Poor management from the people above AVB. Bought too many similar type players etc. and probably end up cutting your losses on Lamela and Soldado. Still think you've the backbone of a good team mind.

Lamela is highly regarded in Italy and South America, i think we will get our money back on him, Soldado would still be in demand in Spain but as he a year older i think realistically we would get about 18m

Eriksen i would keep, he has probably doubled in value now, 10m+

Capoue been injured most of time since we got him same with Chirches, think they might still come good, especially with Kaboul retiring at the end of the season we will need Vlad

That Belgian bloke, cant remember his name, only cost couple of million so wasn't a big gamble

Someone will pay £20m for Lamela certainly, but only Juventus have much spending capital at the moment. You paid what £28m for a 29 year old? Think you'd be lucky if you got half of that back considering the massive wages he'll be only and Barcelona/Real Madrid won't be going after him. Athletico possibly if they sell Costa, although I'd expect Torres to be a shoe-in replacement.

You just have so many athletes, and not enough footballers. It's like you went for pace and strength, over technical ability. You need a careful balance.

This is getting so over blown that it's rather ridiculous.

I should talk about Soldado more lol, today after discussing him on here he scored a goal in open play

Hopefully confidence will return and he will start banging them in

As for Pardew, a lot of fuss about nothing, the Hull player shoved him out of the way, he was within his rights to react how he did, if Pardew gets a ban so should Meyler

Nobody is within their rights to headbutt - or threaten to headbutt - anybody. Pardew's reaction was grossly unprofessional and should not just be dismissed lightly.

He should not have done it but Meyler should not have shoved him first, they are both as bad as each other and should face the same punishment

If someone came up to me in the street and gave me a sharp push unprovoked it would take incredible restraint not to punch their lights out

And if you succumbed to that temptation then you would - quite rightly - be facing the prospect of jail.

Maybe so, but Pardew is only flesh blood and bone he is not a robot, he didn't show that restraint and yes he should be punished, but I think it totally wrong Meyler is going to get of this without sanction

Rightly or wrongly, they are the rules. The referee saw the incident and booked Meyler. Under the rules, that is the end of the matter.

As for the general point on reacting with violence, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

It isn't in terms of proportion of force but the headbutt would not have happened but for the shove, so Meyler instigated the whole thing so should be punished too imho

If say Charlie Adam 2 foot tackled someone and then they got up and elbowed Charlie Adam it would be a disproportionate use of force but also Adam' fault for causing the fracas in the first place

Meyler shouldn't have pushed him - but heat of the moment, these things can happen.

Managers though? Completely uncalled for. He's rightly got a lot of stick, and let's not forget it's not the first time Pardew has been in trouble for stuff on the touchline. He won't get sacked, but I'm expecting he'll get a lengthy touchline ban.

It is not unique though, didn't Mourinho assault a player when he was coach at Real?

And no one can forget Brian Clough beating up a spectator who invaded the pitch a few years ago, several punches

I can't remember the details of that incident but "beating up" is a gross exaggeration. That would imply that the spectator ended up in hospital. It was also a good deal more than "a few years ago" given that he's been dead nearly ten years. However, I do remember Eric Cantona's kung-fu kick which resulted in a very lengthy ban.

Wasn't beating up as such but he did punch 3 fans and shove another in the bit in the first few secs of this clip, if that happened today I would imagine a long ban and even prosecution would happen

Doesn't matter, your reputation counts against you. If this was Tim Sherwood, sure there would be outrage still, but he's largely got a clean past. I'm pretty sure this is possibly the third time this year Pardew's had some tuffles on the touchline.

Take the Suarez situation - other cases of biting in UK football, but he got the book thrown at him.
