The best baker certainly didn't win and it makes a bit of a mockery of the competition once more... That's the way it works, just the same as a knock-out football tournament. The final can be between a team who just about scraped through each round and another team who won each match comfortably. If the former win the final they win the competition regardless of their previous performances. At least by having three challenges each week it's not generally just down to one bake. The three were probably pretty even going into the final challenge but that's just the way it worked out.
