Posted August 16, 201311 yr Going to see these groups tomorrow at Newham Under The Stars, an annual free event in the local park. Haven't been since we saw Bjorn Again and Bootleg Beatles a few years ago and they were great. Anyway it's Boney M featuring original Liz Mitchell. Obviously Bobby Farrell is dead. Not sure if the others are original groups. Edited August 16, 201311 yr by Common Sense
August 16, 201311 yr Going to see these groups tomorrow at Newham Under The Stars, an annual free event in the local park. Haven't been since we saw Bjorn Again and Bootleg Beatles a few years ago and they were great. Anyway it's Boney M featuring original Liz Mitchell. Obviously Bobby Farrell is dead. Not sure if the others are original groups. should be fun, I saw Boney M (Liz) a few years back performing in Gran canaria, Imagination must be Leee John (surely!) - I once recognised Leee in a bar, he was a bit wary till I said I was a fan of his 80's singles, then he gave me a hug n a kiss, ahhh sweet of him! I have a Real Thing anecdote, too, Radio One Roadshow, 1986, Bournemouth, they were looking for volunteers for Mike Read's Pop Quiz. My hand went up before I could stop myself.... I got backstage with a young girl who was also competing, and The Real Thing were there having been on stage already (remixed hits a plenty that year). Took their photo signing auotgraphs, then Mike Read spotted me bemused at his preening his hair in the mirror before going back on stage. He took the piss out of my jumper and threatened to chuck me in the sea if I lost. Fortunately I won after blanking on the first question (what is Genesis' current album called - blank look from me, panic looking at the crowd like a goldfish - Mike helped me, you can't see me, you can't see me he said as he touched my arm. Then I got it! Invisible Touch! I must stress I was well over 16 and happy to be briefly touched in public, wouldnt want any more bloody episodes of TOTP dropped from the schedules!)
August 17, 201311 yr Author Yep, Real Thing are all three original members and Imagination is still led by Leee John so should be good.
August 17, 201311 yr Of those three acts I owned a Real Thing album for a few hours. I went into the local record shop and took the sleeve for an Enid album to the counter. When I got home I took it out to play it and they had put the Real Thing album in by mistake  I took it back later that day to get the real thing, i.e. the Enid album.
August 17, 201311 yr Author I always liked Boney M and my fave single, from 1979, was Hooray Hooray It's A Holi- Holiday. Have a GH CD now.

August 17, 201311 yr Famous Five or Secret Seven? well she was local.... joking....! I wasn't in Dorset then though. The local children's author (although long dead by then) was AA Milne.
August 18, 201311 yr Author Was great. All three groups sounded fab but Liz Mitchell nailed those Boney M tracks. She had Bobby's daughter and a guy prancing shirtless like Bobby with her. Yes they did Hooray Hooray but by far the most popular song was Brown Girl... everyone seemed to know the words to it, even kids and they came back on and did it again!!! Glad I went, cost nothing, even got a chair, great night. For you chartfreaks like me, only hit they missed out was Belfast. Ended with Gotta Go Home!!! Edited August 18, 201311 yr by Common Sense
