August 16, 201311 yr It's the singles from Blackout that i always hear when i'm out so not entirely true to say it's just internet-hype that loves it. The material isn't too early Britney to be called cheesy and isn't too recent to be deemed limp, and it's the stuff that most people keep returning to from what i've experienced.
August 16, 201311 yr Anyone who would voluntarily return to any of the singles from 'Blackout' must be some sort of masochist as far as I'm concerned. Aural diarrhoea.
August 17, 201311 yr Gimme More is by far my favourite Britney song  I'm also pleased to see Lights being appreciated, I know I'm one of the people who didn't appreciate it until it got US success but I'm glad it did cause' it's amazing.

About 9 months ago, one couldn't move for those bright orange signatures commemorating the last hurrah of a nearly decade-old girlgroup. It's just an average chorus tied to some kinda quirky verses and I got all I needed from it from a couple of listens. Your mileage may vary. In brighter news, Florence & The Machine gets two entries in this section, one Dog Days Are Over which is new to the entire top 500 this time (assuming it didn't just flop out outside the top 200 in the 2010/2011 editions), which does surprise me a little. With the popularity it picked up and given that Florence appears to appeal to most of the voters in this game I'd have thought most of her singles would have been safely inside by now. Regardless, we welcome Dog Days. Cosmic Love was a bit of a flop but we all remember it because it is one of the best songs on Lungs and clearly everyone bothering to remember it loves it too. Because Of You re-enters at its lowest position after suffering a year out last time, of the trinity of Breakaway it's probably the least popular among most of you, despite being a lovely little piano ballad that is probably just ahead of Since U Been Gone in my worthless (now I've dissed Girls Aloud as well as Britney I might as well be dead to you all) opinion.  Finally, a male rapper falls out of the top 100. Tinie Tempah, with a little help from Radio 1 no doubt, has made Pass Out into a bit of a classic. Such lyrics like 'I got so many clothes that I keep some at my aunt's house' will never be forgotten. WE CAN DO THIS UNTIL WE PASS OUT *.*
August 17, 201311 yr Cosmic Love :wub:Â Thought Something New would have been much higher given the site's absolute looning for it.Â
August 17, 201311 yr Oh I definitely agree about Something New being massively overated on Buzzjack. They have much better songs
August 17, 201311 yr Dog Days Are Over  Pass Out & Cosmic Love are great too of course! Something New is fairly good, but I agree it was over-hyped on BJ at the timeÂ
August 17, 201311 yr Very pleased to see Lights, Yeah Yeah and End Credits so high. Meanwhile, I realised I missed the final voting round, so I didn't vote for Pumped Up Kicks...

They were also the 4 closest to qualifying for the top 100 so it seems clear the whole scoring of this thing hasn't done 2003 any favours. These are the best of the best of that year (that aren't in our top 10) so show respect.  Three of them actually have a 100% record in this game which is very impressive, especially for Scandalous which has never reached the final, coming extremely close one time. Eesh. Scandalous and former top 10 regular Beautiful are great and all (and Beautiful is probably an anthem for plenty of posters here), but my favourite of those three is Superstar, a song which I actually remember being around for back then, which is impressive as I wasn't exposed much to pop culture in my early years. This is all middling success for them so let's move on. It has been ten years since the warm summer RnB jam Breathe, also known for being Sean Paul's first #1, which is kind of amazing when you think about it; he still has some relevance today which is even more amazing. Breathe re-enters after two years outside following two years in the top 100. It's a respectable final place for it, I'd say. The odd one out here is Coldplay's Paradise, from their most recent album and their second #1. It's pretty much a Coldplay classic already now, and one of those I imagine will be very well-regarded further down the line. Only 3 Coldplay songs left, and they are their greats, one from each of their three mid-00s album campaigns, so it looks like Paradise has become the one loved from Mylo Xyloto. It has fallen quite hard from its debut but I expect and hope that isn't fatal.
August 17, 201311 yr Eep at the 'Paradise' drop but I agree I'm sure it'll recover again in future editions of this. Oh and yay at us finally losing 'Beautiful' from this. To be replaced next year by a much better song of (almost) the same name by an artist I also hate. Assuming '#Beautiful' will do fairly well in this anyway.
August 19, 201311 yr 'Breathe' is absolutely FANTASTIC. Absolute classic. Great to see 'Superstar' keeping it's 100% streak in this too. I love me some Jamelia.
August 19, 201311 yr Author http://b.vimeocdn.com/ts/174/711/174711725_640.jpg 120 NE Ellie Goulding - Figure 8 5.143 (120) 119 196 Estelle (feat. Kanye West) - American Boy 5.171 (X - 135 - 147 - 196 - 119) 118 27 Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers 5.178 (57 - 27 - 118) 117 NE Demi Lovato - Skyscraper 5.186 (X - 117) 116 69 Girls Aloud - Love Machine 5.189 (120 - X - 52 - X - 147 - 110 - 69 - 116) The big talking point here is probably Kylie's highest song this time round, All The Lovers. Despite falling almost a hundred places from the final that is. I've always thought it incredibly overrated around here for what it is but I suspect this is a bit of a blip, a song can't have lost that much support in one year, unless all the Kylie loons have abandoned this place because she's finally reduced to being as desperate, if not more so, than Madonna right now. :kink: Another fall from the top 100 I'm far more sad about, as it involves Girls Aloud's official best song™ Love Machine, one that I love mainly for the energy and joy involved it, it's exactly what I want from a girlgroup and it's a shame that it falls so far this time, although this position seems more normal for it. Estelle's American Boy reaches a new peak after 3 years in mid-100s obscurity. Two new entries that are quite unusual, neither had very much chart success over here and they had very similar chart peaks, #32 and #33. Figure 8 is probably getting a new crown for Ellie's most underrated single in terms of Buzzjack love to public love, I don't know anyone who doesn't like it on here, several preferring it to lead Anything Could Happen and yet it was ignored it last year's Christmas rush. Skyscraper was possibly the start of Demi Lovato's new wave as a career, culminating in big success for her with Heart Attack earlier this year, but it's quite unusual for a Disney star in that she really really really STRAINS her voice to get out every inch of emotion. Which I find quite compelling. YMMV. It's her first time in the top 200 anyway, and I suspect she'll continue that with at least the aforementioned Heart Attack next year.Â
August 19, 201311 yr 'Figure 8' Ellie's best single and one of the best songs of 2012, still ridiculous that it did so badly. Eww at 'Skyscraper' being higher than it on here. And NO at 'Love Machine' being GA's best single. One of their worst.
August 19, 201311 yr I think Figure 8 has officially overtaken Under The Sheets as my favourite from Ellie now. Criminal that it underperformed the way it did when it has everything going for it :(
August 19, 201311 yr Author http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/62547000/jpg/_62547504_elbow.jpg 115 140 Elbow - One Day Like This 5.244 (X - X - X - 140 - 115) 114 165 Katy Perry (feat. Kanye West) - E.T. 5.279 (165 - 114) 113 76 Kanye West (feat. Jamie Foxx) - Gold Digger 5.342 (168 - X - X - X - X - X - 76 - 113) 112 57 Killers - Somebody Told Me 5.368 (30 - 14 - 26 - 19 - 22 - 23 - 57 - 112) 111 120 Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl 5.447 (X - 182 - X - X - 94 - 142 - 120 - 111) The most impressive run so far is owned by Somebody Told Me, which leaves the final for the FIRST TIME, yes, the first time, to crash ignominiously outside the top 100. An anthem almost on the same level as Mr Brightside, I wasn't aware of its great history in this game and I'm very pleased. Unfortunately it's beaten by Hollaback Girl. I've only ever heard that as a load of noise.  Gold Digger staged a triumphant return to the upper echelons last year but falls out just outside the top 100 this time, Elbow gets a boost from the Olympics and similarly, continues its status as a bit of a late realisation classic. I do prefer it far more than Gold Digger, but both have their charms and are clearly appealing to different parts of the musical spectrum. Also one Katy Perry track makes it in. I wouldn't have expected E.T to be Katy's 3rd highest but apparently that's what you've all decided on. It's one of her better ones, not quite the best from Teenage Dream but getting fairly close, even among the highs of that era.
