I think Bristol city is a team that won't be grabbing headlines just yet. We've made some excellent signings in Jet, Aden flint, Jordan Wynter and Wagstaff. Baldock seems to have recaptured some form at the moment, whilst it's also nice to see the youth being blended in for once. In recent years it hasn't been much use having an academy, but just yesterday we had young bobby Reid and Joe Bryan starting. Sean O'Driscoll's tactics are gradually getting through to the players. A 47 pass move for the second goal at Gillingham really is outplaying them. He has the potential with his visions to potentially be one of the greatest managers this club has seen. Yes, he may be perceived as boring, but he reminds me a lot of Brian clough in terms of the way he can talk. I think it's extremely important we all stick with his vision for the club.

Even through the good points, there are a few areas of concern. If Baldock gets injured, all we have at the moment is marlon harewood, so we could do with another quick forward. Nakhi Wells was meant to have been for talks with SO'D a few weeks ago. I think we also need a more experienced partner for flint in on loan. Derick Williams is okay, but we cant rely on him for a whole season. A spare right back is also needed.

To summarise for other league 1 fans. A lot of people will be writing us already, especially when you look at Peterborough (especially) and wolves, but I wouldn't be too hasty as when this side eventually clicks together, We could become a dark horse, much like Bournemouth last season, and where did they finish after a poor start.

Here's to beating palarse, the gas and shrewsbury anyway, coyr!!!! :D

A Sean O'Driscoll side will always take time to come together properly, you just need to be patient. This season will possibly too much, though top 6 is certainly a possibility. I said pre-season that Peterborough would run away with that league and it looks like they just might. They're probably the best example of a team being 'too good' for a division that I've seen, I'd worry about playing that squad as a fan of a top Championship side.

I really don't get Arsenal fans, anyone wishing Wenger out is, in my opinion, an utter moron and it shows a complete lack of gratitude for everything he's done since the Emirates was built. So what they haven't won a trophy, would everything be SO much better if they'd have beaten Birmingham? For them to have finished in the top four every single year whilst the manager essentially had his hands tied (particularly in comparison to the other top sides in the division), whilst continuing to find players, improving them and selling them for a massive profit (although less at the 'right time' like he did with Vieira etc.) is nothing short of remarkable. From new year last year they were as good as any Premier League team (infact no team got more points) because their signings gelled and they didn't miss van Persie or Song anywhere near as much as people predicted. This summer they've got rid of almost all of the utter shite Wenger has accumulated over the years, there's only Bendtner remaining and it looks like he will go before the end of the window. Their squad is small but doesn't lack quality. They're absolutely fine at full back, have as good a first choice centre half partnership as anyone in the league, though do need greater cover given how often Vermaelen gets injured and Koscielny's habit for a couple of red cards a year. Szczesny is a fine young keeper and worth sticking with though he does need greater competition as his form does tend to dip. I don't think Cesar would be the answer. Central midfield they're blessed though do lack an 'enforcer' and are a bit injury prone, Ramsey has looked superb in the last 6 months, yet fans made him scapegoat last year. Their forward line is again great but does lack depth, still I'd rather rely on a kid coming in than Gervinho or Chamakh. I can't blame them for their transfer dealings either, I don't get why they didn't go for Gustavo but whatever reason for Higuain not coming (he didn't want to move to England, Real increasing their demands, they thought they could get Suarez - a better player) it's hardly their fault, neither is it if they were mis-informed about his release clause.

A draw against Brentford is a good result for Carlisle, though they should have won with the opposition down to 10 men. Rare collector's item for Carlisle, a clean sheet.

I can't see Di Canio lasting long either, I seem to recall Di Canio referring to a new era.

We beat the gas on live tv!!!! so happy :D

as for the news headlines. My view, from actually being there, was that there was not nearly enough police in force for a Bristol derby. A lot of the blame has been put on us which is unfair. Considering the gas were trying all game to force their way into the Williams stand full of city fans. they had various runners on the pitch who were allowed to leap back into the crowd unchallenged. They threw seats at our supporters as well, Yet the media seem to think it was all Bristol city.

Not saying we are blameless, the storming of the pitch at the end was embarrassing and angered me so much. 1 of our fans did spit at one of their players, again unexcusable. The fighting before and after the game was also awful by both sides.

I hope some bans are handed out for their fans as much as ours as it was JOINTLY bad. it's a shame the actions of about 30 individuals/18500 people ruined what was a brilliant game. The goals were spectacular from Jet and Joe Bryan. The link is below If anyone's interested :D

The first goal was a very powerful shot indeed, I thought it had broken the net.

Hoping Carlisle get another clean sheet tomorrow.

they were both certainly fantastic goals. :D and seen you have a bad start to the season but you will probs improve. Think we play you soon actually :D

Unlucky yesterday, from the commentary we certainly deserved a point from the game.

26th October is when your team makes the long journey north and the journey south for Carlisle is on 1st February.

oh right, not as soon as I thought then :D and I see that your club have acted by sacking Gregg abbot! :D

There has been a lot of discussion on the Radio Cumbria forum this evening. Largely sympathetic reaction for Greg on there.

Anyway, they hope to have a successor in place by a week Saturday.

Well, at least Gareth Bale has avoided the fate of a previous player with a massive transfer fee to his name. Fernando Torres took a long time to score his first goal for Chelsea but Bale took just 39 minutes to score for Real Madrid. He probably won't score many easier goals.

Least he didn't do a Woodgate either...

Carlisle managed to get their first win and a clean sheet at Brunton Park. :o Not sure which I am more surprised about. Anyway, hope that result gives the players' confidence a boost and result in better performances.
