Do you guys think the MTV VMAs performance next week will have an effect in the UK?

No.

MTV VMA performances never have much of an impression on UK charts previously. Never did and that certainly won't change this year at all.
The VMA performance won't do anything, but when GaGa drops the video this time next week that should have a massive effect!
That's too bad I was hoping she'd do some extra promo besides the video, it wouldn't hurt! And there's no X Factor to fall back on either not that she needs X Factor but like I said it wouldn't hurt.

That's it, I give up on her ever releasing a single sensibly and getting a no.1 again :(

This one, #4

The next single ... number ... number 28 :(

I agree...I do however think that she has lost alot of her star quality....she was out the public eye for months..up to a year (I know she had surgery etc)....But ALOT of people did forget about her....The situation would have been different if 'Applause' was say a Rihanna song...it would have been a shoe in for the #1 spot

TBH...i can see this era being like Britney's 'Femme Fatale' era (in the UK)....Hold it against me which debuted at 6 then fell....Till the world ends came in at number 21...and the album hit at number 8 then fell off the planet...i can see this ARTPOP era like that

You guys are overreacting a little. Gaga is a huge pop star and the song has been rush released OA/OS give it some time to prove itself.

This thread was brill to read through, some of the Gaga stans have egg on their face right now.

Gaga outside of her hardcore fanbase (which is admittedly huge) is met with disdain these days.

I disagree. Regardless of who it is, as long as the music is good, it will sell. Regarding Britters, just take a look at "Scream & Shout". The reason it exploded worldwide was because commercially, it's the best piece of music that she's put out since "Toxic".

Im not overreacting and most of the other people are not either we are looking realistically here

I dunno....I just think someone like Rihanna has more star power here in the UK so whatever she releases as a lead single it will got to number 1 look at her last 3 lead singles :)

However I do think on the whole Britney thing it was mainly because of will.i.am...The UK LOVES him pretty much i mean look at his single charts from #willpower they have been pretty good for him

How can you tell that this whole era is going to be like that of Femme Fetale after the lead single has only been out a few days? That's not realistic that's just crazy, and this Gaga on album 3, with lots of hype and support behind her.

Don't even :cry::(

But I think you're right.

I can't believe t, her last single sold 60,000 in one day and now this!

If THIS single sold 10,000 first day, then what will the second sell?

A number 20 single and flop album would be disastrous for GaGa. Britney will never be dropped, just like Madonna wouldn't be, massive history and they can just keep trying. If it happens for GaGa, she would be almost irrelevant without the long history to back up a flop :(

Dunno how she's gonna recover from this, Rihanna stayed relevant from yearly releases, GaGa didn't and alienated a lot of people with BTW :( .

The thing is Only girl/We found love/Diamonds >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> BTW or Applause. Seriously Rihanna has really picked great lead singles the last 3 eras, it is not just down to her name (Rihanna has her fair share of 'flops').
