melanie's last top 10 hit, 'Next Best Superstar'. It peaked at number 10 and fell out the top 75 quicker than you could say "Liverpool". I remember disliking 'Next Best Superstar' to begin with as the first time I'd heard it, was on some performance on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway or something and it was NOT good. But then I saw the video on some music channels and it was LOVE. Then we have Mel's last ever top 75 hit, the gorgeous and just as punchy, 'Carolyna'. It peaked at #49 here in the UK and it should have been another top 10 smash for her, imo. There's something to these two songs that the likes of Avril, P!nk and even Queen Kelly C would have loved to have got their hands on. Just as strong as any of their hits!

So we have the top 10!

02 EMMA BUNTON

02 GERI HALLIWELL

05 MELANIE C

01 VICTORIA BECKHAM

The songs are:

'I Turn To You'

'Let Your Head Go'

'Look At Me'

'Maybe'

'Mi Chico Latino'

'Never Be the Same Again'

'Northern Star'

'Think About It'

'What Took You So Long'

'When You're Gone'

Any predictions? Will Mel C hold the top 5 positions?!

Mi Chico Latino for #01.

This! its easily the best Spice Girl track! People overrate Carolyna too much on here to the point I have bile in my mouth :(

I seem to be in the top ratings for most songs, I do adore solo spice material on the whole. Victoria has some amazing and underrated songs and I thought Geri was more liked!

Out of the songs remaining I'd put Look At Me on top but I think it'll be NBTSA as Mel C seems to be getting all the love.

Damn I missed this? :(

WHAT IS NOT SUCH AN INNOCENT GIRL DOING SO LOOOOOOW? >( NOOOOOOOO!

Kick starting the top 10 is Geri Halliwell with one of her better songs. It's fun, summery and catchy. It's got things you would like in a fun, pop song. I love the Spanish feel it has to it and it actually sounds quite fresh still. I keep forgetting it actually made it all the way to number 1 for her though. I keep imagining it as a "peak at #4" sort of song. But I think that's just to me associating it with it's position on her 'Schizophonic' album. It's a shame that it's out before 'Look At Me' as it's far superior.

So, despite having a fairly avid and vocal fanbase here on Buzzjack (I honestly thought she'd do so much better!) Geri Halliwell has failed to progress in the rate any further as her final song, 'Look At Me', her debut single, crashed at just #9. I truly believed she'd be top 5 with at LEAST one of her songs. Didn't quite expect her to be the 2nd Spice Girl to be eliminated from the process. 'Look At Me' is so dramatic and so unique as a song. It's a shame that I find it ridiculously annoying, but I can't knock her for trying and more importantly succeeding with such a risk of a song. It could have quite easily have slumped, but it did in fact become a big hit for her. It was a huge number 2 in the UK charts. She was prevented by Boyzone's non-number 1 'You Needed Me' (who even remembers that?).

Up next is the first of FIVE entries in the top 10 for Melanie C. It's the lead single 'Think About It', from her most recent, studio album, 'The Sea' ('Stages' never existed in my eyes). It's something that really should have smashed! It's very "now" and current and isn't too different to something you'd expect from the likes of Katy Perry, Ke$ha et al. It followed the buzz single, 'Rock Me' and it reached #95 in the UK top 100 (according to wiki it reached #15 on the UK indie chart ). Such a catchy, simple, fun pop song and it was a very good comeback single for her.

At number 7 we have the beautiful 'Northern Star' by Melanie C. This was the second single to be taken from her debut solo album of the same name. It managed to be a pretty big #4 hit for her to give her a third, consecutive top 5 hit as a solo star. I love how understated yet powerful the song is. But as we know it only set her up to the two biggest hits of her career (both of which are still to come!).

Just missing out on a top 5 placing is the final entry from Victoria Beckham. As the main A-Side (?) to her double A-sided single, this was her last venture into the UK singles chart as a soloist and smashed it's way into the top 3 (making it the joint highest peak position for a solo Spice Girl (with Bunton's 'Downtown', since Geri's number 1 hit, 'It's Raining Men')! It's 2004's 88th best selling single, with complete sales of 68,656, sales which would struggle to get you top 200 10 years later! Such a great song and could easily be a hit now I reckon. The video is absolutely BRILLIANT though. Well worth watching! (Who says Posh Spice doesn't have a sense of humour?!)

The top 5 is:

02 EMMA BUNTON

03 MELANIE C

The songs are:

'I Turn To You'

'Maybe'

'Never Be the Same Again'

'What Took You So Long'

'When You're Gone'

Which song wins? Any shockers? (Shouldn't be imo - Although as I said earlier I can't believe not one Geri song is top 5 - pleased though.)
