Posted August 12, 201311 yr We haven't quite finished the voting stage yet, but I'm gonna start this now so we aren't hanging on for months to find out the results like some other top 200 countdowns in this forum I could mention (not Gezza's, that guy is great). Anyway, thanks to any of you who has decided to vote over the course of this competition and be sure to vote in the rounds still going. This'll be humming quietly along over the next two weeks as we do the playoff and final voting and then hopefully speed up immediately following that with whatever's left. Please feel free to comment on your favourite songs as they go past. And so... August 12, 201311 yr Author A few stats before we get to the top 200: The following songs have fallen out of the top 200, including one from last year's final. August 12, 201311 yr Author http://unrealityshout.com/files/imagecache/image_460/alexis_jordan_happiness_mv.jpg 200 - 113 The Killers - Human 4.293 (46 - 73 - 109 - 113 - 200) 199 - 147 Girls Aloud - Untouchable 4.304 (X - 39 - 147 - 199) 198 - 67 Robyn - Be Mine! 4.317 (X - X - 126 - 67 - 198) 197 - 182 The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition 4.326 (X - 196 - 182 - 197) 196 - NE (224) Alexis Jordan - Happiness 4.333 (X - X - 196) Interestingly, the song at #201, Love The Way You Lie, was one behind Human last year as well. The Killers just barely hold onto their all top 200 run for a 5th year with an average of just over 4 as the top 200 benchmark, but as they've declined every year it's not looking too good for a 6th year of questioning whether we are just dancer.  Two BJ faves from Girls Aloud and Robyn also appear, I have no idea why Untouchable normally does so well but it looks like those days may soon be over, while Be Mine is sublime just like most of everything else Robyn has done.  Stadium anthem Sweet Disposition and the most inspiring song ever Brazil 2nd Edit Happiness make up the rest of the opening section. This is Alexis Jordan's first time in the top 200 so I want you to welcome her with open arms and let's hope this is the first of many as she becomes a Buzzjack star for generations to come.
August 12, 201311 yr Author http://thelavalizard.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/nicki-minaj-pound-the-alarm-5_thelavalizard.jpg 195 NE Beyoncé - If I Were A Boy 4.366 (X - X - X - X - 195) 194 NE Nicki Minaj - Pound The Alarm 4.367 (194) 193 NE (377) Keri Hilson (feat. Kanye West, Ne-Yo) - Knock You Down 4.370 (X - X - X - 193) 192 60 Kelis - Acapella 4.378 (139 - 60 - 192) 191 251 The Black Eyed Peas - Shut Up 4.378 (157 - 83 - X - 185 - 144 - X - X - 191) Perhaps surprisingly, this is the first time If I Were A Boy and Knock You Down have made it into the top 200. For the former, it has never been among Beyoncé's universally well-regarded singles so this is not altogether surprising, it's the likes of Halo and Crazy In Love that unite the internet pop scene more, but it's always felt like Knock You Down is genuinely popular on here. Maybe I've just fallen victim to Jonjo's amazing skills at hyping a song he loves.  It's also the first appearance of Pound The Alarm, although that's natural, due to it being the first song in this top 200 from 2012. Nicki Minaj's secondary dancefloor anthem has always had mixed reactions due to being yet another dancefloor anthem in a year that was already quite full of them as it was. But as this is a positive competition, no haters can bring it down and it's ok. I think I count this as my favourite Nicki song, although I can never be entirely sure as they're all of a quality that is best summarised 'ok but mustn't be played too much or they grate hard'. Acapella registers a huge fall from coming 60th last time. Last year it was Kelis' highest song, now it's her lowest (of the 4 that made the top 200 this time). And then we have a Black Eyed Peas single from their early days which is probably one of their best overall but has always been of middling popularity.
August 12, 201311 yr We haven't quite finished the voting stage yet, but I'm gonna start this now so we aren't hanging on for months to find out the results like some other top 200 countdowns in this forum I could mention (not Gezza's, that guy is great). NEXT YEAR You'll see. (Unless Jack lets me down again) Lol wut @ 'Knock You Down' not making the top 200 until this year. 'If I Were A Boy' should have stayed out tho eww. 'Sweet Disposition' still FAR too low and overdue a sudden opinion shift. Woop for 'Human' scraping in again.
August 12, 201311 yr Sweet Disposition  (although seeing it below 'Pound the Alarm' and 'If I Were a Boy' is rather saddening)Â
August 12, 201311 yr Author http://www.bubblews.com/assets/images/news/1181251245_1374212073.jpghttp://ivybetty.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Losing-You-4.jpeg 190 133 MGMT - Time To Pretend 4.390 (X - 160 - 73 - 133 - 190) 189 53 MGMT - Kids 4.390 (X - 12 - 112 - 53 - 189) 188 NE Solange - Losing You 4.408 (188) 187 175 Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music 4.415 (92 - 63 - 61 - 175 - 187) 186 NE (211) Bodyrox (feat. Luciana) - Yeah Yeah 4.421 (X - X - X - X - X - X - 186) Forget what happened above, we have a new entry whose absence in the top 200 prior to now astounds me, Bodyrox's hit featuring Luciana, Yeah Yeah, as it has more than a bit of a cult following here on Buzzjack, or so it seems. It makes a debut at #186 here, a little above the first of many Rihanna singles. Don't Stop The Music slips slightly again from last year, although nowhere near as much as the almighty fall it sustained last year. It's aged well for me and if I heard it in a club again I likely be ecstatic/go wild. I have my character flaws. A strong new entry comes in one place below them, from a non-hit that Buzzjack has taken into its collective consciousness, the stunning Losing You by Beyoncé's little sister. I never really expected it to reach these heights but it's the sort of song that appeals to most people here without any need for success or anything like that. Previously renowned in this competition for opinion swings involving these two songs wildly swapping places each year, MGMT's Kids and Time To Pretend have not done the same this year, instead, by some form of cosmic coincidence, they've landed on exactly the same score. Kids has had a better past in the competition, but Time To Pretend has given it all where it matters, unfortunately for both of them, this marks their worst year so far.
August 12, 201311 yr Author http://phuketnews.phuketindex.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/22218.jpghttp://cache.vevo.com/Content/VevoImages/video/E6BE7EBB4698CEB41F7D9B1C3198DF51.jpg 185 RE Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin' 4.421 (63 - X - 148 - X - X - X - 185) 184 142 Crystal Castles (feat. Robert Smith) - Not In Love 4.467 (173 - 142 - 184) 183 NE Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) 4.469 (183) 182 129 Chemical Brothers - Galvanize 4.474 (X - X - X - X - 163 - 45 - 129 - 182) 181 184 Goldfrapp - A&E 4.488 (89 - X - 83 - 184 - 181) The first big re-entry to the top 200 comes as the Scissor Sister's huge radio hit I Don't Feel Like Dancin, which, after 3 years out, managed to qualify nicely for its yearly final and strike a heavy blow towards getting back among 2006's Buzzjack greats. It's success here has been mixed, to say the least. As the sole Scissors representation in the entire top 400 (Take Your Mama and Comfortably Numb both finished in the bottom 100 of the finals), it's good to see them getting some popularity again. Stronger was easily the biggest hit off Kelly Clarkson's 2011 album of the same name. As a 2012 single, this is it's first chance at glory and it's done well to continue the legend of Kelly Clarkson, as the only KC single of the current decade in the finals of this competition. It's probably become one of her most enduring so I expect this to do well in future years.  A bit of electronic music spices up the rest of this section with Goldfrapp and Crystal Castles providing songs that have generally done well in this competition despite the lack of commercial success especially in the case of the latter, the former is Goldfrapp's biggest hit. And finally, Galvanize, used to great effect in the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics, sees an average fall despite that, probably just due to a bit of aging. Still, you'd recognise that riff anywhere.
August 12, 201311 yr I liked that Kelly song for about 2 listens. 'Most enduring'? No. (Then again I dislike her in general).
August 12, 201311 yr GALVANIZE   :wub:Â Great to see Scissor Sisters, Crystal Castles and Goldfrapp there tooÂ
August 13, 201311 yr Author http://theinspirationroom.com/daily/musicvideos/2006/9/killers-when-you-were-young.jpg 180 132 Emeli Sandé - Heaven 4.488 (132 - 180) 179 197 The Killers - When You Were Young 4.500 (71 - 160 - 180 - X - 159 - 197 - 179) 178 NE (276) Eric Prydz - Call On Me 4.514 (X - X - X - X - X - X - X - 178) 177 70 Christina Aguilera - Fighter 4.541 (X - X - 81 - 66 - 58 - 87 - 70 - 177) 176 RE (219) Lily Allen - Smile 4.553 (X - 136 - X - 106 - X - X - 176) Easily the most socially acceptable track from Emeli Sandé's solo work is the momentous Heaven, slipping a little bit from the debut rush last year, but continues to remain strong at a solid 180th position. I know it got beaten to number 1 back in 2011 but I had to look up what beat it, even after only two years. The #3 in that week would go on to become the biggest by making it's name as a long-running #2, but Heaven remains the most loved by Buzzjack. Moving on, Eric Prydz makes the top 200 for the first time with his biggest hit Call On Me, I'm far from being a fan but it's good to see 'fresh' blood. Similarly, Lily Allen's infectious debut track returns to the top 200 after a couple of years sitting outside, she may have produced better later in her career but it still brings a great smile (yes I did that on purpose) to my face every time I hear it. The highest peaking song for The Killers is also in this section, boasting an average score in its round of exactly 4.5. When You Were Young is probably one of their more recognisable ones even now and having spent only one year outside the top 200 since this contest's inception, it's on the rise again to it's 4th highest position ever. Also, we have a large fall for Fighter, one of Xtina's best songs, which has spent the last few years doing relatively well in the mid-top 100, but now falls over 100 places to almost outside the top 200. I blame Bionic/Your Body/whatever flop she's peddling now.
August 13, 201311 yr Author http://www.hdmusicvideos.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Nicole_Scherzinger_-_Poison.jpg 175 NE (262) Nicole Scherzinger - Poison 4.556 (X - X - 175) 174 42 Hurts - Wonderful Life 4.578 (X - 42 - 174) 173 RE (300) Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme 4.595 (X - X - X - X - X - 198 - X - 173) 172 75 The White Stripes - 7 Nation Army 4.595 (160 - X - 194 - X - 90 - 80 - 75 - 172) 171 NE (301) Nicole Scherzinger - Don't Hold Your Breath 4.605 (X - 171) Buzzjack finally partially realises the *.* of Nicole Scherzinger's solo career and lets it into the high reaches of the 170s. Poison and Don't Hold Your Breath have held up for me as both incredible pop songs so hopefully they can rise again next year and get Nicole even further into the hall of fame. There's also a re-entry for the very recognisable dance track Lola's Theme. Having only barely reached this high two years ago, it gains a new peak on its penultimate year in the competition. Shapeshifters have one more year to redeem themselves, the White Stripes aren't so lucky. Falling nearly 100 places after having spent 3 years in the playoff zone, support for 7 Nation Army has faded a little and it bows out at its lowest position since 2009.  Finally, after shocking us all by making it all the way to the final as one of 2010's most popular songs on here last time, Wonderful Life doesn't quite reach the same heights this time and falls back to what is probably a more realistic position for it at #174. It's lovely but not even the best song by Hurts.
August 13, 201311 yr Author  170 200 Katy B - Katy On A Mission 4.644 (X - 200 - 170) 169 78 Nelly Furtado - Try 4.649 (X - 110 - 158 - 133 - X - 189 - 78 - 169) 168 87 Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You 4.652 (28 - 138 - 87 - 168) 167 232 Mariah Carey - We Belong Together 4.658 (96 - 34 - 32 - 37 - 116 - 113 - X - 167) 166 311 Mark Ronson (feat. Amy Winehouse) - Valerie 4.658 (113 - 196 - 196 - X - X - 166) Katy B seems to be growing in Buzzjack affections as her material gets older, she debuted in 2010 with this killer dancefloor single but very few people here seemed bothered from what I've heard. Since then there has been a core who really like her stuff, and her floppage with recent single What Love Is Made Of was unfortunate as it was just as good as plenty of the stuff on her debut album. Regardless, most people here seem to LIKE On A Mission now as it spends its second consecutive year in the top 200. One of Nelly Furtado's most well regarded singles against the odds is Try, which has a certain charm to it, and it's definitively one of Buzzjack's minor classics by now. As is We Belong Together, which returns to the top 200 after its first year out, beginning to show its age and the general passing of Mariah fans who care enough to vote anymore. I have distinct memories of hearing Valerie almost every time the radio was on in 2007 and I HATED it for that. The years have been relatively kind and our relationship is steady now. Ronson and Winehouse's cover of the Zutons' song has stuck far more in everyone's consciousness than the originals and it finds itself back in the top 200 at its second-highest position ever, clearly it's been long enough for us all to forget.  Oh, and there's Kelly Clarkson's #1 single. Nearly everyone seems to have strong feelings about this, and my feet are planted firmly in the love camp. It has carved out a run zig-zagging downwards so it could have a big boost of KC fans next year if it's lucky.

It's easily Take That's best ever work for me, a song I always thought had gotten to #1 before I started following the charts and realised Leona had soundly beaten it every week it might have stood a chance. It is almost everything an adult radio hit should be (hypothesis: uniting the ingredients of this and Just Give Me A Reason would produce a super mutant radio hit, untested).  No Good Advice is one of Girls Aloud's best singles and this is reflected in its chart run. It falls to its lowest position inside the top 200, like so many of the songs we've seen so far, that's mathematically probable, but staying in 7 of the 8 years this competition has run is impressive by any standards, even if it is by a Buzzjack fave. Another Buzzjack fave, Britney, actually manages to rise 10 places. I can't even remember how Piece Of Me goes, that has to be somewhat damning. All Saints have taken a two-year absence from the top end of this competition but here Rock Steady returns to equal the position it achieved in 2008. As the last vestige of this great girlband eligible for the competition, lets keep it in for the next few, ok? Finally, Calvin Harris holds pretty steady with Feel So Close. This album campaign has only just very recently finished, it's spent two years in the competition and it wasn't even the first single. Unbelievable. I'm probably one of the few who thinks this is rather overrated, but I'm gonna be nice today.

Chris Brown) - No Air 4.805 (163 - 89 - X - 180 - 156) Last year was clearly a magic one for The Girl And The Robot, as it miraculously improved hugely on its 2011 score and made it all the way to the final, this year, this forgotten Buzzjack gem falls back down to a position it is clearly more used to. It's not yet reached an untouchable 'hidden' song status, M83 watch out. It is of course fantastic and deserves every success, go Robyn.  A Girls Aloud that previously MAJORLY overperformed in this (how was it ever the 14th best song of the decade, it's not even GA's 14th best song!!!) returns to the top 200, battered and bruised from their breakup. Whether it'll redeem itself in the future is yet is uncertain, it's always been one I've forgotten about so I can't imagine that getting any better as the years go by.  Firework continues to do fairly well for a Katy single of middling popularity (I'm surprised it hasn't been challenging for the final yet honestly), but it falls to its lowest position yet, with the Teenage Dream era finally finished. In other news, No Air continues heading back on the up after falling out two years ago. Shakoncé's duet of 'legend' makes the top 200 for the first time, ever so slightly surprised a song of this star power hasn't been up here before but it isn't talked about a whole lot considering Bey and Shak's back catalogues all together.
