August 26, 200618 yr The Diamond award is an International award given for albums that have sold over 10 million copies Worldwide.
August 26, 200618 yr The Diamond award is an International award given for albums that have sold over 10 million copies Worldwide. ah, thanks. That clears that up a bit then.
August 26, 200618 yr Yep it does, thanks for that! But that's a certification isn't it from the RIAA? There's another award called diamond award given by the World Music Awards for sales over 150 million albums I -think-... -edit- World Music Chopard Diamond Award for selling over 100 million albums worldwide - I think that's it :D Edited August 26, 200618 yr by Kalen
August 26, 200618 yr The Diamond award is an International award given for albums that have sold over 10 million copies Worldwide. Actually no, it's an award given for artist that have sold over 100 million albums during their musical career..:) But for her Diamond Award they did an exact (or as exact is they can be) count (by Soundscan, etc.).. Celine sold, from 1987 to August 31, 2004, a total of 174,436,400 albums around the world. Not the sales of her first twelve (French) albums, which were recorded before her contract with Sony (1987). Well she has released a couple of more albums since that time and of course her backcatalogue has been selling well too.. So it should be around the 80 million at the moment (I reckon the number on that Wikipedia list is a *bit* too high). :) Edited August 26, 200618 yr by CSCfan
August 27, 200618 yr I know Diamond IS the certification for selling 10m albums worldwide, I dunno about this OTHER Diamond Award, thing but Diamond is definately a certificate of 10m sales. ;)
August 27, 200618 yr I know Diamond IS the certification for selling 10m albums worldwide, I dunno about this OTHER Diamond Award, thing but Diamond is definately a certificate of 10m sales. ;) That's in the US (don't know about the UK).. If an album has sold more than 10 million copies (in the US), it gets a Diamond certification. For example, Shania Twain is the only one (at least in North America) that has had 3 consecutive albums that sold more than 10 million copies each, so getting 3 Diamond certifications. But the Diamond Award at the World Music Awards is for artists that have sold over 100 million albums in their career..:) Edited August 27, 200618 yr by CSCfan
