April 28, 201411 yr It's great if it's your team and you're winning, otherwise it's awful. It's awful if it's against your team and you're losing. Neutrals can appreciate it just fine.
April 28, 201411 yr It's awful if it's against your team and you're losing. Neutrals can appreciate it just fine. Disagree entirely. I can appreciate when a team needs to defend (e.g. a goal up with 10 minutes to go). Chelsea just invited pressure for 90 minutes, I don't find that entertaining! Like I say, if you're winning matches it's fine. But there comes a point when you play that style and if you're not pushing on, the fans very quickly turn as people want to see expansive football. Just like how loud voices want Allardyce out at West Ham, and how the Stoke fans grew tired of Pulis.
April 28, 201411 yr Author Disappointing really as the match probably would have ended with both sides happy to take a 0-0 if it wasn't for the slip Won't be putting much faith in Everton doing us any favours either considering they've pretty much blown their chances of top 4 It's awful if it's against your team and you're losing. Neutrals can appreciate it just fine. I can appreciate it, but it certainly isn't something I would want to watch even as a neutral Atletico Madrid vs. Chelsea last week? Not my thing

April 28, 201411 yr Kevin Phillips has retired from football at the age of 40. He will joining the coaching staff at Leicester next season. He is the last Englishman to win the Premier League's golden boot after scoring 30 goals for Sunderland in the 1999/2000 season.

Part of what makes it so interesting is that Chelsea don't play defensively for the majority of their games. It would be mad to set up a squad for the season solely for a handful of difficult, cagey games so the challenge is adapting the squad to it when the time arrives.

But to me Mourinho has just flattened over the years. When he was first at Chelsea he absolutely bossed teams, set them up to power over with their physicality and strength. Now he's much more content to just to soak up pressure and hope for a goal.

It was an easier league then. You look at the bottom half now and are more likely to see both teams who have the technical ability to keep possession even against top teams (Swansea) and those who are happy to give up the ball and keep organised (Palace, West Ham etc.). Teams in the bottom half before Mourinho and Benitez came along seem incredibly naive these days.

May 3, 201411 yr I said Rovers would get relegated! Great call. :D Rovers and Cardiff relegated on the same day. Priceless. :yahoo:
May 3, 201411 yr I really like the new banner on Bristol City's official forum. http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/forum/31-football-chat/
May 3, 201411 yr Major overhaul of the squad this summer, hopefully we can get some more players signed on a permanent basis if we get sufficient investment. The amount of short term loans to cover injuries weren't ideal, perhaps long term so they could have been consistently working with the same team mates and had a better chance of gelling together. Anyway, .
May 4, 201411 yr Great call. :D Rovers and Cardiff relegated on the same day. Priceless. :yahoo: Thought it would happen. Northampton were always going to escape, and luckily Wycombe provided the goods right when they needed it. Rovers have been awful for a good six months, if not all season. They'll really struggle next season, especially with no Luton. All the smaller teams will be raising their game. Praying that Everton can be not useless for just this week. They were awful. They worked the channels well, but on my some of their passing was atrocious. Barkley excellent mind. Surely City aren't going to blow this. Can't see them blowing it now, but with the pressure on them now who knows. Praying West Ham can get something. Depends on how bad the injury is to Aguero. I can't see it being bad, but I can't see him wanting to play and miss the World Cup.
May 4, 201411 yr Author Yep can't see Man City blowing it now. Although, I guess the saying is 'It's not over until it's over' Would be horrible to think how close we'd have come, but I guess I'll just console myself with Champions League football Unfortunately that will probably be overlooked by most fans and rightly so considering the position we're in. 7th to 3rd (at least) though is a big achievement especially considering the lack of improvement to the squad over the summer. Mignolet is the only signing that you could say has made a significant impact with the others being in and out or sat warming the bench More games will make it difficult to challenge for the league next season, but there's no reason we can't with the right signings. Rodgers says he expects us to sign 5-6 players over the summer added to Borini, Wisdom, Ibe and Suso back from loan. Luckily Champions League will also hopefully mean no Aspas or Alberto type signings this summer
May 4, 201411 yr I said Rovers would get relegated! Right again! Can you tell next week's lottery numbers please? :P The championship was awesome! Changes at both ends at the last minute :o I think Hamilton 10-2 Morton deserves a mention here as well
