Goldfish finish 4th!

In an incredibly mixed year results-wise for FSR Rontvia which has seen a win, a top ten, a few mid-table finishes and two DNQ's, South African dance act Goldfish boldly went where no South African act has ever gone before for Rontvia: into the top 20. And not just the top 20, it was a smashing 4th place finish for the Rontvian top three hit Moonwalk Away (Moonlanding Mix), following in the footsteps of Sanna Nielsen and Michael Woods by finishing 4th. Both have incidentally gone on to far greater success in winning Melodifestivalen/coming top three in Eurovision and now winning BJSC so there's hope yet for Goldfish that poor brave DJ Kent and The Arrows will never have.

Ricardo Delta said: "Granted the song had a few amazing predictions but others thought it would finish nowhere near the top ten, so we were happy to prove doubters wrong. RontBet had it pegged for 4th in the end, which it obviously got. It's amazing to have a third top ten hit this year, we've had a much better time than the disaster of 2013 and hope to be back again in the final next month, we have two contenders for the next contest so it will be interesting to see which one the Rontvian public pick. We're also very pleased to see Jamvale, our 12 pointer and dear former Rontvian entrant Michael Woods, take the contest home. In Your Arms has gone top 10 in the nation this week."

i'm sad that my one man hype train couldnt be fulfilled completely for you but so thrilled this did well <3 thanks for the shining light in what is a pretty awful top 10 save a few :(

No worries Leww, I didn't even expect it to qualify initially so I'm more than ecstatic at my result, thanks for the support throughout!

YAY for waving the South African flag high during Kathaldazia ha ikonec blackout era :magic:

Happy to do my duty!

The first South African top 5 entry since our ikonec 'Wind It' if I recall correctly :o

I think Tirren got a much lesser Jody song into the top five in 2011 :o

This song definitely wasn't on my winner contender radar until Leww's odds but with hindsight it is a little bit winnerish, really has a bit of a 'Moan' vibe to it. Didn't quite get points from me (though it was very close so watch out for it to hit the top 2 in my personal chart when it's a big UK hit in a year ~~~) but I'd have preferred this to win over any of the top 3.

Minx for 69!

Australian female DJ Minx and Triple J Unearthed find Hannah Joy have teamed up for FSR Rontvia's 69th BJSC entry, Hold On. A stunning slice of melodic progressive house, Hannah's solo version, essentially an indie song, was released last year and Minx has recently sprinkled her own magic onto it, turning it into a Calvin Harris meets Reflekt-esque production. Ricardo Delta said: "We just love this song here in FSR Rontvia, it's already reached the national top three and we hope it can find some fans in this Jamvale-hosted extravaganza! Minx and Hannah are both real talents, Minx is sort of like a cross between an unbearded Conchita and Judith from Alice Deejay, what a beauty!"

Listen to Hold On below:

Rae Morris is giving away the new album version of Don't Go to everyone on her mailing list at the moment. Beefier production than the original, doesn't sound any better or worse for it.

Minx and Hannah claim another smash!

Continuing FSR Rontvia's hit or bust theme, Australian's Minx and Hannah Joy exceeded expectations by scoring over 100 points and finishing 14th with Hold On in BJSC 69, held in Jamvale. Ricardo Delta said: "We thought we were going to end up a good ten or so places lower. We're really pleased at this result and another hit in a relatively solid year for the nation, certainly a recovery from the mess that was 2013 at least." The song has peaked at No.2 in the Rontvian charts. Blonde's I Loved You has peaked at No.12, the only other BJSC 69 entry to do so, and has won the contest in emphatic style, with the full 12 from the Rontvian voters, the second consecutive month that we've given full marks to the winner.
